XXXIX: More Mess

1007 Words
The vampire felt the first shot from her and turned to see her, smiled to tell her that that weapon would not work on him, but she shot once more. The vampire began to feel his body deteriorate, and looking at her, he asked in disbelief, “What the f**k is that?” Eleanor, exhausted and hurt, raised the gun again and said, “This, this is a hunter’s gun!” The vampire tried hard to move forward, but the shots hit him several times. He did not stop. On the contrary, he advanced with more speed to reach Eleanor, who continued to fire non-stop, and when he was about to reach her, a huge wooden stake was embedded in his heart. He looked up to see the girl, and when the illusion dissipated, she was behind a stake pointed at him. It was the same that stabbed him at the beginning of the fight, and she breathed heavily as the vampire’s body disintegrated, hard and frustrated at his defeat. The vampire used all his remaining strength to hit Eleanor. She tried to block the hit, but it still hurt her. His body disintegrated but Eleanor, on the ground exhausted she saw him disappear. At that moment, she felt the rain stop, and in the sky, the sun began to rise. That was the only security Eleanor needed to lose consciousness right where she was. The battle of the huge wolves intensified, and behind her, Edith could feel the power with which they both fought. As she advanced following Joshua, she thought of the enormous amount of pain and anger that Joshua always carried without telling anyone. It was impossible for her to know because Joshua’s sorrow or her anger was so enormous, and what could she do to help him? As she walked, the river under her feet was getting colder and colder. Joshua, in front of her, said, “Something is not right! The water is very cold!” She had it too, but she didn’t know what it meant. The Joshua in front of her asked, “Another wolf?” But in front of them, there was nothing, the battle of the mastodons sounded in the distance, but in the vicinity, nothing was presented, suddenly advancing a little more, they noticed how the water in which they were walking solidified as they approached a pedestal in the middle of the reddish lake. The pedestal was high, and there seemed to be a person tied to it. While Edith and Joshua calmly climbed up, they could see more and more the water on the ground froze, and without understanding why they approached the pedestal. On the pedestal, a body tied with the same face as Joshua was dying, from his severed arm, an enormous amount of blood detached, and it took little for Edith to notice that all that blood was the one that filled the huge pool through which they had walked, at that moment they both understood that they had found Joshua’s center. Edith saw him, dying and dying, and slowly approaching her, he put his hands on her face. Joshua, who could barely keep his eyes open, saw her, and in that instant, the river that minutes ago was frozen began to heat up. “Edith, is it you?” Edith nodded. Joshua couldn’t seem to see her quality when the girl said, “I came to help you!” Joshua smiled when a firm white wolf approached him. Once close, he began to lick the wound. Edith realized that it was her partner and said carefully, “You must eat it….” Joshua, chained, looked at the submissive wolf, and opening his mouth with a great effort, bit him. This immediately became essence, and entering the body of the captured Joshua gave him a little more life, revitalizing his image and regenerating that arm that did not stop bleeding. Joshua forcefully did what he could to get up, and looking in the direction of the distant battle, he said, “This whole place is a mess!” Edith, who couldn’t stop seeing him, asked, “Are you OK? Now, are you more? “ Joshua smiled and, raising his hand, touched the girl’s face, she smiled when she saw him, and he said he approached her. “Things in this place are very ugly, and everything is so destroyed that I do not know if it can return to normal. The best thing for you at this moment may be that you leave.” Edith looked at him, and rolling her eyes, she took Joshua’s hands and said, “You can’t tell me what to do, Joshua! I decided to enter here, and I decided to stay... Do you want to protect me? Return that world to normal.” Joshua saw her, and with some resignation, he nodded. He knew that she would not leave, but he had to try anyway. The things that were coming were complicated, and it would undoubtedly be difficult to come out well. Joshua looked around him. His whole mind was shattered, and in the distance, he could see a huge black and a red Wolf fighting non-stop. The black wolf was beginning to prevail, and it hurt the red wolf hard. Their roars no longer vibrated with such strength, and the black wolf intensified the power of its attacks. It bit mercilessly and advanced without stopping to eliminate the red wolf, its jaws were opened to the maximum that they could, and the red wolf refused to give up. He bit down hard on the black wolf’s paw. But this was useless. The black wolf opened its jaws and forcefully bit the huge red wolf’s neck, turning it into the essence and absorbing it completely. Joshua was looking at him carefully. The black wolf, who was already huge, grew even more in size. Joshua took a deep breath and said, “I always knew that at some point, I would have to face my sadness….”
