Chapter 1: Welcome to Chaos World

3379 Words
I woke up from a two-year coma just to find out that I only have 3 months to live. Nice! What a great gift you have for me, GOD! Thank you so much! Seriously, why are you in a hurry in taking me back? I have so much I wanted to do. Come on! You took my parents when I was five and took my sister when I was sixteen! Now, I am 23, and you want to take me too? What did I do wrong? I never blamed you before! Why won't you give me a chance to enjoy my life? Sniffle! I was crying all night. It is hard to accept that I am dying after 3 months or less! I haven't done anything wrong, as far as I know; I was good, but God gave me a brain tumor. If I just had the chance, then I would have lived comfortably and with meaning. I dreamed of becoming a physicist; to change the world in my little way. Now? I think I just need to count my days; prepare the formula for my death. Rumble! Rumble! I suddenly felt the floor tremble. An earthquake? Rumble! Rumble! Strange that it's shaking violently but I don't hear any screaming or panicking outside. Crack! c***k! "HELP! HELP!" I screamed with all my might. God, 3 months is not up, don't kill me yet. Crack! I heard the cracking sound of the floor just below the bed. Then everything went black. ====================================================== "Useless! You imbecile!" "Sorry master. I-I was wro…" “Slap!” The slap resounded across the room as I came to my senses. There seemed to be somebody scolding someone. "I told you to summon a healthy body. What do you want me to do with this one? It's already dying!" Seems like that angry female voice was referring to me. I had a weak body due to my brain tumor. And... wait did she say summon? I tried to open my eyes but I was too weak and when I managed to slightly open them, everything was blurry. Why are they shouting in the hospital? Wait, wasn't there an earthquake? "I'll find you another one, master. I-I am so sorry, master." Why is that voice calling her master? Is that a new title for doctors? How many months was I in a coma, again? "Dispose of him. I don't need a dying body."  "Y-yes, master. As you command." Are they talking about me? Arghh, my head, it hurts... I woke up because of the constant shaking of where I was currently lying down. It was hard and cold, certainly not a stretcher or a bed. Why is it shaking though? Is there another earthquake? But I feel like I'm lying on something moving. Right, there was an earthquake and maybe they are taking me to another hospital. I tried to open my eyes but I failed. Am I still in a coma? No, I shouldn't be. Oh, oh, here it comes again, this pain. Arghh!! I woke up again. I felt the grass on my back. Why am I lying on grass? Didn't they take me to another hospital? I tried to force my eyes open. I tried many times and when I did it was still blurry. I saw faint shadows of trees. Is this really the hospital? I tried to move my body but I can't. Even my fingers won't move. I was too weak and I fainted again. "Pyon~" I heard a buzzing sound like those of bees. And a pyon? What is that? "Pyon~pyon~" There it is again. What's making that pyonpyon sound? Hey it disappeared, that buzzing sound. What was that? Where am I? Damn eyes, why won't you open? "Pyon~" It came back. Hey, what is this? I felt tiny hands on my lips. Wait, is it feeding me something? No! Oy! Stop! "Pyon~Pyon~pyon~" What's this? Meat? This texture, it's raw. Hey! Why are you feeding me raw meat! Do you want to kill me? And how am I supposed to swallow this? Muh~ that's strange it easily slid down my throat. But still that was raw! What is this thing doing to me? Nurse! Help! It disappeared again. Where am I? Why won't my voice come out? Arghh, this pain again.  This repeated for some time. I woke up and got fed by that mysterious thing. It was just my consciousness that is awake by the way. After a while I would faint again from the pain.  I didn't know how long it happened. I don't know how long I was lying here, with me fainting from time to time, I don't really know what time or what day it is but I finally had enough strength to open my eyes. I saw branches and lush green leaves. I sat up and looked around.  "F-forest? Why am I in the middle of a forest?" Well, I felt I was lying on grass but I thought it was the bed sheet.  "Pyo-pyon~?" I hear that weird sound again. I looked for it and saw something hidden behind a tree. What's that thing? It got wings? Tiny wings? HUH?? Fa-fairy? ================================================== ======================================================= I saw it! That thing that made that "pyonpyon" sound, it was a fairy; I think it was so. It has pinkish-red skin, blonde hair, and dragonfly-like wings. It was peeking behind the tree. Hey, I should be the afraid one, not you! "Hi!" I waved my hand at her. She tilted her head, and slowly, she came out from behind that tree. "Pyon!" "You took care of me?" She nods. "Thank You!" She smiled and happily looped in the air. "Pyon!" She gestured to me like saying "come with me"! Although reluctant and confused, I followed her deep into the forest. I have no choice but to follow her since I don't know where I am! I don't even know what is happening right now. I might be dreaming! I mean, fairies aren't real, are they!? On the way, I could feel hostile gazes from everywhere. I frantically shifted my head left and right. Man, this place is creepy! “Kush… kush…” something moved in the bushes at the corner. What was that? “Kiyaooo!” Startled by the strange sound, I looked up. It was a bird, right? I hope it was.   