Chapter 9: Leora

Once James sisters and I got back to Ametrines room we started doing each others nails. Maids brought in cucumber sandwiches and some iced tea. Anna and Roseanne couldnt stop talking about boys and what they would want their weddings and proposals to look like. Ametrine and Rosella talked about what guests should be invited to James and my wedding. I just sat in a beanbag chair and ate while thinking about what James would want.

Leora are you alright? Roseanne asked. Apparently, Anna went to the bathroom.

Yeah, I just miss James.

You really do love him dont you. I nodded my head.

How are we all going to sleep in here tonight? I asked no one in particular.

Well, I figured we could split it up. You, Anna, and Roseanne in your room and Rosella can sleep in here with me. Ametrine stated. Next thing we know Jasper is barging into the room.

Ametrine, Anna can I talk to you please?!

Yeah sure! Rosella go into Leoras room and Ill come and get you latter. Ametrine and Anna walked out of the room with Jasper hot on their heels.

Anyone know what that was about? I asked while looking at the twins. They shook their heads no and we went into my room.

Yay you have a readding nook! Can I sleep here tonight? Roseanne asked and I just nodded my head yes. She started jumping for joy then hugged me before going and getting her bed ready.

Please excuse her shes a bit hyperactive. Rosella explained.

Thats okay, Do you want to share the bed with me? I asked and she just smiled and nodded her head.

So, do you like going by Amethyst or Leora?

Leora please. Amethyst is fore those who are to refer to me as my title. Your family you dont have to! I hear your studying to become queen. How is that going?

Its difficult some days but I enjoy it. The only thing is I cant take over the crown without being married. I dont take time out of my schedule to date. Id rather focus on becoming the best ruler my kingdom deserves.

I hear you. I havent even begun training and I have to get married! Dont get me wrong I love your brother I just with we could have been able to do things our own time. I can barely control my powers let alone rule a kingdom.

I understand. I really do. James will too. He had difficulties with his power too when he got his and its why he became a knight.

Im an empath I can feel everyones emotions and affect everyones emotions as well Roseanne can control water and James can see peoples fears.

I dont know my dads, but my mom is an empath like me I inherited her power.

He can bring peoples fears to life or prevent them from ever happening. Just depends on which side he stands on.

Sounds like something out of the Shadow Kingdom.

Its rumored that our dad is from there and thats why he keeps his power a secret. Roseanne says while walking over and taking a seat next to us.

Roseanne! Dont spread such awful things. Rosella was trying to keep her posture.

You dont have to always be so poised and proper you can let your guard down around us we are family!

My dad yells at me. Im suppose to be the next queen so I must stay poised and proper because you never know who is watching. God knows what hes said and done to mom.

If he had his way James would be taking over the throne not me. That was it! The rumor and Jamess power they all lead to the same place.

With how he acts we dont know anymore. Hes getting worse by the day. We put a brave face on for mom, but not knowing his power we dont know how to take him down.

We can talk to my dad about it in the morning. Lets get some sleep. With that we all decided to share the bed so none of us were alone even if we were in the same room.

When morning came, I was by myself. I stretched my arms above my head and headed for my bathroom to take a quick shower. After my shower I came back out to my room and I was still alone. Weird. I went to my walk in closet and there were a ton of purple, blue, and black dresses with some red ones thrown in there too. I picked a red summer dress and some black flats to wear, then went to do my hair. I styled it half up half down with my curls running down my back. I put in cute black studded earrings and a gold bracelet on and went downstairs for breakfast. As I entered the dinning room I was met with banners and streamers and all my friends and family.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! They all yelled! My birthday! I had forgotten all about it! Jasper and Ametrine came up to me and gave me a hug.

We wanted this year to be special since we are finally together! Jasper exclaimed.

You did all of this just for me?

It was Jaspers idea! So, tonight to celebrate your birthday and the welcoming of Anna we are having a ball! My father exclaimed.

That sounds perfect! Its time to welcome us home anyways! I said with a huge grin on my face as I hugged my siblings. We sat down to eat and then James cleared his throat.

Dad there is something I wanted to discuss.

I want Leora to have a guard until we catch whoever is after her! James exclaimed!

