After Jack left, Lilith dozed off for a while before getting up. Years of working overtime had made her stomach weak, and she couldn't go without food.
Lilith limped over to the table and poured herself a glass of water. The water trickled down her parched throat, and Lilith felt a little relieved.
She took out her phone and opened the food delivery app. Owens and the others had been clamoring to go to the next scenic spot in the resort area to check it out. Tony, although not fond of joining in the commotion, was also dragged along by them.
Lilith remained calm and composed as she ordered herself some snacks. She thought to herself that Owens and the others must have long forgotten that she, the unlucky one, was still in the inn.
So it's highly likely that no one will bring her dinner either.
Sure enough, Lilith's guess was confirmed. Owens and the others really forgot her completely. These rich kids went to the bar in high spirits, enjoying their happy time to the fullest.
However, Tony was different from the others. He still had Lillith, the patient, on his mind. Just as he was about to leave to take care of her, Owens firmly refused to let him go.
"Don't worry. She's not a child. How could she get lost?" Owens said dismissively, seemingly not caring at all about Lillith's situation.
Tony was a bit helpless, but Owens wouldn't give up. He forced a glass of wine into Tony's hand and said enthusiastically, "You haven't been back for years. This time, you must spend some quality time with your good buddy! Look, it's been so long and you haven't come back to see me. I've missed you to death!"
Seeing Owens start to talk nonsense, Tony knew that if he didn't go along with him, it might cause more trouble. So, in order to shut Owens up, Tony had no choice but to drink with him reluctantly.
Tony never drinks too much either. He just has a few to show his intention, but he never dares to get drunk. Alcohol can affect the nerves, and as a surgeon, he values the stability of his hands very much.
Owens had two drinks with him but found it boring and turned his attention to Jack again.
He sat down beside Jack with a glass of wine in his hand. "Hey, Jack, what are you thinking about? That beauty?"
Jack picked up his cup and tapped it against his, giving a faint smile and replying, "No. You think everyone is like you."
Let me guess! You're thinking about when you're going to marry Amy, right? Actually, it's not good for the two of you to keep dragging this out.
If you ask me, Amy has been following you for so many years without any recognition or status. It's really quite unfair. Which girl could bear that?
Owens gets drunk easily and when he does, he doesn't know what he's saying.
Everyone knows his character, so no one takes him seriously.
Jack finished the wine in his glass and gave a noncommittal hum, "Let's talk about it later."
It's called a bar, but there aren't many people. A few people are sitting together in twos and threes, and most of them are tourists from other places.
Jack didn't really take in much of what Owens was saying. He was looking at the swaying wine glass, but his mind was more on Lilith.
Jack himself didn't know why. Instead of thinking about his beloved Amy, he was thinking about the one he hated most, Lilith.
Her cat-like moans and the constantly swinging ankles.
Those ambiguous yet touching scenes kept flashing through his mind over and over again.
Jack made a clicking sound and, with practiced ease, poured himself another glass of wine.
Unaware that she was in someone else's mind, Lilith was skipping and walking as she took her takeout from the front desk.
Just as I was about to have a meal, a message popped up on my phone.
Ethan: Is it fun to go on a trip?
Lilith had a fork in her mouth and was typing with both hands: The air is great. I'll bring you here to play later.
Ethan: Bill said he misses you a little. (Bill is the dog that Lilith keeps at home.)
Lilith's eyes and eyebrows curved up in an instant. Just as she was about to reply, the door was opened.
Lilith recognized the person who came and instantly changed her smile, putting on a professional fake smile. "Why are you here again?"
Jack's eyes swept over the snacks and the Coke in front of her.
Just as he pushed the door open, he saw her with a fork in her mouth, smiling sweetly.
Suddenly, his gaze paused and fixed on the chat interface of Ruan Liqing's mobile phone.
Ethan. Jack repeated these two words in his mind, then lifted his eyelids to look at her. "Miss Lilith, I didn't expect you to have someone else outside?"
Lilith raised an eyebrow and retorted, "Why can you have it but I can't?"
Jack said softly, "It's up to you."
Lilith kept smiling, turned off the phone screen, and then asked politely but distantly, "Master Jack, you're back now. Do you still want to do it again?"
