I kept twirling the noodles round and round around my fork, waiting for Carter. The food turned cold minutes ago, but I'm not touching it. I look up worried where he was. The diner is crowded with people early in the afternoon, yet I find it quiet. I look ahead, glancing at the empty seat in front of me in exasperation. When is he going to come?
