XXXVI: Personalities

Yes his occasional teasing was still there, but something was not right, and but Edith could not point it out. Joshua nodded and said, with a grin, “Well, not all of me, the rest of my mind has to be wandering somewhere, but I am a part of myself, at least big enough to speak.” Edith looked at him, completely perplexed. She did not understand in the least what was happening. She was still looking at him with confusion, even after a while. Joshua stared at her as if he was dazed. “What’s wrong? Are you in pain?” Edith asked when she noticed his dazedness. He shook his head before answering, while blatantly staring at her with heated eyes, “No. You just look beautiful when you don’t understand.” Edith’s eyes widened. Her face heated up.  His compliment was out of nowhere. “Don’t get distracted,” Edith said, averting her gaze. Joshua chuckled when he saw her awkwardness. He said, “Okay, let me explain since you are still confused, beautiful.” He grinned before continuing, “You see, my mind was shattered, many fragments of my mind flew in all directions, and they all manifested in the form of Wolves. Each wolf represents an aspect of my mind. When I ate Passion, I could remember how much I like and want you.” Edith stiffened when she heard that. She tried to remain calm as she looked at him and asked, “Did you eat Passion?” Joshua nodded and, with a laughing voice, said, “And also optimism, which would indicate why I’m so calm.” Edith looked at him, and she remembered the red wolves that disappeared when he bit them. The essence got inside the body of the white wolf, which would indicate that his union is this result. At that moment, Edith began to understand what was happening and looking at Joshua, and she asked, “Does this mean that each wolf in this place represents an aspect of your personality?” Joshua nodded and replied cheekily, “Great, isn’t it? We just have to find them all, and I will devour them.” Edith looked at him with some apprehension. Joshua was something different from how he always was, even though he looked the same. Trying to make sense of what was happening, she looked directly at Joshua and asked, “Who were you originally?” Joshua looked at her and calmly showed his fangs turning back into the white wolf, ready to fight. Edith turned her face to see a blue wolf with thick fur walking towards them. She did not understand what was happening when the blue wolf jumped to attack them and was greeted in the air by the white wolf. He fought fiercely, but the blue wolf was incredibly strong. Edith was watching what was happening. She thought that the white wolf could lose, and without knowing if it was the right decision. She raised her hands and said, “Prohibere!” The blue wolf stopped instantly, and that opportunity was taken by the white wolf to pounce on him and tear his throat. At that moment, the blue wolf let out a howl, and its essence was ingested by the white wolf that grew in size just before returning to transform into Joshua. He looked at her and, with a smile, said, “Thanks for the help!” Her hubbub was mollified as Edith slowly approached him, and he stared into the void with some apprehension. As she approached, Edith asked, “What did that blue wolf be?” “It was reasonable! Maybe I should have let him win….” Joshua answered with a frown while looking at Edith. Edith looking at him fascinated, said, “That may be the reason he was speaking through you. Don’t worry! Everything will be fine!” Joshua looked at her with a slightly shyer and less uncomfortable smile. He then sat on a stone before he said, “Look like a rob some of my optimism into you.” He hummed thoughtfully before continuing, “As I see it, I have several aspects of my personality, but none of these wolves have found the center.” Edith looked at him confused and questioned, “What are you talking about?” Joshua was looking at the river of blood as he answered, “The center is the cornerstone of Joshua’s personality. In other words, it is his main attribute. It is impossible for us to know what it is, but whoever eats it will take control of Joshua.” Edith looked at him and confusedly said, “Wait for a second! Isn’t it more logical that the center devoured them all?” Joshua paused for a moment. He then nodded in distress before he said, “Sure, yes, but that was beside me. I doubt that there are many other wolves that let themselves be devoured by him, especially―” His words were interrupted as the floor shook again. Joshua quickly took Edith to hide. The huge black wolf was walking again, passing by the place where they were looking for a way to find the rest of the wolves and devour them. Hidden Joshua and Edith watched as a Red wolf much more intense than the first ones they had already seen appeared. It was a huge wolf, almost as big as the black one, and when it saw it, it growled in its direction. Edith was seeing what was coming. She said, “They are huge. Who are they?” Joshua was watching the fight with a complicated expression. He was also surprised by the colossal size of both creatures, said, “One of them is sorrow. That’s the black one. It’s huge because I don’t have much luck lately in life... and red is wrath.” Edith watched as both wolves pounced on each other, their collision was monumental, and the destruction they generated with each impact destroyed the surroundings. Edith watched them bite and use her claws to injure themselves severely.
