A convoy of black police cars suddenly surrounded the Roberts Villa!
Adrian, chief of the Yonderville Police Department, hurried over. As he looked at the bloody mess, he swallowed hard. He knew this wasn't something he should or could handle. Forcing himself to stay calm, he approached Jonathan.
It was the second time he had met Jonathan, but this time, just standing in front of Jonathan made him feel overwhelmed. It was all because of the oppressive aura Jonathan exuded in his military uniform.
After struggling to find the right words, Adrian finally spoke, "Jonathan, I'm here on official business. You've killed those you wanted. I hope you'd be willing to hand over the rest to the Yonderville police. Yonderville also seeks justice. These people need to be brought back for investigation and held accountable to give the citizens the justice they deserve."
As soon as he finished speaking, the surviving members of the Roberts family, who had been awaiting death, saw him as a savior. They scrambled to confess their crimes to the police officers brought by Adrian. After all, it was better than being killed by Jonathan.
"Of course, I will cooperate," Jonathan, not one to be blinded by rage, nodded slowly and turned to leave.
Adrian paused and then added, "Mr. Parker, please wait! On behalf of the Yonderville Police Department, I thank you for ridding us of this menace. But I also want to remind you, you might face retaliation."
Jonathan raised an eyebrow, "Who would dare to retaliate against me?"
Adrian took a deep breath and pointed southward, "You may not know, but Vincent's wife, Michael's mother, is from the Warren family, the Warren family in Zalindale. They have ten times the power of the Roberts family. They are backed by many influential figures, and they have military connections. You might not fear them, but there's also the business world, media, and many other forces that would prove difficult for you to handle."
Jonathan's eyes flashed coldly, "Thanks for the warning, but it doesn't matter. I will protect everything that is mine and crush any threats!"
Jonathan wasn't afraid. It only made him more cautious. He got the stem cell therapy drug that was used to treat Ruby's eyes and walked away. The drug monopolized by the Roberts family was its last value and proof of existence in the world.
"Mr. Parker, I hope you truly understand what I'm saying." Adrian sighed inwardly. Some things couldn't be solved by sheer power alone. The might of the military and police, while strong, sometimes paled in comparison to political and capital forces. The business and political worlds were far more intricate than they seemed, with people constantly coming and going, and everything interconnected in a complex web.
Adrian knew Jonathan wasn't an ordinary person, but there must be ordinary people around him, so they would surely be targeted.
Adrian watched Jonathan lead his men away. The entire unit disappeared without a trace as if they had never been there.
Just then, a police officer asked, "Chief, what should we do with the Roberts family?"
Adrian glanced at the Roberts Villa and waved his hand, "Take them all back for questioning!"
Adrian had long wanted to deal with the Roberts family, but he had always been cautious due to their powerful backers. If not for Jonathan's intervention, he wouldn't have believed that such a mighty family could collapse overnight!
The next day, news of the Roberts family's annihilation spread rapidly throughout Yonderville!
The entire city was in shock! No one could believe that the mighty and deeply entrenched Roberts family had been wiped out overnight! Even more horrifying was that the family head, Vincent, and his son, Michael, had met gruesome deaths at their doorstep!
But as to who had eradicated the Roberts family, no one knew, and it became a mystery everyone in Yonderville was trying to solve.
That same day, many of Yonderville's bigwigs drove to the Roberts Villa, hoping to uncover the truth. But apart from hundreds of police officers maintaining order, all they found were the smell of blood and a field of corpses.
Jonathan rushed home, his heart racing! He desperately wanted to see how Olivia was doing! If anything happened to her, he would regret it for life!
Fortunately, when he got home, Olivia was out of danger. She had just been wheeled out of surgery. The gunshot hadn't hit any vital organs and only passed through muscle. Apart from significant blood loss, she was fine.
Jonathan slowly approached his wife's bedside. Looking at the pale Olivia, he wept with a broken heart. "Why are you so foolish? Why did you come?" Jonathan shook his head. He hadn't expected that this silly woman would risk her life for him!
He was willing to give everything for her. He would never let her down!
"Jonathan... go! Just go! Ruby... our daughter... Ah... No... Jonathan, when will you come back? I'm so tired. I can't hold on any longer..." Olivia seemed to be trapped in a nightmare and was mumbling in her sleep.
Jonathan held Olivia's hand, murmuring, "Don't be afraid. From now on, I will protect you with all my might. I won't let anyone harm you! Whatever you want, I will get it for you! Even if you want the whole world, I will give it to you! I failed to protect you this time. I'm so sorry. It won't happen again."
Jonathan stayed by Olivia's side all night. He kept watching her without closing his eyes for a single moment.
They had been apart for five years. The first time he saw her was five years ago at his wedding to Bethany Stewart, that vile woman! Bethany, the daughter of the Stewart family, was Olivia's best friend and Jonathan's first love before he turned eighteen! Back then, Jonathan was totally devoted to her and was even willing to risk his life for her!
Jonathan and Bethany were a couple everyone envied and blessed in Yonderville. Their grand wedding was a spectacle. But it was also Bethany who colluded with the four major families to persecute the Parker family at their wedding! She framed Jonathan for r****g Olivia, causing his parents to die in anguish! Finally, she pursued Jonathan relentlessly and even sent assassins after him!
Jonathan still had the vivid memory of his parents committing suicide to save him! He could never forget this immense hatred!
For almost the past five years, he spent several sleepless nights, tormented by the memory of him begging Bethany to spare his parents. However, she didn't even spare him a glance and only shook her head in refusal!
"Jonathan, what do your parents' lives have to do with me? Do you still not understand? I've never loved you. You were just a tool for me to climb higher! I just want to live a grand life, to never be beneath anyone! The Parker family is about to fall. How could I marry a loser like you? I wish the Parker family would disappear right now!" Every word Bethany spoke was etched deeply into Jonathan's heart!
