Samuel stormed in with another squad of bodyguards. He glared at Jonathan and the fallen guards around him. His face turned livid with rage. "Jonathan, what do you think you're doing? This is the Harrison family, not the Parker family. You've gone too far!"
Jonathan sneered. "Cut the crap. Samuel, why did you dismiss Olivia after her proposal was approved?"
Samuel snorted. "This is the Harrison family's business, and it's my decision. It's none of your concern. Remember, the Parker family is long gone. You're just an ex-soldier we took in. And now you're attacking people here. Declan was right. If no one stops you, you'll ruin the Harrison family. Guards, beat him up and break his limbs!"
Jonathan shook his head. He had thoughts of revenge before, but recently, he had been trying to help. "Then there's nothing more to say."
He prepared to strike first. He was never one to wait for an attack.
But suddenly, Olivia rushed in and blocked him. Tears streamed down her face. "Jonathan, don't! I don't care about the project anymore. I don't want you to get hurt. Please don't fight Grandpa."
She then turned to Samuel and begged, "Grandpa, I don't need the partnership. Please forgive Jonathan. Please don't throw us out. We just got back to the Harrison family."
"Heh!" Samuel sneered.
"Olivia, get out of my way, or I'll kick you out too."
He glared at the bodyguards, shouting, "What are you all waiting for? Attack him!"
At his command, a dozen bodyguards lunged at Jonathan.
But then, a cold, authoritative voice rang out.
"Don't you dare touch Mr. Parker!"
Everyone turned to see a squad of armed soldiers march in. They were led by none other than the second lieutenant who had delivered the invitation cards that night.
The soldiers quickly surrounded Samuel and the others. The second lieutenant's eyes flashed with fury as he demanded, "What do you think you're doing?"
Samuel and the others started trembling. 'They were sent by Colonel Wellington that night. What are they doing here now?'
"Sir, what brings you here?" Samuel's stern face melted into a sycophantic smile. "Why don't you wait in the reception hall while I handle this family matter?"
"Are you trying to throw Mr. and Mrs. Parker out? How dare you!" The second lieutenant growled. At his signal, the soldiers aimed their guns at the Harrison family.
Samuel and his family were scared stiff and started trembling violently.
"Is there some misunderstanding? Please don't be hasty," Samuel pleaded fearfully. He had never experienced anything like this before.
The second lieutenant sneered, "Samuel, let me make this clear. There's no misunderstanding. I've received orders: anyone who hurts Mr. Parker is challenging the Yonderville military. Did you forget what I said? Mr. Parker is friends with Colonel Wellington. Are you doing this to offend Colonel Wellington?"
Samuel turned pale instantly. Even the powerful Roberts family wouldn't dare oppose the military. "You've misunderstood. I... I was just..."
Samuel tried to explain, but the second lieutenant waved for a soldier to bring forward a document. "Mrs. Parker, this is your contract with the Apex Group. I don't know what's happening within the Harrison family, but I must warn everyone: this contract is between you and the Apex Group. No one else can sign it. Otherwise, it would be a fraud against the Apex Group, and as a subordinate of Colonel Wellington, I won't allow that."
Boom!
The second lieutenant's words made it clear that only Olivia could handle the partnership with the Apex Group. Samuel's face darkened, and Sophia and her parents turned ashen.
"Sir, doesn't the Apex Group check the qualifications of their partners? Olivia knows nothing! How could she be given this contract? I protest!" Sophia couldn't bear the thought of losing the partnership she had just secured. She let her frustration and disbelief explode.
Declan quickly tried to calm her. "Sophia, are you crazy? Apologize now!"
But the second lieutenant raised his hand to silence Declan. He stared at Sophia coldly. "You protest?"
"Yes, I protest!" Sophia was desperate. She had sacrificed too much for this project and couldn't accept this outcome.
Slap!
The second lieutenant slapped Sophia hard across the face and shouted, "And now?"
Sophia held her cheek and retreated in fear. She no longer dared to meet the second lieutenant's eyes.
The second lieutenant then turned to Jonathan. "Mr. Parker, Colonel Wellington has arranged this special treatment for veterans. If you encounter any trouble in the future, you can come to me."
He pulled out a small box and opened it in front of the Harrison family. Inside was a shining medal.
It was a Medal of Honor.
"The Yonderville military has awarded you this Medal of Honor," the second lieutenant said and handed the box to Jonathan with great respect.