What?! Like twenty-four seven? I asked eyes wide, and he just nodded his head.

Honestly, I like the idea dear. It will put my heart at ease knowing your safe. After breakfast Im assigning you all guards. Even you Anna. My heart swelled knowing that my biological parents cared about me so much but knowing that I wouldnt have any alone time scared me.

Its just until we know you are safe dear. We already lost you once we dont want to lose you or any of your siblings ever again! My mother looked heartbroken just thinking about the past sixteen years she had to spend searching for me wondering if I was even still alive.

Okay, but only because I dont want to put any more stress on you.

Thank you Leora that means a lot to your mother and I! My father stood up and wrapped me a warm hug. I hugged him back tightly.

By the way what kind of animals do you have here? I know you have Pegasus, but what else is there?

Well, before the ball we can take you to the village pet market and we can get you your own Celestial Realm pet if you would like. My mother stated excitedly.

Just not another dragon! My father said glaring daggers at Jasper.

Wait you have a dragon!?

Yup his name is Spark, and he stays mostly in a cave on the south side of the Castle grounds want to come with me to feed him breakfast? Jasper asked with excitement in his eyes.

He is friendly right? Anna asked a little nervous about being near an actual dragon.

Of course, dear! If you want, you can come with us to get your own pet as well. If its castle trained it can stay in the castle with you, if not we can build a habitat on the castle grounds for it!

I have a pet unicorn! Her name is Shimmer! Ametrine stated proudly.

Can we go to the pet market after breakfast? Anna asked.

Sounds like a plan to me! What do you think? My mother turned her gaze towards me, and I nodded my head.

Sounds perfect! I dont think Im ready to meet a dragon just yet. We all sat down and had quiet conversations amongst ourselves while we ate, but all I could think about was what type of pet I was going to get, if I was even going to get one. After breakfast my mother, Anna, James, and I all loaded up into the coach with our assigned guards. Nick was assigned to Anna since they spend almost every second together anyways. Mom already had a guard assigned to her. His name was Sir Johnathan or Johnny boy as James calls him. My guards name is Sir William. James keeps glaring at him and pulling me closer to him.

Are you alright? You seem almost territorial. I ask James kissing his cheek.

I dont trust Will to keep his hands to himself. James starts nuzzling his nose into my neck.

Dont worry my love! You are the only one that has my heart! I hug him tightly and give him a kiss.

So amica mea what type of pet are you hoping to find? I start to think and turn to Anna.

Im not sure. Anna, What about you?

Something that connects to me and that I will get along with. Anna says excitedly.

I just want something that I can keep in the castle with me. A pet that will be my best friend and confidant.

I can understand that darling. That is how your siblings chose which pets they got. They knew what species they wanted but the animal chose them. My mother spoke up.

Trust me you will know. Im hoping to find my pet this time around as well. Sometimes you dont find a pet the first time around. Your father has a phoenix.

A phoenix?! Thats so cool! Anna was amazed while I was getting more and more worried about what pet to pick. Soon we were at the pet shop. We exit the carriage and enter the shop. I look around and see multiple different type of pets. There are phoenix, unicorns, baby dragons, and many more. Anna goes over to little puppies, while Im drawn to kittens with wings.

I see you are drawn to these precious kittens. The pet shop owner says to me.

They are so cute! I tell her while watching the kittens play. One of the kittens finally notice me and walks over to inspect me. Its a pure white cat with golden wings and golden tipped ears. She rubs her back against my hand and purrs.

Well, hello there cutie! Im Princess Amethyst but you can call me Leora! Would you like to come home with me? I start petting her as she continues to purr.

I would love to come home with you Leora! What shall you name me?! I jerk my head up.

Did you just talk?! I ask her.

Yes, I did! When you find your perfect match, you can hear your animal speak! The cute kitten replied. I was baffled.

What would you like your name to be? I asked her giving her the chance to choose her name.

Something regal please. Something worthy of a princess such as yourself. I started to think and realized I didnt know any regal names.

Mom, can you come here please? Is it alright if I asked my mom? She nodded her head and my mom came over.

I found my pet. I pick up my kitten and show her to my mom.

Yes, I did. Meet Bruce my new hell hound puppy! Anna replied cuddling her new pet.
