Chapter 19

Theodore hadn't grasped the situation when he was already being ushered out by the guards. A single phone call had caused such a drastic reaction from Hector. Theodore's instincts told him this was likely linked to the investigation into Jonathan. Although he had managed to get Jonathan's name, he couldn't uncover any specific information about him. Therefore, he had sought Hector for a personal meeting. Hector's change of attitude indicated that Jonathan was definitely not an ordinary soldier. "Let's go! Get me back quickly!" Theodore didn't dare delay. He had to inform Vincent as soon as possible. The Roberts family might have provoked someone truly formidable. However, as Theodore's car entered the highway, four black jeeps suddenly caught up with his car and forced it to stop. Screech! The driver immediately hit the brakes. "What's going on?" Sitting in the back seat, Theodore asked impatiently. But as soon as he finished speaking, the car door was yanked open. A team of heavily armed special forces soldiers raised their guns and pointed them at everyone in the car. "Theodore Roberts, you are now under suspension pending investigation!" Theodore's face turned grim. 'Suspension pending investigation? I'm a colonel. I can't be suspended casually!' "How dare you! Do you know who you're messing with? Impersonating military personnel is a serious crime!" Theodore shouted coldly and took out his ID from his pocket. "I'm a colonel. You're asking for trouble!" "Don't move!" An icy voice suddenly rang out. A brigadier general stepped forward, saluted Theodore, and presented a special warrant. "Theodore Roberts, this is your warrant!" "What?" Theodore's heart raced. His hands trembled slightly as he took the warrant. The red seal indicated that it was a special military order issued by Imperial Tower. He had a very bad feeling. 'I was just trying to make some indirect inquiries about Jonathan, but it has alarmed Imperial Tower. Jonathan might be more dangerous and terrifying than I imagined!' There was no time for Theodore to imagine much or contact other members of the Roberts family. "Save your words for the interrogation room. Now, take him away!" At the brigadier general's command, several soldiers forcibly took Theodore to one of the jeeps. Meanwhile, Vincent had no idea what was going on. He stood in the hall of the Roberts Villa, his face grim. "Still no news from Theodore?" With seven days passing quickly, Vincent was making final arrangements. The core members of the Roberts family waited for his next instructions. "No, Lord. He might be held up with military matters. Should we send someone to Southern River Military District to inquire?" one subordinate suggested. Vincent frowned, thought for a moment, and waved his hand. "No need. Theodore is reliable. He wouldn't go missing without reason. He must be preparing something. Proceed according to the original plan. We'll see what Jonathan intends to do in seven days!" After being escorted back to the villa, Olivia collapsed again due to the weakness from surgery and the emotional trauma. Jonathan stayed by the bedside. He didn't want anything to happen to Olivia and Ruby again. He knew Olivia needed time to recover physically and process everything that had happened at the Harrison Villa. Ruby, too, needed time to recover from the terrible car accident. At that moment, a member of the Thunderbolt Squad hurried to the bedside and reported, "General, everything is set. Our people are all in Yonderville. Your four adjutants are stationed outside the city, ready to follow your orders at any moment." "Good." Jonathan nodded. His eyes were filled with murderous intent. "How is Michael?" "As per your orders, we provide him with the best medical treatment and then torture him severely." The soldier saluted. "But he's a coward. After only one day, he was already begging for mercy." "Keep making him suffer. He and his family will truly descend into hell in seven days!" Jonathan commanded. *** Time flew by. During these seven days, Jonathan stayed by Olivia and Ruby's side. Olivia occasionally woke up from her coma and locked eyes with Jonathan. There were so many things they wanted to say to each other, but they didn't know where to begin. Olivia didn't know how to face Jonathan. It felt like he had suddenly barged into her life, leaving her at a loss. For five years, she had hated Jonathan, yet she thought about him constantly. In countless moments of despair, she wished for Jonathan to appear. But every time, disappointment broke her heart a little more. This time, when she was in her most helpless and desperate moment, she didn't even hope for Jonathan to show up, yet he did. He was like a light illuminating her future. However, she couldn't respond. Instead, she burdened Jonathan with immense pressure. She failed to get help from the Harrison family. Jonathan had to face the threat of the Roberts family alone. Olivia was reluctant to put more pressure on Jonathan, but she must tell him that Ruby's optic nerve was damaged and she might become permanently blind. Olivia hesitated to speak. Just then, Ruby held the Barbie doll Jonathan had bought for her and said with a smile, "This is the first gift Daddy gave me. Thanks, Daddy!" Jonathan rubbed her hair with a smile. "Ruby, if you like it, I'll buy you one every day." He wanted to make up for the fatherly love Ruby had missed these past five years. However, just as Jonathan was immersed in a blissful time, Ruby's words struck him like a blow. "Daddy, I want to see you and Mommy. Why can't I see clearly anymore? I used to be able to see everything." Ruby blinked her eyes hard, but there seemed to be no sparkle in her pupils.
