Archer’s POV I released Graciela’s hand, suddenly feeling like the contact with her was burning me. The hurt, the grief on her face was killing me as she silently implored me to answer her. I wasn’t sure I could, I’d carried it too long, I didn’t even know where to start. She must have seen something in my face as she abruptly threw the covers off her body and swung her legs over the edge of the bed. ‘Fine’ she snapped, her back to me, shoulders hunched protectively, ‘I should have known better, you want me to tell you my life story and you can’t even explain a moment from your past to me.’ As she went to get up, panic swept through me and I reached out for the teenager instinctively, wanting to stop her. ‘I killed Everleigh’ I shouted, unable to stop the words tumbling out.
