Edith put both hands on them and said eerily, “Imperium Summa.”
And slowly but surely, the nails began to ascend from Joshua’s hands into Edith’s hands, who invoked them. Joshua made an enormous effort not to cry out in pain, and after a few seconds, the nails came out of place.
They both looked at each other, and their agitated breathing matched. Joshua seemed to want to kiss her. Still, she looked away instantly and focused on helping him to stand. Immediately after that, they began to flee.
As they move forwards, Edith chanted softly. Her murmurs were like music to Joshua’s ears that helped him feel better gradually. Joshua was fascinated. He felt so blessed to have a very capable mate. He could not help but glanced at her a lot as they walked.
She must have noticed him being distracted as Edith frowned and then gave him a quick warning look. So Joshua his gaze focused back to the way. Nevertheless, he took advantage of their closeness and made sure that he was holding her close as he sniffed on her scent.
Slowly, as they were supported by the shadow of darkness, they gradually grew stronger, they left the prison.
They were walking, trying to get away from that place, and Joshua’s wounds slowly healed. Suddenly the alarm blared, and Edith felt the wolves go into a rage because of Joshua’s escape.
Edith wanted to advance with more force, but her body barely remained standing. And even if they managed to get to her house, there was no way they would not know that she saved him.
At that moment, Joshua hugged her abdomen and, using incredible force, and jumped as high as he could, covering a huge amount of ground and landing with difficulty in the middle of the forest.
His wounds healed quickly, but he seemed far from his full form, and at that moment, a huge man appeared behind him.
“Give me the traitor!” He said in a completely fierce voice.
Joshua got up and faced him, his wounds were still bleeding, and his face seemed to be in pain, but when he saw him, he said expressionlessly, “Jack, how are you? If you really think I’m a traitor, attack me!”
The man was about to attack, but something like a reflection of fear appeared on his face. The battered black wolf was a terrible threat to him, and that in Edith’s mind seemed incredible.
Stop thinking nonsense, woman! We are in danger! Edith told herself when Jack yelled loudly to alert the pack.
Many wolves fell surrounding the couple, and Jerald, the evilest of all, appeared in front of him. He looked at them both and, smiling with a frightening calm, he said, “Second time you get in my way, witch, you think that because I can’t kill you? That I can’t make your life miserable?”
Edith heard those words, and her heart skipped a beat. She narrowed her eyes at him, before she coldly said sarcastically, “You are always free to try, wolf. Since you keep failing, loser.”
Jerald growled when he heard that. He was clenching his teeth for a moment before he laughed. “It doesn’t matter. You can say whatever you want! Don’t worry we won’t delay the situation any longer! You can’t stop us anyway, so we will kill him now!”
Just as he said that Jerald took out a silver dagger and preparing to attack, Joshua prepared to fight with everyone, but it was logical that he would die in such a terrible situation.
Edith thought that she did not want to let him die, and an idea appeared in her mind. She placed a hand on Jack’s torso and screamed, “Vita Mortead Vitam Vinculum!”
Edith’s eyes turned black as the night itself. On Joshua’s chest where his heart was, a red magic circle appeared. Immediately everyone stopped, and looked at the two in confusion.
“Now he has a death stamp! Whoever kills him will share his fate! So please give it a try! Please kill him!” She said, mocking.
All the wolves looked puzzled, and Joshua touched the mark on his chest. All the wolves started backing away when Jerald laughed before he said, “Do you think that will save his life? Jack, murder him!”
Edith heard pounded, but she remained calm when looking at them. She could not let the wolves know that she was currently as weak as the magic in Joshua’s chest had took a long of her strength.
She held her breath, but nothing happened. Jack did not attack.
Jerald looked at Jack with a lot of anger and said, “Attack him! I order it for you!” But Jack did not move then, looking at another wolf, pointed at him and said the same thing, “You! Finish him!”
But nobody paid any attention to him, all the wolves fell back, and Jerald screamed in frustration. “I am Jerald of the royal family, son of the new alpha, and I order a wolf in this pack to sacrifice his life and assassinate the traitor!”
But none of them moved a muscle. At that moment, Joshua laughed out loud and looked at Jerald with disdain.
“Look, it seems that you and your filthy father are not real alphas! No member of the pack will give his life for your whim” Joshua said in the most derisive tone, before he advanced towards him and, with anger, said, “Why don’t you take my life yourself? You stinking rodent! I’m here. Do it for your father!”
But in fear, Jerald backed away, looked at everyone, and without saying a word left.
The other wolves did the same. Joshua smilingly looked at Edith, who was looking at him tenderly, but at that moment, she fainted.
When she woke up, she was in her bed, wrapped up and looking at Joshua, who was watching her.
“This time, you did pick me up off the ground,” Edith said as Joshua’s smile opened the door to an unknown future. They both took hands, and without being able to understand the connection, they felt they decided to explore it together.

The days passed without any news. Edith’s work continued. For her, everything was better because she had company and help. Joshua was with her. They thought in the following days that Joshua would be attacked by his pack, but that did not happen. Edith had given them the impression that all the wolves had decided to abandon their revenge.
Perhaps… Edith really hope that it was the case.
Joshua, however, sometimes thought about his father and how he could honor his memory. As he spent his days with Edith, all the things that covered his mind clumped together until he looked at her. Just one look at her was enough to calm his mind, and the problems did not seem as big as they presented themselves. It was nice to just be with her. Even nicer if they could finish the mating bond soon…
