The five chairmen exchanged smiles. "Mrs. Parker, we can't say much. From now on, we're partners. We have other matters to attend to, so we'll be leaving now. Goodbye."
With that, the five chairmen left, leaving the Harrison family members in shock.
As soon as they were gone, the meeting room burst into chatter.
"Oh my God! What just happened? Was I seeing things?"
"I don't get it. What did Olivia do to get contracts from all five companies?"
"Could it be Jonathan? He did say there would be contracts delivered today."
The room buzzed with speculation.
Samuel snapped out of his stupor, rushed over to Olivia, and grabbed the contracts from her hands. His eyes gleamed with excitement. "Unbelievable! With these contracts, this project will proceed smoothly, and the Harrison family will secure its place in Yonderville. Olivia, you've done an amazing job. Thank you."
Olivia's mind replayed Jonathan's words from the previous day. 'Could these chairmen be Jonathan's friends? But they're all much older than him and incredibly influential. Who exactly is Jonathan?'
Before she could ponder further, Sally stepped forward and grinned. "Dad, Olivia secured the contracts. She must remain the project leader."
Samuel nodded ecstatically. "Sure. Olivia, keep up the good work. I have high hopes for you."
This statement made Sophia's family's faces turn ashen.
They never expected the suppliers to actually come through just as Jonathan had predicted.
'Damn Jonathan, how did you pull this off?' Sophia seethed with rage. Her eyes were filled with venom as she glared at Olivia being praised.
In the midst of the crowd's praise, Olivia remained humble and promised to work hard.
Meanwhile, the five chairmen didn't go far but gathered nearby. Jonathan stood smoking by the roadside.
They stood to the side waiting cautiously because Simon was bowing with immense respect behind Jonathan.
The richest man in Yonderville was actually standing humbly behind this young man. Undoubtedly, he was not an ordinary man.
"Mr. Reed, it's done," one chairman announced.
Simon nodded and said to Jonathan respectfully, "Mr. Parker, everything has been handled. Any further instructions?"
Jonathan exhaled, flicked the cigarette butt into a trash can, and nodded. "Good job."
Without waiting for their reactions, he walked away, leaving behind five stunned chairmen.
"Mr. Reed, who is that?" one of the chairmen asked.
Simon shot him a cold look. "Don't ask questions you shouldn't. Just do your job. You only need to know that in front of him, I'm nothing more than an ant."
What?
This revelation shook the five chairmen to their core.
Simon was one of the most powerful figures in Yonderville. He could decide many fates with just a word, but he referred to himself as an ant in front of the young man. Who was Jonathan? It was scary!
Jonathan returned home to play a role-playing game with Ruby.
"Mommy!" Ruby saw Olivia enter tiredly and ran barefoot into her arms.
Olivia crouched down and picked up Ruby with a loving smile.
Jonathan stood up and smiled in an apron. "Dinner is ready. Let's eat together. Ruby is hungry."
As he turned to head to the kitchen, Olivia stopped him, bit her lip, and gathered her courage. "Jonathan, can you tell me about the five chairmen who came today? Did you arrange that? What's your connection with them?"
Jonathan chuckled. "They had some dealings with the Parker family. I asked them for a favor, and they agreed out of respect for our past ties. Don't overthink it. Just focus on your work and make the most of this opportunity."
Tears of gratitude filled Olivia's eyes. She nodded, "Thank you, Jonathan."
Jonathan simply smiled and replied, "There’s no need to thank me. Let's get the table set."
He proceeded to set the table and dish out the meal. "Try it while it's hot."
Ruby's eyes sparkled as she stared at the juicy steak. "Mommy, it's steak! I've never had Daddy's steak before!"
Olivia patted Ruby's head. "There will be plenty more. Now, eat up."
The family shared a warm meal in their cozy home.
During lunch, Olivia spoke up, "This afternoon, I need to visit the factory to assess the damage and procure new equipment. The workers need replacing too. Jonathan, could you stay with Ruby?"
She bit the fork with a shy smile. She always felt a bit uneasy and even unreal when she said these words.
Jonathan looked at her and said, "I'll come with you."
Olivia's heart skipped a beat. She wanted Jonathan's company for the safety it provided.
"What about Ruby?" she asked.
Jonathan thought for a moment. "I'll call Benjamin to look after her."
"Ruby, would you like to play with Benjamin?" Jonathan stroked Ruby's head lovingly.
"Yay! I like him!" Ruby cheered and clapped her hands.
That afternoon, Benjamin arrived on time and took Ruby to the amusement park.
Jonathan and Olivia went to the Harrison family's factory.
The factory was in shambles. Wrecked materials and equipment lay everywhere. Most workers had fled after the vandalism, and the place looked abandoned.
Seeing this, Olivia sighed anxiously, "If we can't process these materials on time, the project will be delayed."
"Don't worry. Everything will be fine," Jonathan reassured her calmly.
At that moment, the factory manager, Nicolas Patton, approached with a sycophantic smile. "Mrs. Parker, why did you come here? We're still cleaning up. Everything should be in order by the end of the day."
Olivia nodded. "Thank you, Mr. Patton. Have you begun hiring new workers?"
Nicolas sighed. "It's difficult. The gangs that attacked us threatened the workers too. They said they would break the workers' legs if they came back. Just now, several more resigned."
Hearing this, Olivia's face grew grim.
Suddenly, a bloodied worker stumbled into the factory and shouted for help. "Mr. Patton, they're back!"
