The Housewarming

(Lisanna) I looked on the whole vicinity of the house, I can still imagine on how mom and dad were lying on this very floor of the living room where we already cleaned the blood off. The bodies were already at the morgue as Risanna and I decided to hold a secret funeral for the both of them. I gulped down as I let out a deep sigh, that is not even a relief, and that is not also out of sadness. That is how I let my frustrations out from my system, I do not have any more tears to come out from my eyes it has all been dried out before I could even notice. I do not have the time to complain, I do not even have the time to mourn. I went back to my room as I saw the dress I would be wearing for tonight’s housewarming. I do not know anyone aside from the gang, that is for sure but I know that we will be fine. Our grandfather was once the leader of the trident so I am sure that they will still give us a little respect, even for a bit. “Too much pressure, huh?” I snapped when I heard Ris said that to me. I scoffed in disbelief upon hearing that and looked back. “Does it show that much?” I asked and he nodded while smiling at me. “You are strong, sister. I wonder where that came from.” She commented as I chuckles upon hearing that. “I do not know that you are talking about.” I said and sat at the foot of the bed. “DO not worry any of it, what could happen later this evening. Asley would be here and of course, your boyfriend will still be.” She said as I laugh once again. “Why do you always remind me of being Luke’s girlfriend?” I asked and she just shrugged. “Nothing, because you looked like you are not his girlfriend.” She answered as I nodded in return. She might be right about it. We got that empty label, but I am still not sure if I do really like him or not. It just started with a joke, and now, I announced it with everyone, I am now eating all the words and actions I took mindlessly. “You know? We should not be stalling the time like this. Come on, the hostess must be the most beautiful in this evening.” She said and grabbed my hand, and pulled me towards the vanity mirror and let me sat on the seat in front of it. “Ris, no matter what happens, promise me that you would trust me all the way, until the end.” I said to her and she showed me a light smile. “That is already given, you do not have to say that, any of that.” she answered as I nodded with a smile. After an hour, I heard plenty of cars arriving in front of our house. I know for sure that it will be the gang and behind them were the other people included in the whole organization they were talking about. I am not sure if I am already ready for this huge responsibility on my shoulder, but one thing is for sure, the culprit is one of them and I have to find that very person. Not to kill him or her, but to ask the reason behind that nonsense decisions of that person. “Hey, Luke is here.” She said as I looked on the door. It opened wide as I saw him entering with that little smile of his and hugged me right away. “I am sorry for your loss.” He whispered to my ear as I smiled and nodded. “I did not take any losses, this time.” I answered as he distances himself from me. “I know, I was just saying.” He insisted as I chuckles. I also saw the others entering the house, Asley, Brett, Leigh and Ashford. They were all looking around like this is their first time entering the house of the Kings. “Whoa, this house looks great.” Brent said as he started looking around and finally on those pictures frame that I purposedly put on each tables. Every part of the house, every side where they could have a full and great view on it. I have to let them see that we are a happy and complete family. That way, they would not be thinking that we are fighting for this stupid land where in fact, I do not like now. “Care to introduce me to all of them?” I sarcastically asked to Asley when I saw that strangers, majority were elders, entering the house. “Mr. Locke, this is Lisanna King, the daughter and the hostess of this party.” He said to this tall man who was looking down on me like I was nothing. “I am Lisanna, welcome.” I greeted with a smile. “Alfred did not say anything about his granddaughter.” He said to me, and he is talking about my grandfather. “We lived at the city so we did not have that many chances to visit him every time.” I answered and he nodded. “Where are your parents? Do not tell me that the household was only managed by a kid?” he asked to me, and I admit that I was hurt by it. “They were out of town, they have things to do and they gave this task on me, and my twin.” I answered as he looked a bit surprised by it. “You have a twin?” he asked as I nodded. “Where is she?” he asked once again and that made me feel suspicious towards him. “She must be at the kitchen preparing foods, do you want to meet her?” I asked with still a wide smile on my face. “I can see my way on it, do not mind.” he answered and nonchalantly walked away from us. “Who is that man?” I