XCV: Margaret

In the house on the coast, Margaret would sit in the armchair in front of the television. It was turned off, she could not see anything in any way, and while she watched television, she said, “So that man said there are several people who want to kill me.”

In the kitchen, preparing dinner, was Clint. He calmly cooked while he said. “Yes! He said something, like that there are several people looking for you, and it has nothing to do with the Sky group!”

Margaret looked straight ahead, and her intuition kept pointing to her sister. She then calmly said, “Well, my sister is looking for me... You said that this guy was lying, can’t it be a lie so that we lower our guard and don’t let my sister find me.”

Clint looked up, and while he thought he was still cutting the vegetables, he calmly put the knife down and said, “Yes, but I don’t understand the reason, he doesn’t know that the Sky group is looking for you, and the hunters and the Sky group are enemies. Why invent something like that? If you see your sister, you will recognize her instantly, and with your magic, you can contact her. His lie would not be supported. He does not know that the Sky group took your eyes off you and the magic. How could he have planned this?”

Margaret got up and walked to the counter that divided the kitchen from the hall, and with her eyes closed, she said, “Do you think there is actually someone who wants to kill me?”

Clint shook his head and Margaret touching the countertop with her fingertips generated a slingshot capable of going all over the place, seeing Clint’s movement shaking his head as if it were a sonar she said, “You should know that I appreciate everything you do… you don’t have to take care of me the way you do, and you don’t really get anything in return.”

Clint looked up and, smiling, said, “To be fair, you set me free first, and I thank you, now I can be myself.”

They both smiled, and Clint looking at her, said, “Can you contact your sister now.”

She shook her head when she said, “No! Without my magic, my clothes are useless. I think that first of all, we should focus on finding my magic again, but how will we do that?“

Clint looked at the blue bracelet on Margaret’s wrist and said, “Mine could break it because I touched it, but I cannot touch yours. It is integrated into your skin, and if I touch it, I will break your bone.”

She nodded, and he saw it said, “The only option is to force blue to take it off or kill it.”

She smiled and took one of the vegetables that Clint said, “For me, kill him! I am a servant of death is always my first choice!”

Clint lowered his head. He hoped he could stop killing, but many times his life dragged him to that world again, when he was captive by Sky, the organization where the wizards who had stolen Margaret’s magic were was a murderous machine and also the healer of the group, he was quite appreciated, so much so that to prevent him from escaping, Sky’s leader decided that she could not let him leave and put an obedience spell on him.

The spell worked in a concrete way. He couldn’t disobey her, but it had to be renewed all the time in the same way. When Margaret found him, she broke the spell, and now he was by her side. He wasn’t going to let Sky keep Margaret’s abilities even if it meant having to kill any of them, but looking at his partner, and then he said, “There is something that is not good, and if I go by Sky, I will have to leave you alone if what the guy on the balcony said is true, then the murderer will do everything possible to attack you at that moment.”

Margaret thought for a second and calmly said. Let’s go with these senses that you gave me, and no one will be able to find me, and I’ll be fine!”

Clint was not so sure. The man who had warned them of the murderer had found that house easily, and with him, many others could see Margaret, he said, “Do you think the murderer is already in this city and has a clue to you?”

Margaret looked up at the Sky, not wondering too much what was going on. She shrugged her shoulders when she said, “I hope so, really!”

Clint, unable to believe what she was saying, saw her face to face when the young woman smiling said, “If the murderer is in town, he will soon come for me, then soon you will eliminate him, and we can get on with our lives... Simple!”

She had unhealthy security in Clint. Even without his powers, she didn’t think he needed her for anything they were going to do. Margaret had seen him in action, even against her, he was an incredible warrior, and even though his power was destined to heal, he kept surprising her by doing incredible things.

She had seen and faced thousands of wizards throughout her long life, but Clint was different, he had defeated her, and not only her, he had never lost a fight where he had been. Clint could not be defeated.

While they were talking around the house, several people moved. They all tried to sneak up on him when looking at the house from a distance. One of them called out, and the house was still about four feet away. A hundred meters, but getting closer could alert Clint.

The young skinhead man approached another and said, “I must be much closer for my power to activate! Twenty meters at least.”

He looked at the house and calmly said, “We don’t even know if they are there! Can we really trust that guy? He is a witch hunter!”

The shaved one lowered his head and, with some frustration, said, “We should do it, and the boss said that her information was good, so you have to go in!”

His partner, shaking her head, replied with a somewhat harsh tone, “I don’t know, Blue! Since that woman stole from Clint, the boss doesn’t think clearly!”

Blue, who listened to what he said, could not deny that there was truth in his words, but disobeying was not an option. He calmly looked at the rest of his companions and said, “If we sneak a little closer, you will surely notice, our best option is to break in from here!”

One of his companions approached and, with a nervous voice, said, “Don’t be the offended boss! But he’s just a guy! She has no powers or sight. Why do we take so many precautions?”

Blue saw it and, with some disbelief, said, “Because it’s Clint! You did not work with him, but I assure you that you have never seen someone like him!”

The man got up and saw the house when he said, “Give me a chance, boss, and I’ll finish him off!”

Blue and his partner saw it. They both shared a look, and with a heavy breath, Blue’s partner said, “Listen, it’s not that simple!”

But Blue raised her hand, looked at him, and said, “Why do you say that, Jimmy? Let him try if that’s what he wants!”

Jimmy looked at Blue, and he was staring at him. Jimmy nodding looked at the boy, and said, “Ok, Otto! This is your only chance, and you must go and kill both of them. If you do, you will get a substantial reward from the boss!”

Otto showed a huge smile and nodded, and he prepared himself, calmly began to sneak up on him, hiding between the houses and walls to get as close as he could. Jimmy looked at Blue and, in an incredulous voice, said, “You just sent that boy to die!”

Blue nodded and, looking ahead, said, “Your sacrifice of him will work. When Clint is killing him, we can get closer, and we can sneak up on him when he’s busy!”

Jimmy did not like that behavior, but Blue did those things all the time, shaking his head, he let his friend go, and everyone watched from a distance in the house while Clint cooked Margaret with his hearing increased heard Otto approach, she looked at Clint, and he calmly said, “I already know it! Do not worry.”

She, without flinching for a second, continued eating at the counter. Outside the house a few feet away, Otto watched Margaret and Clint share a meal. From the outside, he didn’t understand what was crazy about Clint. He hadn’t even noticed his presence, so he couldn’t be that good.

Raising both hands, he prepared to activate his power, intertwining his fingers made his arms begin to glow, and a strong sling of energy began to manifest in his palm, the ball that was formed was transparent, but the air pressure that could generate was huge, the more he concentrated, the bigger the ball grew and watching them create one the size of a basketball to say.

“With this, they both go to hell!”

And preparing his launch, he threw the ball of compressed air that would explode when it came into contact with them. The ball had to go through the glass, but that surface was not so strong to burst it. However, when it collided with the surface of the glass, the air ball exploded enormously.

The explosion was such that it pushed Otto back, and when he got up, he saw that the glass in that door was barely cracked. As he watched in amazement how the sliding door hadn’t given way, he was starting to feel slight dizziness when he heard a voice say, “Air? Blue send you first? He really doesn’t like you!”

Otto tried to move with speed, but when he turned, Clint put his hand on the boy’s mouth and knocked him unconscious.

“What did you do to him?” Margaret asked behind the cracked glass.

He then looked up and said, “I reduced the amount of oxygen that I sucked in. Go back inside, and there are still five of them left. I won’t be long!”

And with those words, Sky made the move of her Clint was ready to defeat them and regain Margaret’s powers again.
