LXXIII: The Vice Commander

Joshua smiled and touched his chest, trying to think what he could do, when Erika opened her eyes after a few minutes, he said, “Well, clearly, there is no one around. It’s just them, but no idea how they will be prepared.”

Joshua saw them and, smiling, said, “I’ll take care of it, and you cover me.”

She saw him, and in that instant, she saw the sword that he was holding. With some curiosity, she pointed to it, and Joshua, smiling, handed it to her.

Calmly, he said, “You can cut away with this, and it is very useful. One of the gifts from our friends.”

She smiled, and Joshua calmly took the spear and threw it at the three hunters with full power.

The spear flew at full speed and just passed a certain distance, and it was suspended in the air.

The hunters were upset, and when they saw the spear flying trying to find which direction the attack was coming from, but they did not move from that place.

Joshua looked at the spear raised in the air and thought about what was happening.

Erika was about to shoot an arrow, but Joshua, stopping her, said, “I don’t think the result would be different. I will go out to fight. You unravel the trick and help me.”

She saw him, her brother, had the behavior of a typical Alpha, a leader who took the risk for him to protect his family.

Seeing him gave her pleasure, and nodding, she let him appear. Joshua stepped out of the bushes as he walked toward the hunters.

They looked at him and muttered something to each other as Joshua walked calmly and said, “That is a very good trick... you must be happy.”

The men within the strange area were still smiling and muttering when Joshua calmly questioned, “Maybe if I attack myself, will that trick save you?”

They were not responding to Joshua’s words when he said, “Whatever.”

Pulling the spear with the rune that Seraphim had placed on it back to him, Joshua calmly held it and, smiling, said, “So, it does work inside.”

With that in mind, he smiled and lunged towards the hunters, and they were still muttering as Joshua, running at full speed, threw himself at them to hurt them with the spear.

The strange barrier that was around them held him in the air when Joshua said, “This won’t work, guys!”

Making his spear stretch, it buried itself in the ground, and he, using the power to draw the spear, was pulled right next to one of the hunters who was still not moving and murmuring with the others.

He suddenly got up and threw a strong blow with its claw, but when it hit the hunter, it went through him like a disembodied image.

Joshua looked at the place and, taking the spear from him, tried to touch the car, but this was also an illusion.

He calmly moved around the place and asked, “What the hell is this?”

Outside the field, a man was looking at him. He walked calmly, and his body was in perfect condition.

The effects of the potion did not seem to affect him when he said, “It’s interesting to see how a specimen like you fell into that trap... it’s an elaborate trap, and it takes a lot of work to do, but it worked perfectly.”

Joshua saw it and calmly asked, “Do you want to tell me what’s going on?”

The smiling man said, “Yes, of course! What about my manners… I'm Rigoberto Renato Rairi! I am the vice commander of the witch hunters and magical creatures, and I am in charge of this operation… you, my friend, have been trapped to be transferred to our main base.”

Joshua looked at him with anger, and without understanding what was happening, he said, “What the f**k are you saying!?”

He, smiling, said, “You do not understand, how silly of me. To say my name and my position does not clarify situations... you see, I am the leader of division six of hunters. We are many, and we have to be to face that enormous amount of magical creatures that have been appearing for a long time.”

Joshua took the spear and fiercely tried to throw it. It crossed the strange dimension and fell powerlessly at the feet of the smiling hunter.

The man had a black suit and small glasses even though the night was falling, and he calmly said, “I know this is confusing, but let me explain clearly. I am the vice leader of the hunters of this division. We, the vice leaders, take care of the small divisions while the founders do the rest… Yes, I know it is an annoying job. But it’s worth it, I assure you!”

Joshua did not want to listen anymore and threw himself hard on the barrier. At that moment, he tried to cross it, but he could not move out of it.

The hunter shaking his head, said, “Calm down, calm down. Listen, you can’t get out if you don’t leave someone alive inside. It’s a simple rule, and it works to capture almost any creature.”

Joshua looked at him, terrified, and, seeing the hunter, said, “What the f**k, are you crazy? Let me out right now!”

He shook his head and said, “Of course not!”

At that moment, another layer of the barrier fell, and he, completely stunned, said, “The witches are collapsing. What a shame, we will have to abort the mission... can you believe that we have not finished with any witch?”

Joshua looked in all directions and, surrendering to his instincts, and transformed into a huge wolf. He tried to get out of that place with all his might, but it was impossible. Joshua was pushing hard, and nothing worked. His power wasn’t enough to get him out of that place.
