Chapter 18

Practice and scheduled work brought Massy and Odell back home. Though they both handled situations differently when it came to people getting to close, one thing was for certain, they had both grown extremely territorial of one another. From Odell ready to break every bone in Devin's body for him having the nerve to even ask of her whereabouts, to Massy delivering the calm before the storm, cussing out a woman for being too friendly, yet still remaining polite as she did it. "I thought you had a interview?" Odell said looking Massy up and down. A set change had gone underway in the large open warehouse. Another photoshoot called for Odell's presence. "I did I had a few, they were phone interviews. I had one for first take." "Mmmm" Odell nodded his head. "What Skip talking about?" Odell questioned her, knowing Skip Bayless attitude, he was sure Massy would have had to come at his neck for talking down about something. "Surprisingly he was polite this time. He must of took his meds this morning." Massy began applying Chapstick to her lips as Odell began throwing light punches to both sides of her upper arms. Bobbing and weaving as if he was a boxier."he didn't say anything regarding you, this time." Odell frowned. "How much Chapstick are you gonna put on? Damn!" He threw another punch. Massy flexed, tightening up her small biceps.  "Until I feel like my lips are covered en... Oweeee!" Her reaction to a harder punch.  "Stop being uh punk." He said moving in closer to her and grabbing her arms.  "I'm not! I'm light skin! I bruise easily!" She said laughing and putting her strength against him to get loose.  Odell chuckled through a frown. "What?" He was caught off guard as She began blocking his blows to her arms. "When we getting married?" Massy frowned at the random question. She didn't have a answer for him honestly.  "I don't know? I've been planning here and there but I'm super busy." Massy answered back, she wasn't trying to make it seem like it was all on her but she had no other way to explain her reasoning to not doing anything. Odell moved in closer, grabbing both her arms and pulling her into his body. Wrapping his arms around her shoulders and squeezing her in a bear hug.  He was quiet for a moment casually looking around at all the commotion as staff worked on equipment. Massy had no choice but to lay her head on his chest and take the strength of his playful hug. He looked down at her and licked his lips. "You want me to help you?" He randomly and genuinely asked her.  Massy looked up at him in shock. She meant to ask if he would help her but it completely slipped her mind. The fact that he even offered made it that much better. She smiled up at him. "You want it!?"  Odell frowned and rolled his eyes. "Duh." He simply said showing her it wasn't a big deal.  Massy stood watching Odell pose for the self portrait, falling deeper in love with this man. His simple gesture of checking on her, recognizing that she was stressed, so he simply fixed her problem by offering his help. Yup, something that simple. The nature of a man was to be a problem solver. Changing her feelings and mood when she is upset, in distress, nervous, or scared by becoming Mr. Fix-It and offering solutions to her problems. Like Massy, Odell was naturally growing and realizing it wasn't just about him anymore. It was becoming us and we ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After saying her "see you laters" Massy continued on to her next scheduled interview. Beats By Dre didn't just appeal to the singers and rapers and popular DJ's, the following the company also had with athletes spoke just as much volume. Basketball's LeBron James, football's Collin Kaepernick and Soccer's Cesc Fàbregas and many more all had endorsement deals with the extremely popular headphones. Massy would add to that group of professional athletes with her own deal. People often listened to music before playing sports to find rhythm, focus, or even inspiration. But the elite athletes often found themselves listening to music for more complicated reasons, not just to connect to positive influences, but to escape negative ones. As much as it's about their favorite songs, it's also about the noise they block out. From rival fans, other players, from the media.  With that that idea Beats by Dre had decided to relaunch its premium pair of noise-cancelling headphones. This time adding a lighter pair of earbuds that still packed a heavy sound and a larger wireless over the ear set with stronger noise drowning. Massy had been a perfect, candidate for the campaign, with recently dealing with the on going criticism she received during the World Cup, knowing she made more enemies than fans she was the perfect person to escape external pressures by just slipping on the headphones and entering a world of stylized serenity.  "Why do you think music and sports go hand in hand? Why do they mesh so well?"  The all white clean room glowed, white lights illuminated the walls. Bright white lights shined down on Massy as she sat in a tall metal stool. Doing her first one on one interview for the day. Finally a break from her day which was filled with phone conference calls and small interviews. "That certain song just does it for you. I don't think it's explainable. It's just that feeling you get when you feel unstoppable because of a particular song. I think a artist is a athlete in their own realm. They're trying to be number one, just like a athlete wants to be. They want the number one single on the charts, just like we want the number one team in the league."  "Do you listen to multiple playlists before a game or do you listen to one specific song before every game, kind of like a ritual?"  "I try not to have rituals because if you forget to do it then you throwing everything off. But I listen to multiple playlists. It really depends on my mood."  Massy fumbled with the half full water bottle in her hand as she swiveled side to side in the metal stool. "What is the most played song or songs on your list."  Massy smiled at the question and knew off top without having to look through her phone. "Flawless and Formation by Beyoncé are currently the top played. They're just such trash talking songs, like I'm cocky as s**t! I'm here! I slay at everything I do! and you wish you could be as great as I am. I'm just here for all of that! Flawless just makes me want to win!"  "Trash talking Beyoncé!"  Massy laughed louder, nodding her head in agreement. "YES! Trash talking Beyoncé! I love when she talks s**t! Like, this is my s**t, respect it and bow down."  "That's the mentality you have going on the field!?"  "Yes! Always. Bey is just like. I'm beautiful, I'm this amazing loving wife, and I have this gorgeous little girl! But! Don't get it twisted, I will come for you!" Massy laughed and looked down at the water bottle, pulling the paper from it. "I am Woman! Hear me Roar... She is such a Queen!"
