Chapter 50

1075 Words
Jonathan hung up the phone, leaving the entire hall in a dead silence. Everyone fixed their eyes on him, stunned by the aura of authority and coldness he had displayed during the call. They couldn't help but wonder if what Jonathan said was true. Chad was the first to break the silence. He glared at Jonathan and shouted, "What are you doing? Did you really make a call? Was it to a dead number? Damn it! Stop pretending. Who could you possibly call? Do you think we are idiots?" With that, Chad rushed over and snatched Jonathan's phone. He smashed it on the ground and stomped it into pieces. Seeing this, Jonathan frowned and clenched his fists tightly. In his eyes, Chad was already a dead man. But Olivia tugged on his arm and shook her head slightly. Chad thought he had intimidated Jonathan and sneered, "Aren't you tough? Try being tough now. You made a phone call, right? What a joke!" Mark chuckled and turned to Samuel, "Mr. Harrison, Jonathan must have lost his mind." Samuel's face was icy. He struck the ground with his cane and shouted, "Jonathan, that's enough! This is the Harrison family's banquet. You have no place here. Get out now!" With Samuel's command, the rest of the Harrison family began to hurl insults at Jonathan. "Yes. Get out!" "Loser, get out! Take your blind daughter with you." "Shameless trash, it's disgusting to have you here." Faced with the angry crowd, Olivia backed away in fear and pulled Jonathan's arm, trying to leave. Jagger and Sally looked extremely embarrassed and dared not intervene. After all, their entire family was being humiliated. Seeing that Jonathan and Olivia didn't move, Jagger slammed the table and stood up in anger. "Olivia! Take him away, you disgraceful wretch!" Olivia nodded repeatedly and apologized to everyone, "I'm sorry. We'll leave right away." She turned to Jonathan, pleading, "Jonathan, let's go. Please, let's not anger Grandpa anymore. We can talk about this later." Seeing the anxious and ashamed look in Olivia's eyes, Jonathan felt a deep pain in his heart. He had no choice but to pick up the frightened Ruby and leave the hall. Even after they left, the insults from the hall continued. Samuel forced a smile. "Mr. Newton, I apologize for that disgraceful display." Mark waved it off. "It's okay, Mr. Harrison. Jonathan is just a bum. Everyone knows he has nothing to do with the Harrison family. Olivia shouldn't have brought him back." "Exactly. He is just a homeless piece of garbage. He should be grateful that we took him in," Declan sneered. After a few more insults directed at Jonathan, they continued the banquet. Mark asked Samuel, "Mr. Harrison, did the Harrison family secure the cooperation with the Apex Group?" Samuel's face lit up with excitement. "Of course we did. Olivia has nothing. She has to rely on the Harrison family." "That's great. Since the Newton Group is also going to cooperate with the Apex Group, how about we join forces and become partners? What do you think?" Mark suggested with a smile. "That would be excellent. We could achieve great things in Yonderville," Samuel agreed enthusiastically. Sophia, sitting beside Mark, nudged him with her foot under the table. Mark immediately caught on and said, "Mr. Harrison, Olivia has been away from the Harrison family for five years. She is inexperienced. Why not let Sophia manage this cooperation? She has been handling the family's business for five years. You can count on her." Samuel frowned slightly and smiled, "Sure, I had already planned for Sophia to manage this cooperation." "That's wise of you," Mark flattered while Sophia beamed with joy. At that moment, the butler rushed in with a panicked look and even tripped at the door. Everyone burst into laughter. Samuel demanded in a cold voice, "Why the rush? You're all over the place. Can't you see we have guests? What's the matter?" The butler, pale-faced, stammered, "Sir, a Yonderville military vehicle arrived at the gate. They said they came to deliver invitation cards." Upon hearing that, everyone fell silent and stared at each other in disbelief. 'What's going on? A Yonderville military vehicle arrived at the Harrison Villa to deliver invitation cards?!' Everyone recalled Jonathan's words from earlier. They all gasped in shock and took deep breaths. For a moment, everyone was frozen in place. The butler sweated profusely, unsure of what to say. "Sir, what do we do now?" Unable to bear the suspense, the butler asked again. Samuel snapped out of his stupor and asked urgently, "What did you say? Invitation cards?" The butler nodded vigorously, "Yes, sir. They said they're here to deliver the invitation cards for tomorrow night's special banquet and need someone to receive them." The Harrison family members were thrilled. Samuel, supported by a servant, rushed to the door, shouting, "Quick, take me there." A dozen Harrison family members followed Samuel to the gate. Mark, full of doubt, also got up and followed. When they reached the gate, they saw a green military vehicle parked outside. Four fully armed soldiers with guns stood by it. In the front was a man in military uniform. He was a second lieutenant. "Hello, you are..." Samuel stepped forward, his eyes fixed on the military jeep. The second lieutenant stepped forward and explained, "I am here on orders to deliver invitation cards for tomorrow night's special banquet to the Harrison family." He waved his hand, and the jeep's rear doors opened. Four soldiers unloaded several large boxes from the vehicle and opened them in front of everyone. They were filled with invitation cards. To everyone's shock, they were identical to the ones Mark had sent earlier. Everyone was completely dumbfounded. They finally realized that Jonathan's claim of getting a box of invitation cards in five minutes was true. And there were several boxes in front of them. Samuel panicked. His legs started trembling. 'Since when have the invitation cards for the special banquet in Yonderville become so worthless?' 'No. They can't be worthless. This is an opportunity to meet a five-star general. If that's the case...' Everyone speculated about Jonathan's true identity. How could he summon several boxes of invitation cards with just one phone call? "Colonel Wellington said that Mr. Parker must personally receive them," the second lieutenant stated calmly. "Oh right, Jonathan." Samuel turned to the butler, "Did you hear that? Go find Jonathan, now!"
