XXXVII: Needing Help

1031 Words
When she looked at Joshua, she asked, “Should we intervene?” Joshua smiled and replied, “If they devour, my common sense and optimism will be lost in that sea of sorrow and wrath. If they devour you, your mind will be diluted within us… So maybe no.” Edith looked at him with some annoyance, which was evident when she said, “I mean, should I make one of them win?” Joshua stiffened. He gave her a helpless look before shaking his. He got up and replied, “Does it matter? Let Wrath or Sorrow win. Either of the two results will be my undoing….” With some resignation, Joshua began to walk in the opposite direction. The two massive wolves did not stop and attacked each other with such force that as they wallowed, they created showers of debris that fell everywhere. The black wolf was bigger than the red one, but this red one was more fierce and reckless. They attacked each other without quarter, and without a doubt, soon only one would remain. At the same time, those two titans fought against each other. “What should we do then?” Edith asked while looking at Joshua expectantly. He thought for a moment before releasing a heavy sigh and replied, “If you ask me, we should get away from those wolves and look for the center. If we find him, we can help him and try to restore this situation.” Edith nodded in agreement, as that sounds logical and a strength-saving move. “Do you think the center could defeat those two beasts?” She asked. But Joshua lowering his head, replied, “He hasn’t beaten them so far... So let’s be optimistic?” With those words, they began to run down the slopes of Joshua’s mind in search of the center. *** On the outside, Seraphim approached the main chamber. Several vampires had come out to hunt her down, but she was ready to face the old one, the leader of that nest. She knew it would not be an easy battle when suddenly, in her mind, Eleanor’s voice sounded, “Seraphim, something is not right!” Seraphim, completely taken aback, and hurriedly asked, “What are you talking about, Eleanor?” The witch on the outskirts concentrated with all the power she had and said, “Joshua’s mind is a mess, and Edith’s mind is inside him. I feel like they could both end up destroyed like that!” Seraphim took a deep breath dedicating a glance towards the corridor where she came from, she hoped Edith was okay, but she didn’t know how she could help. “Is there anything we can do to help?” She asked with unmasked concern. Eleanor, scared, nodded while she, with some uncertainty, said, “There is something! We can send something from abroad to help him, but can you think of something? “ Seraphim thought for a second. She suddenly smiled, an idea formulating in her mind that it might as well help Joshua to get ahead. She took a deep breath, and then she sat down to better communicate with Eleanor. “Look, El! You make the connection, and I will send something that they can use. I hope that is enough to get them out of that problem,” Seraphim said with a hopeful tone.   They both breathed deeply, synchronizing their thoughts. Eleanor explored Joshua’s disturbed mind and, upon locating Edith, sent the image to the mind of Seraphim, who calmly conjured her idea, something to help the werewolf. When she was about to give it to him, the connection was abruptly lost, and Seraphim sending the help, could not know if the spell worked, getting up, she tried to contact Eleanor, but she did not answer. “Eleanor! Are you okay? What was that? Eleanor, what’s up? “ But the witch did not give any answer, three paths opened in front of Seraphim, and no decisions were simple. Thought with concern, she hoped that Eleanor Edith and Joshua were well. The hunt for the vampire nest was getting more and more dangerous. Outside the mine, Eleanor was trying to maintain contact with her friends when a restless mind intervened in her thoughts. She looked up and saw a Vampire descending with force over her. She moved from the roof of the van to evade the attack, and when she landed on the ground, she solidly fell down hard, hitting her lip with the ground and dropping a few drops of blood. When she got up, she separated a little from the truck and looking over her she saw a man completely covered by a black jacket looking at her with interest. “I didn’t think you were going to move so fast.” She looked at the sky, and the clouds hid the sun as if a storm was about to break loose. Over the truck, the vampire was also watching it and smiling. He said, “You are f*****g done! Bad luck, girl! I decided to wait for my chance, and now I have it!” Terrified, Eleanor walked slowly back to get away from her pursuer. She was not a combat witch, and facing a bloodthirsty vampire would undoubtedly be a challenge for her. She tried to contact Seraphim, but every time she concentrated, the thought of the vampire reached her, and he pounced hard to attack her. The vampire’s speed was clearly superior, but she could anticipate his movements getting out of the way, but the truth was that everything was a consequence of luck rather than skill. Eleanor began to feel a deep panic when she, without being able to control herself, decided to run to the ruins of the mine behind her. The vampire saw her futile attempt to escape and, with a smile. He shook his head, and he said, “I was hoping you’d put up a little more resistance, girl!” And with speed jump, while he tried to shorten the space with Eleanor but this when he was about to fall over her she turned, and smiling said, “Mirage!”
