XV: Eli

Joshua did not understand what had happened, but the essences that he felt in the distance intensified mysteriously, and he felt all that incredible amount of aromas whipping his body with force. Thunderous sounds and an abrupt movement in all directions made him kneel down just to breathe calmly and try to collect his thoughts. The chaos was silent, and only Edith’s voice sounded in his head when, seeing her worried, she asked if he was alright. Her worried eyes were planted on Joshua’s, and when he saw her, he felt how the world slowly made sense. Approaching her, he kisses her. The kiss was sudden, and its taste made the world disappear around them. For a second, everything was darkness and silence. “Sorry to interrupt!” Someone yelled just as the kissing started turning even more. Edith jerked away from Joshua, looking in the direction of the door when she saw a woman dressed in leather pants and a white t-shirt looking at her with a smile, the girl had red hair with a braid at the back and a mocking smile. Edith, seeing her, got up and then said awkwardly, “Hello… Hello Eli! What are you doing here?” “The question is, what are you doing here?” Eli asked as he eyed Joshua from head to toe. She then added with a mischievous smile, “in… such a good company, I must add!” Joshua got up and looked at the girl curiously. “You’re a witch….” He commented. The smiling woman looked at him and said as she winked one of her eyes. “I am Eleanor Pettis! But everyone calls me Eli! You can do the same, no prob,” after saying that, the girl smiled brightly. She was looking at the boy as she approached, casually, offering a hand, “I’m a witch, you’re right.” And as Joshua said that he reached out to shake her hand, Edith saw the action and hurriedly raised her hand as she screamed. “No!” But it was late, Joshua had touched Eli, and now she was in a trance. In the forest within the barrier that separated both worlds, a man walked casually. He watched as the gap that he had opened disappeared. At that moment, he smiled at touched the barrier with a finger, and without saying anything, his eyes were covered in color black identical to Edith’s, and the gap opened again. At that moment, Jerald appeared behind him, asking hopefully, “So, can we go out?” “Yes! It is a gift of goodwill,” And with those words, the man let several werewolves leave that place. Eli’s trance ended, and she abruptly letting go of Joshua’s hand recoiled, her naturally happy eyes looking disturbed when seeing both of them. “Is someone trying to kill the servants of death?” She asked with unmasked concern. Edith looked at her with resignation as she nodded. Joshua, who was looking at her curiously he came over and demanded, “What did you do to me?” The girl smiled and looking at him, and then she said, “Sorry! I only read your memories!” Joshua nodded and looking at Edith, and she shrugged her shoulders. “It seems you are in quite a bit of trouble! Do you think that person who murdered your sister is going for you?” Eli asked. Edith nodded as she sat down at the table. She said, “Yes, the truth is that it is most likely.” When she said that, she felt a strange shudder and getting up on her way to the apartment window to look at the mountain. Eleanor approached her and asked with a frown, “Did you feel it?” Edith nodded with an uncomfortable expression on her face. Eleanor continued, “It has been like this for a month! I do not know what it is.” Joshua watched them both, they seemed concentrated in the distance, but he could not see or hear anything. His senses were still overwhelmed by the huge number of people and creatures in the city. It was difficult to smell or hear something beyond a short range. Their senses that were naturally very sharp, were now distracted by the overwhelming amount of information he was receiving every second. The city was a hectic place. “What is happening?” Joshua asked, trying to keep his composure. Edith, who was still looking out the window, replied gravely, “Large amounts of magic are sporadically being expelled.” Joshua looked at her, and she looking at Eleanor, asked, “What do you think it was?” Eleanor shook her head when she said, “I really don’t know! I wanted to investigate, but there are rumors that there is a hunter in the city. I am not very good at violence and things like that. So I didn’t get involved, but Josephine did.” Edith looked at her in surprise. She then said, “Josephine, she can help me with more than one question. She can know what kind of magic can be used with a servant of death!” Eleanor widened her eyes in surprise when she asked, “Do you think she knows it when even you don’t?” Edith nodded stubbornly. She seemed immersed in her own thought when Joshua asked, “How many witches are in this place?” Both witches smile knowingly. “That is a mystery, but don’t worry, Josephine is an acquaintance. She will not give us problems,” Edith assured, Eleanor sat on a chair and, looking at Edith, and then said while blinking her eyes, “If you see the hunter on the way to Josephine, could you take care of him? I don’t want to be looking over my shoulder every second!” Edith snorted. “Stop doing that, eye thing. You are not a puppy.” This made Eleanor pout, “Just take care of him, to lessen your boredom then.” “Well, I am not really bored this past few days,” Edith replied with a dry smile before adding, “If there is a hunter, Josephine has probably already taken care of him! But don’t worry!” After saying that, she looked at Joshua and looked at herself and said. “We have to change, and we have to mix in this place, Joshua!” He nodded, and she enters a room, took a bath, and then changed, calmly appeared after a few minutes again in the room, she had torn jeans and a red and black plaid shirt with a hood, looking at Joshua, who was dazed. “I’ve never seen you like that!” Joshua commented. She smiled and straightening her hair, and then she said, “We have to be practical this time!” Joshua nodded when Eleanor came back from the street, handing him a change of clothes. The boy went into the bathroom and changed to go out again after several minutes. He also had jeans and boots on his torso, a white t-shirt, and a black hooded sweater with the image of a howling wolf. Seeing it, he looks at Eleanor, who was smiling said, “It fits you!” Joshua smiled at the joke. “What’s the plan?” He then asked seriously. Edith stared at him and said, “We will go to one of those magical eruptions to see what it is. If the guy who is punching holes in my barrier is there, we will have found the answers.” Eleanor looked at them both and said, “I heard that Josephine would be in the church of the four corners on the edge of the city. Apparently, there is something there she was going to find out what was happening.”
