"Don't you dare!" Jonathan roared and tightened his grip on Chad's arm. Then, with a swift kick, Chad crashed to the ground with a loud thud.
"Ah! It hurts! How dare you!" Chad screamed in agony. Olivia finally snapped out of her shock. She rushed forward and grabbed Jonathan's arm, pleading, "Jonathan, please don't. He's my brother. Please don't hurt him."
"He humiliated you, and you're still pleading for him?" Jonathan asked with a frown.
Olivia glanced at Chad's distorted face and nodded. Tears streamed down her face. "Please let him go. He's my brother."
Seeing the resolve in Olivia's eyes, Jonathan finally released Chad with a forceful shove.
Chad, though freed, was already pale. His broken arm hung limply. He glared at Olivia and Jonathan with hatred, shouting, "Olivia, I won't let you go. Just wait! Don't even think of leaving!" With that, he hurriedly left the scene.
This commotion had drawn the attention of many onlookers.
"Who's that guy? He's so fierce. He even broke Chad's arm!"
"He might be tough now, but just wait until Chad comes back with backup. He'll be in for a beating. Olivia is stupid to be with such a fool."
"But he just said Olivia is his woman and that little girl is his daughter. Could he be Jonathan Parker? The one who slept with Olivia at his wedding with Bethany and almost ruined the Harrison family?"
The guests' murmurs grew louder, with more and more speculation about Jonathan's identity. Many recalled the events from five years ago and recognized Jonathan.
But none of these people were aware of what happened to the Stewart family last night.
In the world of families and powers, there were distinct hierarchies. Although the Stewart family suffered a great loss last night, it was still a matter of the upper class.
The Stewart family paid a huge price to keep the news under wraps. They tarnished the reputations of many elite families in Yonderville. The other families and small businesses had no way of accessing last night's events.
Hearing the whispers around her, Olivia became anxious. Her eyes reddened as she looked at Jonathan with worry. "Jonathan, are we in trouble? Chad has always been protected and spoiled by our family. He's never been hurt before. I'm afraid he'll retaliate. Should we leave?"
Jonathan smiled reassuringly, "Don't worry. I'm here." With that, he led Olivia and Ruby to sit down in the corner.
Only a few minutes later, Chad stormed back with a middle-aged couple. "Dad, Mom, this guy broke my arm! Olivia incited him! You have to teach them a lesson!" Chad yelled angrily.
The middle-aged man had a stern expression. His features bore some resemblance to Olivia's. The middle-aged woman beside him, though likely in her forties given Chad's age, was well-maintained. She had delicate skin and refined features. She looked more like she was in her early thirties and carried an air of elegance. She was typical of a wealthy noble lady.
"Olivia, who told you to come back? How dare you let this bastard hurt my son! Do you have a problem with us? I knew it. You still hate me after all these years. You had this bastard hurt my son as soon as you returned. You've gone too far!" The middle-aged woman began shouting at Olivia. She was quite fierce and domineering. "Apologize to Chad right now!"
Frightened, Olivia clung to Jonathan's arm and murmured, "Dad... Mom..."
"Don't call me Mom. I'm not your mother. If you were my daughter, I would have had you beaten to death. Your mother is long dead!" Olivia's stepmother, Sally Mitchell Harrison, spat out coldly with killing intent in her eyes.
Olivia's father, Jagger Harrison, interjected, "Olivia, who let you come back? And who is he? He hurt Chad! Have you got a problem with me?" He then looked Jonathan up and down with disdain.
"Dad, he's..." Olivia hesitated to explain.
Jonathan interjected firmly, "I am Jonathan Parker, Olivia's husband!"
Hearing this, Olivia's heart pounded. Tears of surprise welled up as she looked at Jonathan's resolute face.
'He just said he is my husband...'
