Magma in the sky

718 Words
This was the village leader’s voice coming from his home surrounded by his guards. His name was Hakeem. He has seen the most frozen magma.  He was wise and smart, old yet strong. No one can reject him an offer nor refuse an order. Not out of fear of his guards but rather out of respect for his wisdom and age. We call him Master. Our master started to talk, even though his voice was not great still the village went silent. “I lived in this place before any of you. I have no family anymore but you. And this place is part of this family.” Murmuring started again saying “I told you so” and “We won't leave this-” “Nevertheless” Hakeem shouted so silence can be brought again. “There is whom that I consider my sisters and brothers and whom I consider my sons and daughters, and whom I consider my grandchildren, that I wish to see their children before my time for my body to burn.” “ I can not do that if we stay here. We can create another home. Better and safer. Where we do not need to wait years for food, a place where we do not rely on a hole to fulfill our thirst.I have decided to go and try getting out. However, who wants to stay shall stay. I can force no one but myself.” “Now we shall discuss no more. let's start digging for those who want to live and do not want to go extinct” “Lead the way” A woman holding a baby cried. The master shook his head and smiled. Then he said while looking down at me “You are the one who always warned us, you have solved what I could not and you have maintained what I could not even begin. Thus you shall have the honor of leadership. Now tell us what to do, in order to live” I felt like the whole place by its people was on my heart. I fear that I do not succeed. But I can not show but power and courage, as my father has taught me to do in any difficult situation. I led them to the hole I was secretly digging. And the digging started at least with half of the village Everyone made his weapon so he could scatter the walls, while the women were packing as much food and water as possible.   There were women, men, children, adults, and elders. Who I tried to direct, but I knew nothing. Still, I knew more than them. Day after day we dug and dug, knowing nothing of our path. The path was dark and terrifying.  More people from the village would get encouraged and join. Yet, our numbers did not seem to increase, because there were also those who got discouraged and went back.  After a while, the walls refused to scatter. So we started hitting it harder and harder with every breath we had. But it won't c***k, not even a split.  Everyone started to be nervous. My heartbeats accelerated with every cry and every blame they had one me. I knew neither what to do nor say. I hit the wall over and over, like a maniac. Till it cracked. Not the wall but my Hadeed weapon, at that moment I felt my heart pounding and my clothes were soaked in my sweat. It was getting warmer by the second.  I became more nervous. Everything was upside down.  Suddenly, I felt ashes falling on my shoulders and hair. I looked up and saw a part of the wall that was darker but looked more fragile. I went on someone's shoulders and started punching. Indeed it was cracking but so was my hand. It was bleeding. But I could not show pain or back down. The black wall was turning dark red with my blood.  Finally, it cracked. An excessive amount of light came in, so I had to close my eyes and put my hands up, to cover the light. This light was not like any that I have seen, it was brighter, and of a lighter colour than our sky. Still, it felt stronger and brighter.  I widened the hole and crawled out. Seeing what I have never seen before.  There was Magma in the sky but contained in one place.  Colours I never saw Objects I never felt Air I never smelt Voices I never heard While I was silent as a dead man
