Olivia clung to Jonathan's arm, pouting, "Tell me, where did this invitation come from? Who sent it? Was it Grandpa?"
Jonathan smiled gently, "It was delivered by Sophia."
"Sophia? How could that be?" Olivia looked disappointed and puzzled. The last time she saw Sophia at the Harrison Villa, Sophia had practically wished her dead on the street. How could she be the one to send the invitation?
Jonathan didn't think much of it and replied calmly, "Maybe your grandfather missed you and asked her to send the invitation. Don't overthink it. I'll go with you tomorrow. Besides, I have something to tell the Harrison family."
"What? You'll go with me? Really? But I don't think it's a good idea. Grandpa was so angry with me back then. He was bedridden for days, and then he kicked me out of the Harrison family. If you show up at his birthday banquet, he'll be furious..." Olivia's voice trailed off into a whisper.
Jonathan gently patted her head and smiled, "Don't worry. Since they've sent the invitation, they've likely considered that I might come. You're still weak. I'll go with you and take care of you. I don't want anything to happen to you again."
Hearing this, Olivia nodded, "Okay."
But after Jonathan left, Olivia sighed. To be honest, she was still very scared. Because of Jonathan, she had become the laughingstock of Yonderville.
The Harrison family's status and reputation had plummeted, and they had lost the chance to rise to a top-tier family. She had lived in the shadow of that shame and endured others' scorn and ridicule for the past five years.
The hatred in Olivia's heart for Jonathan had vanished the night he reappeared. But the Harrison family definitely hated him. What if Sophia had some scheme to lure Jonathan back? These thoughts kept Olivia restless.
Meanwhile, Jonathan walked into Ruby's room. Ruby was sitting by the window in a white dress. She was basking in the sunlight with her hands on the windowsill. But her eyes were covered with a black silk band.
This was the doctor's advice. Ruby's optic nerve had been repaired with the stem cell therapy drug from the Roberts family, but she still needed a long recovery period. Now, it was important to avoid sunlight and reduce stimulation.
"Ruby, Daddy's here," Jonathan said softly as he walked up to Ruby and crouched down beside her.
"Daddy, I miss you. I can't wait to see you." Ruby turned around. Her hands waved gently in the air before finally finding Jonathan's figure. A sweet smile spread across her face.
"Definitely. Ruby's eyes will definitely get better." Jonathan picked her up gently and said, "Ruby, Mommy is going back to the Harrison Villa for your grandpa's birthday banquet tomorrow. Do you wanna go with us?"
Upon hearing this, Ruby pouted and grumbled, "No! Mommy shouldn't go there. That old man is a bad person. And that woman is also bad. She used to hit and scold Mommy. I don't like them. I won't go!"
Ruby turned her head away in a huff. Clearly, she had recalled some unpleasant memories.
Jonathan's expression turned cold, but he quickly composed himself. 'Sophia, I've got my eye on you!'
After a moment, Jonathan asked, "Ruby, what if Mommy really wants to go?"
Ruby's eyes flickered, and after thinking for a moment, she firmly said, "Then I'll go too. I'll protect Mommy. I won't let those bad people bully her. Daddy, you'll protect Mommy too, right?"
"Of course, I'll protect you two." Jonathan affectionately ruffled Ruby's hair with a smile.
Ruby giggled, wrapped her arms around Jonathan's neck, and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
Ecstatic, Jonathan kissed Ruby until she pushed him away. "Your beard is scratchy, Daddy."
Jonathan grinned from ear to ear as he left the room.
He ran into Benjamin standing at the door. Seeing Jonathan's smile, Benjamin couldn't help but grin too.
"What are you smiling about?" Jonathan asked.
Benjamin immediately wiped the smile off his face and replied respectfully, "General, it's been a long time since I've seen you so happy. I thought you wouldn't smile anymore."
"Is that so?" Jonathan was taken aback. It seemed he hadn't smiled in a long time. He quickly gathered himself and said, "Prepare some valuable gifts. Tomorrow is Olivia's grandfather's birthday. We can't let anyone look down on her!"
Benjamin nodded firmly and asked, "General, how valuable should the gifts be?"
"I want gifts that will make everyone look at Olivia with new eyes. I want her to be the star of the banquet. I want the Harrison family to regret ever kicking her out and to beg her to come back. Arrange it now!" Jonathan's smile gradually faded as he spoke.
The next day, at Starlight Haven Hotel in Yonderville.
Today was the birthday of Samuel Harrison, the head of the Harrison family. He had rented the most expensive hall at Starlight Haven Hotel and invited many local celebrities and elites in Yonderville. The hall was filled with guests. Each of them brought valuable gifts.
When Olivia and Jonathan arrived at the hotel, it caused a commotion among the Harrison family. Upon seeing Ruby, who was hiding behind Jonathan with her eyes covered, they all rolled their eyes scornfully.
"Olivia is the disgrace of the Harrison family. She was kicked out by Mr. Samuel Harrison. But who's that guy?"
"Hey, isn't that Olivia? What's she doing here? And who's that man with her? I've never seen him before."
"No idea. Did Mr. Samuel Harrison have a change of heart and let her come back?"
"Heh, that b***h threw herself at a scumbag. She must have begged Mr. Samuel Harrison to pity her and let her come back."
"Wait, that man looks a bit like Jonathan Parker from five years ago."
"No way! He's the one who ruined the Harrison family's prospects. How dare he come here? Besides, wasn't he dead five years ago?"
