The battle was over. Edith let out a frustrated sigh to see the two remaining wolves looked at her smilingly before departing to their side of her forest, leaving as always a place full of death and destruction.
She was in charge of cleaning up that mess. As always, that caused her an enormous amount of laziness, but that was her job. With her accords with death, it was not convenient for her to disobey her part of that negotiation.
Hurry up with the shitty job! Edith thought as she calmly descended from her comfortable position to dispose of the dead and keep the place free from slaughter was only a fraction of her responsibilities.
It was also the part that she disliked the most because these ferocious creatures did not contemplate the path of destruction they left behind. If they just kill and not cause some of her plants to be destroyed too, won’t that save her energy to grow them later?
Edith was still complaining when she entered the stable of her house and took out her cart. It was her faithful companion and a mule that was in charge of most of the load. It was an old mule but still as strong as ever. She was proud of this mule, and since it was still useful, Edith was able to push back her desire to cook it just for fun.
Nevertheless, both began to walk to the grove where the remains of that fierce battle were found. She looked at how the blood stained the floor and wished this part of her work would be over.
But that would not be possible.
I wish I had your strength! Edith thought when she looked at the first corpse at her feet. The werewolf was still looking at the sky.
At the same time, his severed arm bled away from his body, he was a gloomy figure, and taking it caused him only a little repulsion, but at that moment, she heard a groan.
Her gaze frantically searched for the origin of that lament, and when she saw it, she looked at how the black wolf that they called Joshua was kneeling on the ground. He spits blood on his hands when she saw him she realized that he was still alive.
“This is not possible,” she muttered with confusion as she slowly approached the dying body of the werewolf.
Looking at her, he tried to say something, but it was impossible. He got up to the full height and stretching out his bloody hand. He tried to touch Edith only to fall face down to the ground.
"Holy moonie!" Edith said as she stared at him, completely surprised and baffled.
The wound on his neck was still bleeding deeply, which was strange to her as she had always been in her understanding that werewolves possessed tremendous healing powers. But this did not seem the case.
Her mind wandered away for several seconds. She was confused as she looked at Joshua's bleeding figure, and she wondered if she should help him.
This is not part of your job! Let him die!
She repeated in her mind over and over again, but this was not part of her nature. But that was not in her heart. Also, a part of her was completely against the idea of letting the pathetic werewolf die. It was as if she would greatly regret it.
With just a few heartbeats, Edith has decided on what to do. She released a heavy sigh before she approached him.
His bloodied body showing a defined muscled figure, and when she touched his skin to try to turn it, she felt the hardness of that touch.
Wow, like a rock! Edith thought, trying to sweep that futile thought from her mind while using all her strength. Not to mention the werewolf was still completely naked. She wanted to cover him with something but, it would not really matter.
She tried to turn his enormous body. Edith used all her strength while turning Joshua's body until she was facing him.
She could see how the wound on his abdomen continued to bleed. Edith immediately resisted the urge to look somewhere lower since it was so shameless of her to take advantage of a wounded being.
“How are you still alive?” Edith asked herself loudly after realizing how severe his condition was. It was even more than what she had initially thought.
Edith immediately ran for her mule to try to carry that wretched creature to her home.
Once the cart was in position, she did everything possible to lift his body to ride it, but it was impossible.
The werewolf was gigantic, and for her, it was completely a journey of absolute strength to ride it on the cart. She tried to think of solutions, but it was not within their means.
She calmly approached his ear, and near him, she coldly whispered,
“Movere Potentian tuam.”
Joshua opened his eyes, and involuntarily his body contorted with force until his figure transformed into a black wolf.
Seeing him, she smiled but even, so the wolf was much bigger than she expected. She did not know if moving him in his full wolf form would be easier than moving him as a man, but she was willing to try.
She managed with an inhuman effort to mount the bloody body of the black wolf on the cart only to whisper once more in his ear, “Naturam Redire.”
Joshua came around again, and his body transformed into the battered man. Once again, she smiled at the small victory walking in front of the cart and talking to the mule. She said, “Good, Elsa! Go!”
And with those words, she led him to her house.
The night was cold like few others. Edith did everything she could to take that man to her room, and once there, she looked at him.
His strong and virile body had bruises and cuts on all sides as a result of the infernal battle. He had a huge bite on his neck, and the deepest wound was the stab he received in the abdomen. She did not understand why his wounds did not heal but not will allow this man to die.
Hold on a bit! I will try to help you, who knows why! She thought while seeing his multiple wounds wondered if she would be able to heal him.
It was impressive that only he had been able to kill three werewolves in such an unjust match. This and even more impressive is that despite his injuries, he was still alive.
If she had not witnessed this with her own eyes, the possibility of curing him would be seen as little less than a miracle.
Still, the resilience of that man gave her hope that his salvation was not impossible, determined without knowing why she sought her medicines and preparing, she said more to herself than to anyone else.
“Dude, this is going to hurt! But I will do it anyway!” And with those words, she set out to heal all the wounds of the dying werewolf.
