CXI: Hall of Altars

The hall of the altars was huge, circular and its walls were not worked, it was one of the rooms of the castle on the mountain that kept the rocky walls of the mountain. The floor was adorned with different circles that symbolized different altars for different gods.

The entire room was made up of a huge circle that was known as the anteroom and in the middle was a circle with a prayer seal where the altars of various gods were found. These stood like stone pillars in concave shapes that had almost five meters high. On each pillar, there was a carving of the god that corresponded to it, and together in the center of the huge room, they divided it in such a way that the center of that room gave the impression of being a small labyrinth.

The main gods stood at the edge of that central circle, while the rest had their predetermined places within the room. The altar of the death god was in the center of all the altars in the center of the central circle. Edith prayed there while on the edge of that circle. Everyone fought with each other.

She could hear the commotion, and Joshua’s voice gave her such pleasure to hear it that for almost a second, she lost her concentration, but preparing to perform her rite, she took her ceremonial dagger and stabbed her abdomen her mind was transported to the plane where her god ruled.

When Edith opened her eyes, what she saw was the same room where she was, so similar was it that at first, she thought that the ritual had not worked, but when she saw the stone columns of the other altars, she realized that they all had the carving of the death god and knew that he had made it through the plane.

As he advanced, he heard applause in the distance, and as he left the altars, he saw how on the edge of the circle of the anteroom immersed in the wall, a stone throne rose, in the seated with as an irritated face was the death god, who this time had the shape of a woman.

“Look how well you have done, my daughter! Edith froze, the goddess asked, but she clearly knew what was happening. Seeing her take a deep breath and shaking her head, she said, “I will not answer you what you already know!”

Death laughed and moved quickly, and her throne began to turn. It was as if the floor where Edith was was a roulette wheel, and in a fraction of seconds, they reached the place where the fight was taking place.

Everyone was there, but no one moved. Joshua had his spear in hand while Nate had the sword held. Edith watched as Seraphim and Eleonor stood strategically to protect her, and at that moment she then said with utmost seriousness, “Yes, I couldn’t carry out your decision, but don’t betray you… I’m here trying to finish off whoever opposes you, and it turns out that they can’t die. Death applauded, and everything darkened. Edith felt a powerful terror in her mind when death appeared behind her back.

She reached out and caressed her face, and she said, “I don’t like your tone, young lady!”

Edith felt her mind freeze. She got a hold of her, and when she was calm she said, “I’m sorry... I’m frustrated, I want to protect you, but if I can’t kill him, you leave me with no options!”

Death clapped again, and everything returned to normal. She appreciated again on the throne of her and calmly looking at Edith, she said, “The truth is I did not give you more information because I did not have more information. Everything you discovered was as surprising to me as it is to you!”

Edith took a deep breath and, looking at death, and said, “So there is nothing I can do?”

Death was silent, the whole place became darker, and Edith knew that death was offended. She, seeing the image of the fight, got up and calmly said, “The truth is that you alone will not be able to do anything... Death smiled, and seeing Edith, she said, “You are a troublesome daughter, but I can help ... I will give you a portal, you can only use it once, and only one person can enter through it. You must leave that place and go in search of your sisters.”

Edith’s eyes widened. She the looked up, her eyes were unmasked with surprise and confusion as she asked, “Only one person can use it? What will happen to my friends?”

Death rubbing her hands in anticipation, she said, “Of course, they will die! That Alpha is a witness to the moon, and this is something unusual. I think I have never tasted the death of a creature like that ... it will be interesting!”

Edith’s fury overflowed, and it caused her to forget who she was talking to. Stepping in front of her, she looked at death and said, “Interesting? These are my friends, and they have been helping to solve your disaster. How can you just let it die?”

She said the goddess was screaming with such force that she made Edith recoil. She calmly saw her, and joining the tips of her fingers in front of her face, she said, “I’m sorry to disappoint you, girl, but I can’t care less about the death of humans… you created that concept.

Before your existence, nothing died, but now I have so much fun that I can almost say that I will miss you when you disappear. Listen, that’s what I can do for you, take your portal and use it. If you want to stay and die with them is your decision, but if you do, keep in mind that your sisters will run the same fate as you. What three can do, two cannot do!”

With those words, death made a sign, and Edith quickly returned to her altar. Opening her eyes, she could hear the battle in the distance, but that did not cause her to have less fear, as it was possible that all those things happened.

Getting up, she looked at everyone concentrated on the image of that creature that manifested itself again after Joshua’s attack. She was far from finishing her journey, and without knowing what to do, Edith saw a ring that she did not have on her finger before.

Calmly she knew that it was the portal. She raised her hand with tears in her eyes. She had to protect her family when she heard Joshua’s voice say in the distance.

“You will not pass. I will not let you get to it under any circumstances!”

Edith felt Joshua’s love and, lowering her hand, she cried for her, the decision was not easy, but she would not abandon her friends. If there was a way to kill that subject, they would discover her in that precise place.

Coming out of the altars, Seraphim saw her and calmly said, “Do you already know how to kill him?”

Edith shook her head as her eyes filled with tears. They all saw her and the man getting up from her said, “It must be a pity that not even your almighty god can tell you the answer... I think humans trust the gods too much. They are not benevolent!”

Edith looked at him, and without being able to understand why she could get along with that idea, however, this man would end her without a doubt, and that could not allow it. Everyone was put on guard when he walked to the side of her said, “This is a complete waste of time, you will not be able to defeat me, you do not have the means to make me disappear, and I will kill you one by one until I get to the place I want, why not skip all the preambles and let me get where I want.”

Edith taking a step forward, said, “It’s fine! You can have me if you decide not to hurt my friends!”

The surprised man saw her smiling and nodding, she said, “That is a deal I can accept!”

Edith, nodding, took a step forward and the creature quickly transformed into a jaguar attacked Edith, leaping into the air to sink its jaws into Edith’s throat, but a spear pierced his jaw and forcefully slammed him against the floor to make him retreat.

Edith looked at Joshua in surprise, and when he was about to speak, Joshua said, “Who the hell do you think you are? You can’t say my sacrifice… There are a lot of people who got hurt to help you, and you can’t just give up. Everyone that this guy killed is of them. Are we just going to ignore them?”

Edith cried, and at that moment, the man getting up said, “Good! No deal!”

And with force, his body began to transform. The never-before-seen creature was about to attack.
