Olivia had never felt so humiliated as she did now. It was all because of Jonathan. She tried to love him because he had appeared when she was in her deepest despair and saved her and Ruby.
But today, Jonathan's actions made Olivia feel both scared and disgusted. Why did he have to claim in front of everyone that he had connections with a five-star general? Why did he keep embarrassing her? It was a total lie!
Olivia wiped away her tears, covered her mouth, and ran out of the hall.
Jonathan felt a sharp pain in his heart and quickly caught up with Olivia at the entrance of the Harrison Villa. He grabbed her arm and said, "Olivia, I'm sorry. It's my fault. I didn't consider your feelings."
"Let go of me." Olivia struggled to push Jonathan away, her eyes filled with tears. She sobbed in grievance. "Jonathan, I thought you were the one who would accompany me for the rest of my life. But I'm very disappointed in you. Why did you have to boast in front of so many people? We were mocked and ridiculed, just like monkeys in a circus. Why did you do that?"
Olivia cried heartbrokenly as she pounded Jonathan's chest with her fists and squatted down on the ground. She was already fragile and particularly cared about what the Harrison family thought of her. Now, because of Jonathan, the Harrison family mocked them, and she completely broke down.
Overwhelmed with guilt, Jonathan stood there in a daze. He hadn't expected that his casual words would hurt Olivia so much, even though he was telling the truth.
He knelt on one knee, placed his hands on Olivia's shoulders, and asked seriously, "Olivia, do you trust me? I can really get the invitation cards."
Hearing this, Olivia looked up at him with teary eyes. She looked so pitiful and endearing. Her eyelashes fluttered as she asked suspiciously, "Are you serious?"
Jonathan nodded, "Yes. I can guarantee it. Since they always look down on you, I'll show them. We can get as many invitation cards as we want. As for tomorrow night's special banquet in Yonderville, actually… I am the..."
Jonathan didn't want to hide it anymore. He wanted to tell Olivia that there was nothing he couldn't solve and that he was the highly anticipated five-star general.
However, Olivia suddenly nodded and interrupted, "Alright, I trust you. I'll go and tell them that the man I chose is better than Mark and better than they think."
Everyone scoffed when Olivia and Jonathan returned.
"Oh, you came back. We thought you'd left because of the shame."
"Did you leave to get the invitation cards? Sure, show us then."
"Don't be ridiculous. How could these two losers get the invitation cards?"
Facing the humiliation from the Harrison family, Olivia wiped away her tears, held Jonathan's arm tightly, raised her chin, and looked at them proudly. "Jonathan said he would get the invitation cards, and I believe him. He is better than you think. I trust my judgment."
The hall fell into a dead silence instantly.
Then, there was a burst of loud laughter.
Hearing these mocking laughs and seeing their disdainful expressions, Olivia took a step back in fear. She gripped Jonathan's arm tightly and looked up at him with pleading eyes.
Jonathan just gave her a faint smile and said, "Don't worry. Trust me."
"Haha. No way! Olivia, have you lost your mind? Do you still believe in this loser?"
"You two are killing me. I just heard the funniest joke."
"Hahaha! Jonathan, listen up, if you can get even one invitation card, I'll bow and apologize to you. Did you hear that? Bow and apologize. Too bad it's just a fantasy for you." The crowd's mocking continued. Mark sat at the most prominent seat watching Jonathan arrogantly.
Jagger's face was extremely grim. He glared at Jonathan and Olivia, shouting, "Enough! This is so humiliating. Get out of here!" Sally even sprung up from her seat, yelled, and scolded them.
However, Jonathan just calmly took out his phone, dialed a number, and said in a cold voice, "I want to see a box of invitation cards for tomorrow night's special banquet in five minutes."
