The destination was a resort area. Owens was driving in the lead, with seven or eight vehicles following behind him one after another.
After arriving at the hotel they had reserved, they found that Owens had actually booked a lodge in the resort area.
The inn was divided into three floors and had a large space. Owens led them to the front desk to check in and each received their own room card.
Lilith is on the third floor, in Room 303. Tony is in Room 301, with one room in between.
Tony glanced at Lilith's room card, made a tsking sound, and said, "Who among you is staying in Room 302 or 304? Change rooms."
Lilith asked warily, "What are you doing?"
Tony looked at her with a half-smile, "I don't like this room number. Is that okay?"
"Oh~ Isn't it that you want to take this chance to get closer to Lilith?" Some people who knew their relationship started to tease, and others around them joined in.
Lilith's heart was as clear as a mirror. She knew very well why these people were acting this way. It was simply because she and Tony had once had a relationship. These people were just like those who love to watch a commotion, all of them with the mentality of enjoying the spectacle without caring about the trouble.
Lilith was too lazy to explain and was just playing with her phone.
"Here's 302, Tony. Do you want to swap?" Jack asked, holding up the room key in his hand and casually tossing it to Tony.
Tony reached out to catch it, raised an eyebrow and said, "Thanks, mate."
Lilith just laughed it off. Anyway, even if Jack lived next door to her, they wouldn't have much to do with each other.
She carried her luggage upstairs. As she only planned to stay for two days, she didn't bring much, just some change of clothes and cosmetics.
However, before she could even reach the stairs, the suitcase in her hand was snatched away. Tony took the suitcase from her and looked behind her, saying, "Beautiful Miss Lilith, a woman should know how to be weak. Let me handle this."
This time, apart from them, the rest of the young masters who came along basically all brought female companions. Lilith followed his gaze and looked back, seeing those girls chattering away beside their dates, carrying nothing but handbags in their hands.
Even Winnie followed Jack and said pitifully, "Mr. Jack, could you please help me carry it up? My feet are not very convenient."
Jack nodded generously, picked up her suitcase and started walking. The staircase of the bamboo house was narrow, and he bumped into Lilith while carrying the suitcase.
Lilith subconsciously moved aside a little. However, she failed to notice that the inn was built with bamboo, and on the ground beside the staircase, the bamboo that was originally tightly arranged had cracked a bit.
Lilith was used to maintaining a refined and proper appearance in public and always wore high heels habitually.
In the moment of losing her balance, Lilith reflexively closed her eyes. However, the expected pain didn't come; instead, she was suddenly and tightly embraced around the waist, pulled into a warm embrace.
Lilith opened her eyes and just caught sight of Jack's serious expression.
He looked down at her, his face showing no emotion. "Miss Lilith, be careful."
Lilith steadied herself against the nearby railing and shifted her gaze to the hand that was around her waist.
Jack seemed to come to his senses just then. The next second, he let go of her hand and distanced himself from her. Then, in a cold and weary tone, he asked, "Can you get up by yourself?"
Is this because she's afraid that he'll help her up?
Lilith's lowered eyelashes concealed the trace of sarcasm that flashed across her eyes. Just as she was about to speak, she was lifted up from behind.
Tony's deep voice sounded in her ear, "You can even sprain your ankle when you're fine. You're still so clumsy."
Lilith squirmed uncomfortably. "Tony, what are you doing? Put me down!"
"Shut up. I'm a doctor."
Jack stood still like a statue, his eyes fixed on the direction where Tony and Lilith had gone. Tony's steps were firm and powerful, each one exuding an irresistible air of dominance. He held Lilith tightly, as if she were a precious treasure that no one else could covet.
Lilith was completely overshadowed by Tony's imposing presence. She curled up in the man's arms, looking so fragile and petite. Her body trembled slightly, as if she were afraid of something, yet she was powerless to break free from Tony's embrace.
Jack just stood there quietly, watching their backs, a complex emotion welling up in his heart.
The legs of the wide-leg pants were rolled up a bit, revealing a snow-white and slender ankle that swayed slightly.
Jack stared at her ankle, froze for a moment, and then quickly came to his senses. Lilith, both embarrassed and annoyed in Tony's arms, slapped his shoulder hard, "I didn't twist my ankle at all. Put me down right now." Tony pretended not to hear and carried her straight up to the third floor, arriving at the door of Room 303.
On the other side, Jack returned to his room, but the image of Lilith almost falling just now kept flashing through his mind. He shook his head irritably, trying to get rid of those images.