asked to Asley the moment that the man left. “The Kings’ rival. Locke has been the family who wanted the leadership for decades.” He answered. “Looks like we have now the first suspect.” I said as I smiled, greeting the next family. An hour again has passed and more families entered the house, I was being introduced one by one and I should have recorded my name for them to hear whenever the door was opened. “And that was it. You just saw each leaders of the family around table.” Asley said to me as I nodded and let out a deep sigh. “That was a relief. Then, let us start the party.” I answered with a smirk. I nodded at the DJ who was playing some music and she grinned at me as she started the party on the beat. I am constantly roaming around the place, moving on different tables and talking to the people I do not know who. I am not complaining as I could hear different stories, I just heard how families of the elite would always get together on a party like this, like a little gathering to boast their own ego of being a leader. I reached the kitchen as I was about to call my twin when I saw that man from earlier. It's Mr. Locke, and as I look on how their conversation is going on, I could see that it was quite an easygoing one. It is in a very different mood compared on how he talked to me earlier. Something is going on, I can put my finger on it but there is definitely one. “Lis.” I was taken aback when someone called my name. I looked behind as I saw Asley standing and looking on me. “What do you want? Drinks is that way.” I answered to him and he chuckles. I saw him looked what was behind me and I slightly smiled. “What is going on there?” he asked as I shrugged my shoulders off. “I do not know and I do not care at all.” I said to him and he scoffed. “Do not tell me that he is creating a civil war?” he asked as I quickly stared on him. “What in the hell are you talking about?” I exclaimed and he shook hi head and brush it off away. “Nothing, will get some drinks.” He plainly said and walked away. I watched him walked towards counter table as Mr. Locke saw his existence. He slowly moves away as he bid goodbye to my twin. He gears towards the exit, where I was standing and he was plainly staring on me as he finally left. I quickly walked towards Ris and grabbed her wrist to drag her at the corner. “Hey, where were you? I just talked to that man, I forgot his name, and he is complimenting our grandfather.” Ris quickly said to me as I slowly let go off her hand. “What?” I asked to her. “Mr. Locke. That man is a good man, you should talk to him.” She happily said to me. I glances over at Asley and I know that he is eavesdropping on our conversation. “What do you mean a good man?” I asked Ris, as I purposedly increase the volume of my voice. “What? I mean, I think he is great with our grandfather. He respects him and I could see that he is mourning over him.” She answered. “Are you sure our grandfather is the one he is mourning for?” I asked and she chuckles. “I mean yeah! Who knows about our parents’ death?” she asked as I plainly stared on her without answering it right away. “Oh right, the killer. But Lis, can we not just move on with our lives and let the authorities search for the killer?” she asked to me, with desperation. “I am letting the authorities do the investigation, but I will never move on with any of this.” I firmly said to her and walked away. I reached the backyard as I stand in the middle of the quiet place. All of the people were at the living room and front yard having booze and music, so I can have my own peace. I am not crying, I do not have time for that. I have to use my time in thinking how could I corner the culprit in one go. “You are worrying too soon on what would the future holds?” I heard Asley asked to me, I glances on him and he handed me a can of drink. I gladly accepted with a little smile, and snapped it out. “I am worrying on how can I go back on being a normal kid.” I answered to him. “You cannot. You just entered a world that no one can steps out just she wants to.” He said back to me. “I did not entered this just because I wants to, I was forced and now I am stuck in the middle of this desert without seeing the end of the land.” I firmly said to him. “Then, let me be your oasis. I can help you with it.” he offered, I looked intently on him. “Here you are, Lisanna!” I looked back and it was Luke with a huge smile on his face. “Luke, is there something wrong?” I asked to him and he shook his head. “Nothing, but I was searching for you all around.” He answered and his gazes landed on Asley. “Hey jerk, what are you doing with my girlfriend?” he asked and he slowly walked towards him. “He gave me a drink, that is all.” I said and stood in the middle of them. “Really? Then, let’s go, come with me.” Luke said and gently grabbed my hand. “Where are we going?” I asked to him and he smirked. “It is time to meet the parents.” He answered as I felt my eyes widened in too much disbelief. ---
