Chapter 88

2006 Words
GRIFFIN’S POV Fuck! I yell as Mia runs out of the club. I watch as she runs through the crowd. What was I thinking? I knew it would upset her, but I did it anyway. Maybe I was hoping for a different reaction, but I know her, and I knew she would react like this, but I tried anyway. The rest of the gang is staring at me like I just committed a crime. Yeah, f**k, maybe I did, a few actually. I made my way back to the bar, avoiding eye contact with them and down a glass of whiskey in an attempt to just forget the last hour. Not that I want to. I want to remember every moment I had with her. It felt like the first time I saw her. Her beautiful yet f*****g unnerved eyes.    Josh walked towards me but got pulled back by Joe.  Thank you, Joe. I said out loud; I don’t have the energy for this f*****g girlfriend stealing bastard and definitely not in the mood for a prison cell tonight. My phone buzzed in my pocket. At first I ignored it, but it kept buzzing. I swear Dawn if you... “Meet me at 18 Dawson street, the first apartment on the first floor.” The message reads. The number is unknown. It must be Mia. I placed the glass back on the bar counter and salute Josh on my way out, and if looks could kill, I would be dead on the floor. I made my way through the crowd and finally stepped outside and into the car. I don’t know if I should feel relieved or afraid that she wants to meet. I don’t even f*****g know if it’s Mia. I know she stays at one of those apartments, so it must be Mia. Lucas parked in front of the building.  “Sir, you sure it’s Mia?”  I took a deep breath before I climb out.  “Lucas wait here.” I don’t know if this will be quick, or what to even f*****g expect.   With every step I take, my breathing became louder. I knocked and the door flies open. With Mia standing in her pajamas, a scowl on her face, and her hair wet. She looks so sexy, I can feel her body, her soft lips molding with mine. Mia coughed to gain my attention while I take her body in. “Are you done?” she asks, with her hands folded. f**k, I love this Mia, I remember how she used to cry by just looking at her the wrong way, and now, she’s this independent strong woman, with a massive chip on her shoulder. Ok, I need to work on that chip. f**k, Griffin. I tried to silence my thoughts. She’s probably going to yell at me and tell me what an asshole I am, and then chase me out.  “Earth to Griffin!” she snaps her fingers in front of me. I smiled, pushing past her, not giving her the moment to invite me in. I can already see how she rolls her eyes with my back turned. I plot down on the small couch in her living room, well I think it’s the living room, it’s so small my car won’t even fit in here.  “I didn’t say you can sit.”  “Yeah, and you didn’t stop me either for coming in.” I choke back in a teasing tone.  “Why?” she walks closer to sit on the chair across from me.  “Why what?” I glared at her, playing with my torn jeans.  “Why did you have to mess everything up? I tried so hard the last few months, and you messed it up in one night.”  “What did I mess up?” I try to get as much out of her before she chases me out of her apartment.  “Don’t insult me.” she sighed, looking down at the floor.  “I’m not, I just want to know what I messed up.”  “My head, and heart and everything. You messed me up, now all I think about is.” she stopped talking, but I need her to finish that sentence.  “All you think about is what, Mia?” I leaned forward with my knees almost touching hers.  “You, all I think about is you.” I cupped her cheeks to look me in the eye. Her beautiful eyes. I can stare at it for hours and would still fall for her every time.  “Mia,” I whispered, my heart jumping like a f*****g hungry fox up and down. I need her to tell me exactly how she feels. I know it’s selfish, but after all this time, I need her to say it.  “Please answer me?” the door flies open before she could answer me.    “Josh?” Mia jumped up, almost looking f*****g guilty. Is that guilt I’m seeing on her face? What a f**k? I thought she said they’re not together.  “Get out.” Josh spat like a f*****g venom snake.  “Excuse me?”      “You heard me, you’ve hurt her enough.”  “f**k you. Who gives you the right to decide for her? Who are you, her father?” I flare back. “Neither are you, so do us a favor and go back to being a full-blown jackass and leave her alone.”  “Stop it, I can speak for myself,” Mia yells.  “There you have it, man, so f*****g back off,” I said in defense mode.  “I’m talking to both of you.” she folds her arms again, trying to get our attention. What a f**k is she still standing in her pajamas in front of him.  “Can you please dress in something decent?” I ask, waiting for her to give me a snarky attitude.  “What? You seriously telling me to get dressed in something else?” and there it is, the f*****g attitude.  “Yes,” I respond quickly. Josh started laughing at me, and my face heats up in moments as I glare at him.  “Dude, I’ve seen it all.”  “What a f**k did you just say?” I March forward, but Mia pulled me back by my T-shirt.  “Josh, stop it.” She scowls.  “Can you please leave, I will call you?”  “No, I’m not leaving you with this snake.” he showed his hands towards me like his so f*****g innocent.  “Josh, I will call you please.” Mia practically begged him to leave. A grin took over my face and by the look on his face, He knows he’s defeated. Take that f*****g Josh.  He turned on his boots and whispered something to Mia. I can’t make out what he says. He finally left, and Mia looks beyond angry.  “Why did you have to pick a fight?” is she f*****g serious now?  “I did not. You saw him coming in here like superman, trying to be a hero.”  “Yes, and you provoked him.”  “Why the f**k did he say he saw it all?” I changed the subject before she turns the gun back at me. “I don’t know,” she said, sitting down on the chair.  “f**k no, that is no answer. He knew exactly what he was referring to. Did you have s*x with him?”  “What?” she yells. “You f*****g heard me, Mia. Did you f**k him?”  “Oh my God, you are unbelievable, I don’t have to tell you anything.” She stands up, walking to her small kitchen, grabbing a bottle of water.  “So then you did?” I grab the bottle from her before she could drink from it.  “What a hell?”  “Answer me?” her eyes are big, and I can tell she is fuming, but I don’t care, I need her to tell me that, that bastard didn’t touch her.  “You’re insane,” she said, strolling to her bedroom. I want the truth, or maybe I don’t, I don’t f*****g know, all I know is I don’t want that picture of Joshes hands all over her body in my f*****g head.  “Do you mind?” she turned around facing me.  “What? I’m not allowed in your bedroom?”  “No, you lost that privilege when you made someone pregnant, and f*****g kept it from me.” Mia never swears, but when she does, I know she’s beyond angry.  “I didn’t decide to f*****g make her pregnant. It happened by accident,” I yell back at her.  “So, you accidentally kept it a secret as well?”  “Yes, no! f**k I tried telling you, but then you found out you can’t have children and.”  “And what Griffin? You thought let’s keep it a secret? Did you really think I wouldn’t find out?” her face is red from all the yelling, and I can’t imagine mine looking any different.  “You’re changing the subject.”  “No, you just want answers to your question.” she murdered, grabbing the brush from the dresser to comb her wet hair. It’s already f*****g 2 in the morning and here I’m fighting with the love of my life, trying to make sure she didn’t sleep with that f*****g i***t. Just thinking about it makes me angrier.  “Just tell me.”  “No, I haven’t slept with Josh, or anyone, you’re happy now.”  “Ecstatic,” I answered, not sure if I mean it.    “Now that we are on the subject, why haven’t you slept with him? I mean you two seemed pretty close the last few months.” I don’t even know why the f**k I would ask such a question.  “I, we tried, a few times actually, but I couldn’t, every time he got too close, I saw you,” she admits. I don’t know if I should be happy or disturbed by the fact that she did try.  “I didn’t need to know that.” I plot down on her bed, perfectly made up.  “You asked, what was I supposed to do, lie?”  “No.” I kept quiet, staring at her as she plays with her hair.  “I never apologized to you.”  “You don’t have to, it’s in the past. I’m no longer broken or angry about it.”  I know it sounds f****d up, but I was hoping for a different reaction, anger, or something. Not this cold Mia that doesn’t care anymore.  “Yeah, I know. Still, I owe you an apology.” She doesn’t respond Instead, she glares at me with no emotions. “Please say something,” I begged as she turns the hairdryer on. She loves doing that when she’s trying to avoid a conversation.  “I just said to you, I’m not angry or broken anymore. Just drop it.”  “Okay,” I responded. I don’t want to. I want her to tell me she still loves me, and that she still needs me.
