Alpha Terrence’s POV
“Alpha, we prepare everything that you want us to prepare, but still, we don’t see Alpha Jaxon’s warriors near our premises.” My Beta rushed towards me as I looked at the map on the table.
It was the map of our land that my father, the late Alpha, had prepared. My forehead creased as I slowly processed what he had announced; it was strange to hear Alpha Jaxon wouldn’t ever have done his threat. Ha, perhaps he realized my pack wasn’t the easiest enemy he could fight with.
Staring at the small miniature of our pack house, a sly smile crept into my lips. I finally had the chance to act like a leader in our pack. Since I was a child, I did my best to let my father see how capable I was, like him, yet he failed to acknowledge it.
Every mistake I had ever made caught his attention, not every effort I spent to be his deserving heir. Taking a sigh, I walked closer to the swivel chair he used whenever he was talking with me. He didn’t know that despite his disapproval, I would get his leadership by hook or crook.
“Did you think he finally realized we aren’t easy to bully with? Alpha Jaxon isn’t the type of man who will attack our pack without getting ready. He’s known because of how cunning and merciless he is.” My fingers tapped on the table, gazing at my Beta to know about his opinions.
“What I know, Alpha Terrence will never let his enemy slide. You know how capable he is when it comes to torturing wolves in our land. Everyone is too scared to fight against him; it’s the Alpha King who has the strength to fight back against him.” My Beta responded.
“I’m not scared of his bullshit. If he thinks he can scare us, then he’s wrong. I will never step back since he’s the one who’s trying to invade our pack.” I angrily snarled, as I couldn’t stop the enviousness lashing in my heart as I heard how he used some flowery words when it came to Alpha Jaxon.
“Your father gives importance to our members because without them, we can’t be called a pack. They’re your people. Without them you can’t lead; you can’t be called an Alpha.” My Beta attempted to correct me, making me give him a glare.
How dare he praise my enemy in front of me? He vowed to be loyal to me, not to Alpha Jaxon.
“If I want to be lectured, then I prefer to hear those words coming from a teacher. I know they’re my people, but they need to protect their Alpha, too. If I was the first one who will die in the end, what did you think will happen to my members?”
“It’s their job to protect the Alpha, whatever might happen, because if the leader died, then the battle will end.” I added it, and I didn’t get any response coming from him. It seemed like he didn’t expect that I would say those words in front of his face.
My father used to be selfless, protecting his pack no matter what might happen, but I was different. I didn’t get the idea that I would risk my whole life just for my members, especially if I was the one who got the higher rank.
Instead of correcting, why didn't he go to the pack borders and check everything out? Alpha Jaxon might have another plan, and that was to ensure that I would lose in the end. If it wasn’t from my father’s Beta, I won’t ever choose him to be my trusted hand.
He bowed his head; I noticed his hands turned into a fist, but he didn’t have the strength to fight against me. Of course, he wouldn’t ever like to be punished. His father would probably scold him if he discovered that his beloved son would ruin the ideal image he had.
“Alpha Terrence!” Greta screamed. My forehead creased when I noticed she was panting, causing me to think that there might be possibly an emergency that had happened. She ran fast, yanking my shoulders, pulling me to be out from my office.
“Greta, what are you doing here? You know you can’t come here without the permission of our Alpha. We’re preparing the battle for Alpha Jaxon.” My Beta used his intimidating tone, giving Greta a nasty glare.
“My apologies, Beta. I can’t stop myself from coming here because Luna Vina escaped from the attic. Most of the guards are searching for her, yet we can’t locate her.” Greta bowed her head, trembling in fear as she couldn’t look back at my Beta.
“What did you say? Vina is gone!” My wolf howled in anger and panic after hearing those words coming from Greta’s mouth.
“I checked the attic because I prepared a meal for her, but she’s unresponsive. I don’t see her, and probably she is maybe out from our pack now,” she cried, helplessly like she was blaming herself. “Alpha Terrence, I’m sorry. If it's not me, then Luna Vina will stay here. She may be upset—
“Inform the guards to check the borders. I want her to be back in our pack, dead or alive.” I ordered my beta. I noticed how he disliked what I had said, but he didn’t have the choice but to obey my commands.
Rushing out from the office, my guards started locating her, yet we couldn’t find her. Vina might be terrified to be caught; that’s why she would do her best to hide from me. My wolf kept growling, blaming me for losing her because I gave importance to my mate. I couldn’t understand what he meant because he was talking about our mate, yet he loved Vina more than Greta.
“Alpha, we still can’t find her. It’s almost midnight.” My Beta informed me, and most of the guards start going back to their home. Nodding my head, in the midst of taking a sigh, I turned my back against him and decided to go back from the pack house.
I would like to know what happened and how she possibly left the pack without my guards noticing it. Vina was only an Omega I had chosen to act as my Luna. She didn’t think twice about accepting it because she had deep feelings for me.
I chose her because I noticed how my father adored her so much to the point that he liked to adopt her. His favoritism to Vina makes me question why he didn’t bother to give me that treatment. Vina was the only way for me to have the throne, which I rightly guessed since he didn’t think twice to give it to me after marrying her.
My footsteps were heavy, creating a loud noise that led the other members to shake in fear of me. Desperation led me to become notoriously known for being the heartless Alpha of our pack.
“What happened? I want to know how Vina escaped! My canines were exposed so they couldn’t handle standing in front of me. They started flinching in fear that I might kill them.
“Alpha, we don’t know Luna Vina escaped. We only found out about it when Greta rushed to your office. We’re helping the guards to search for her.”
“Yes, Alpha. If you want, we can check the attic.” I heard a woman, the trusted Omega of Vina, suggest. She was calm like usual.
“Are you trying to say that Greta assumed that she leave the pack?” I asked.
“We just want to make sure that Luna Vina isn’t in the attic. We don’t check it after Greta announces it.” Karen replied.
