Third POV
Alice dug in the backpack until she came across two items of interest. She knew Rain's plan all too well and decided that one way or another Skylar was giving Rain a gift. "Well, look what we have here," her smile grew when she pulled it out to show the others. "It seems Skylar was planning on keeping Rain's gift to herself."
"Those are mine, Alice. Put'em back!" Skylar's panicked expression only fed her need to humiliate the girl who made Rain look bad. Alice waved the items around like trophies. On the one hand, she had the only two gifts that anyone had given her. Skylar's eyes grew wider upon the realization of what Alice was planning on doing. "So," she stated coyly. "You had Rain's gift in your backpack all along, you thief," Skylar shook her head quickly. "N-no," she stammered to get her words out. "A frie...an employee at work gave me those gifts."
Alice rolled her eyes as she opened the card and the money fell out. She grinned as Rain's crying all of a sudden stopped. "Oh Skylar, didn't your mom ever teach you not to take things that don't belong to you?" She waved the fifty-dollar bill in front of everyone as if to mock her. Rain dashed up to Alice and snatched the money straight out of her hand. "Oh Skylar," she said in her sweet, innocent voice. "You did remember my birthday. Aww, you shouldn't have." Rain grinned from ear to ear, placing the money in her bra. "Thank you so much." Alice then turned her attention to the second item. She popped open the container while Rain was busy giving false praise to Skylar for her special gift. She even went up and hugged her, but Skylar remained stiff as a board. She didn't move nor made any effort to get her money back. It was futile to do so and Rain would never allow it. To Rain? Skylar was an enemy that needed to know her place. She thought, I'll make you regret going through the front door and showing your ugly face at my party.
Immediately, there was a shirek from Alice, and she threw the top of the container to the ground. "How dare you give Rain a cake that she's allergic to!" Skylar was shocked by Alice's statement that she didn't speak. She had never known Rain to be allergic to anything. She had been cooking her family's meals since she was ten. If Rain was allergic to anything, Mrs. Beyer would surely tell her or beat her if she got it wrong. There was no way this was possible, but just as she was about to believe it, a thought came into her mind. When Rain hates a certain dish, she will claim that she is allergic to it. She has done it alot which frustrates the cooks to no end. Alice knew all too well that Rain hated the one cake that Skylar loved: cheesecake. "Were you planning on giving this to her," Alice yelled at Skylar. Tears swelled up in Rain's eyes again. "I knew it! You do hate me. You're trying to kill me because you think I stole your Dad." Rain attempted to run off crying, but Alice stopped her. She pulled her back and gestured to two of the students near Skylar to hold her back from escaping. Two students grabbed Skylar's arms and held her in place. Alice continued to comfort Rain as they walked slowly towards the newly frightened Skylar. She yelled for them to let her go but no one listened. Some of the classmates whispered that it was shameless of Skylar to try to poison Rain over jealousy. Even though Skylar struggled and hugged hard against the two students, she was no match to break free from their grip. Her movements only made their fingers dig into her skin, causing bruises to form. She winced at the pain she was enduring as the new bruises were forming over old ones. Alice whispered to a sobbing Rain. "I know she's your sister, but you have got to teach her a lesson. This is inexcusable." She patted her on the back and someone handed her a tissue. Rain wiped her eyes and finally nodded gradually. Alice took a step forward and smashed the cake on the floor. She angrily glanced up at Skylar as she stared in disbelief at her cake, now a pudding puddle on the floor. "That's for trying to poison Rain, you b***h," Alice hissed coldly. "And that is for thinking that you could get away with it." Alice raised her hand and smacked Skylar hard on the cheeks twice. Her cheeks burned red-hot as water swelled up at the corners of her eyes. Skylar knew that if she cried it would make them happy, and she was going to refuse them their enthusiasm. She glared at Alice defiantly. Alice saw the glare in her eyes and quickly grabbed Skylar's chin and cheeks, squeezing them painfully. Skylar looked slightly to the side behind Alice. She saw Rain with a triumphant smile across her face. She wondered how no one could see this girl's wickedness that was obviously in plain sight.
"You're a fat piggy," Alice teased. She forced Skylar's head down by putting her other hand on the back of her neck. "See the mess that you made." The classmates started to giggle, causing Skylar to become red in the face from embarrassment. As she looked around the room with tears bubbling up, she could tell that most of the party was now watching and whispering to each other. Just when she thought it couldn't get worse, Alice shoved her whole body to the ground and pushed her face into the cheesecake cake that she smashed on the floor.
"Clean up your piggy mess," Alice rubbed Skylar's face back and forth in the cheesecake. The room erupted in laughter as Alice and a few of her minions started making pig noise. They attempted to force her to eat the cake mesh off the floor when a strong voice called out.
"What's going on in here?" Skylar was on the verge of crying when the man stepped through the crowd. The whispering and laughing ceased quickly, and the whole room went quiet.
