XXXIV: Foreboding Feeling

1019 Words
His steps were slow as he approached Edith, who, raising her hands, said, “Joshua! Calm down, and you don’t want to do this. Wait a bit!” Joshua, without hearing what Edith was saying, leaped in her direction with force. The girl used the speed spell that Seraphim had put on her and moved from that place quickly. Placing her hand on the ground, she touched the sand, and with speed, she said, “Syrtim!” The sand began to rise to take the wolf, but this leaping at full speed reached the ceiling in a fraction of a second, and shooting at the girl, flew through the air in her direction. Edith opened her eyes in fear and using speed, and she moved from the place where the wolf landed only to see how it changed direction in seconds, ready to follow her. The young woman wanted to put more distance from her, but it was impossible, the wolf was over her, and just before he bit her, Edith said, “Repellit!” The wolf shot to the other side of the cave until he crashed into the wall, Edith exhausted watched as Joshua shook off the rubble and showed his teeth in her direction, she began to think about how to get him out of that situation that was complicated, but she could not stop she should save Joshua’s life. At that moment, the wolf had a seizure, and Joshua’s voice came out of it. “Rum! I can’t stop it!” The wolf yelled. Edith was completely surprised and could not move. Joshua, after a fraction of a second, advanced at full speed, placing his hand on the young woman’s chest and burying her in the sand. Edith was completely covered in sand when she placed her hand on Joshua’s forehead. She said, “Sharie Animo!” And at that moment, both of them, the wolf eyes and hers, glowed deep black as they both went into a trance. Edith would save Joshua’s mind no matter the cost. Edith woke up in strange water under a red moon, powerful that gave a bloody tint to an entire sky. The moon seemed to be very close to the earth as if it threatened to collide with the surface and devastate all life on it. Edith seemed puzzled, and when she got up, she felt her wet body standing on a strange lake that only reached her calves. In the distance, a forest rose up, and constantly the howls of wolves bathed the environment. She looked around her, and taking a deep breath, and she said, “Joshua’s mind!” It was clearly the werewolf’s subconscious, although all things seemed destroyed and shattered as if a terrible disaster had occurred. Huge fragments of destroyed buildings lay covered by the water as if the tide of that bloody river could rise at any moment and submerge everything that was in it in a terrible sea of sadness and despair. Edith felt the cold of loneliness, and inside Joshua’s mind, an immense sorrow reigned. It was a long time since she felt so helpless when a terrifying howl was heard behind her. She couldn’t do anything, but she knew that those sounds were the key for her to get out of that place. She began to walk decisively in the direction of the forest, and she knew that she had to find Joshua’s center and activate it to reduce her animal instincts and help him get back to normal, but the direction she had to take was a mystery. As she ran, she felt like a bloody beast was chasing her. She was trying to move forward with determination, but the water under her feet completely complicated her movement as a huge white and majestic wolf stood in front of her. His intensity was so deep that Edith couldn’t stop looking at him. The wolf bent all the muscles preparing to jump on the young woman. She raised her hand and thought of defending herself when she remembered that killing one of those creatures symbolized killing a part of Joshua’s mind. At that moment, she knew that her only option was run away from it. Breathing deeply, Edith began to run hard when the white wolf began to chase her, and she was following the path that a pile of debris was drawing and with the speed that she was able to reach, she advanced directly towards the forest in front of her. The wolf jumped from rubble to rubble trying to give her a hunt, but Edith did not stop moving, when suddenly she began to notice a strange pattern in the Ruins, those ruins symbolized clear memories of Joshua and being distracted for a second she felt how the wolf jumped from where he was until he fell over her. The wolf plunged her under the river of blood, and her jaws opened to such a dimension that he almost buried his teeth in the young woman’s neck. Just before its jaws closed, the wolf raised his face, and Edith, almost completely submerged, looked at him terrified as the wolf began to sniff her. Something in the scent of that young woman calmed him, and instead of biting her calmly, he licked her face and moved so the witch could get up. She sat on the ground felt the river right around her legs, and she was staring at the wolf who now saw her without the slightest hostile action. More howls were heard in the distance, and at the sound, the wolf turned his head with intensity alert that it could be approaching. Edith calmly got up and looking at the wolf. She asked, “I must assume you won’t attack me anymore, will you?” The wolf shook his face as if making a nasal sound and looked back at the girl. Edith giggled innocently and approaching the wolf. She touched his head carefully. The wolf felt her caress. It purrs as if it enjoyed her touches, but her ears perked up and roared suddenly.