I followed the little fairy for about half an hour or so, I guess. “Where are we going?” I asked a bit panicky. I couldn't see any animals nearby nor can I hear chirping birds; it became eerily quiet the deeper we go. "Hey, where are we going?" I asked her again. The anxiousness is very clear in my voice but she only answered me with "pyon". I didn't understand it; I guess she meant "we're almost there!" After walking for a while more, she finally stopped in front of two large trees. Those were the largest trees I have ever seen. I estimate each trunk should at least require hundreds of men to circle it. The height of those trees is freaking tall; I couldn't see the top. In between those trees, hanging vines can be seen; there are millions of finger-thick vines hanging from them. “Oh, wow! Is this some sort of a magic gate to your place?” I asked the little fairy. “Pyon!” She shook her head. I guess not. She gestured to follow her as she flew in through the vines. I hesitated. For God's sake, I don't know what is behind those vines. However, I still went in to follow. It took me, at least, 3 minutes to go through. When I reached the other side, I was shocked; there was a huge castle ruin inside. Why is there a castle here? That little fairy went inside the castle after she gestured to me to go inside as well. I observed the ruin; there had to be a war that took place here. The area around this castle was destroyed. The front door was gone, its front yard was filled with holes, looking like bombs had been dropped there. There were scorch marks on the castle walls. Strangely, though, there were no corpses, or at least left over bones. There were no weapons too. I wondered what had happened here? Why is this fairy taking me here? Maybe I shouldn’t follow that fairy anymore. What if something bad is waiting inside? Oh my… I remember what my grandmother told me when I was a child! She said to never follow a fairy, if they give you anything, specially food, one should not accept it, much less eat it or you won’t be able to come back to the real world. Wait, she fed me something a while ago. Oh no! What will happen to me now? While I was grumbling on my mind, the little fairy came back. “Pyon! Pyon!” she sounded. Maybe she thought, I got lost because I didn’t follow her inside. “What?” “Pyon! Pyon-pyon!” She waved her hand around. “I don’t understand you. Do you really want me to follow you inside?” “Pyon!” She readily nodded. “Pyon-pyon!” “Is it safe? You are not tricking me, right? I will not be stuck here forever, right?” She tilted her head. “Pyon?” She stared at me. What? I am just cautious. Alright, “Fine!” I lift my foot, left, right. My feet felt like they are stuck in cement. I am really hesitating. I stopped and took a deep, very deep breath. I decided to steel myself and just go in. What do I have to be afraid of? I am dying anyway. I followed the little fairy inside and I was gob smacked the moment I entered. The castle interior was splendid and dazzling. It was very different from its outside appearance. The castle walls were decorated with extravagant artworks, the chandeliers were made of pure gold, I think. There's also a red carpet, and at the end of it seats the golden throne. It was not so scary as what I first thought but thinking about what my grandmother told me back then, she was right, fairies are masters of deception. She said that fairies lived in huge trees but they were not trees at all. They disguised their huge castles as trees. She even said that they deceive people to take them into their palaces. Once inside, it will be very hard to come out again. Grandma, I will never doubt your fairy tales, again, ever! Who would have thought that inside that destroyed castle is like this? At each side of the golden throne were 5 golden armors. The armors differed in sizes. On the right side, one armor seemed to belong to a giant, another looked very small; smaller than a dwarf, I think? “Wow! Your palace is very beautiful!”  The little fairy flew to the throne. As she reached the throne a very bright light came forth; I was blinded for a moment, and when my sight came back, I saw a man sitting on the throne, on his shoulder was the little fairy. "Welcome!" His loud voice shook the castle walls. I thought it would collapse. That man must be the fairy king of this place. He was huge. He must be at least 18 feet tall if he stood up. He wore a golden armor with intricate carvings and runes. His brown beard swayed with the wind. He looks to be around 40 years old or so I thought. The man carried such overwhelming and dignified aura. "What's the matter, boy?" his question brought me back from my dazed expression. "Um! Ah..." I don’t know what to say. Should I bow or something? "Speak up!" He ordered. He just spoke but it sounded more like a roar. "Y-yes, I'm sorry! I am Mike Cole. A-are you perhaps the king of this place?" After my introduction, the little fairy whispered something to the man on the throne. "I see." He stroked his beard while looking at me. His gaze was strong and intruding. It feels like he saw through my soul. "I am not the king of this place but I do own everything in this forest." Huh? Isn't that the same? "..." "Come closer, boy." What? Aren’t I close enough. I am standing, at least 5 meters from the throne. It’s close enough, why are you ordering me to go closer? Although reluctant, I went closer to the throne and bowed. "Raise your head! I told you, I'm not the king." You're saying you’re not but you are sitting on the throne. Is this guy sane? Plus, you’re scary! "Pardon me, sir, where is this place?" "Come with me." He stood and went out to the exit door on the left side corner of the castle. Are all fairies like this? They just go and tell you to follow them. If this little fairy is his daughter, then she is, truly, a chip off the old block.  I followed him. What I saw after was a beautiful garden; it was full of flowers and trees. Although, I haven’t seen every species and kind of flowers but I can safely say, that I have never seen these flowers before, even on Earth. Am I really in fairy land? How the heck did I came here? Right, the earthquake! The earth broke and I fell in it. Come to think of it, that little fairy was not the first to discover me, there were two others.  At the center of the garden, he sat down, then he gestured me to sit down as well. "I am Ordeus, a fairy overlord. I know you are confused about everything but let me tell you, this is not your world." "Huh?" "The world you were from and this world are different worlds. You are now in Chaos World." Chaos world? Different world? "So this is not Earth?" "No." "I am dreaming, am I not?" "No, you are not dreaming." "..." So, this is not Earth. This is Chaos. A different world? How did I get here? Did I die? Is this the afterlife? I thought it’s called heaven. "Listen! You being summoned here is a mystery." I was summoned? This is turning somewhat the same as what I have read in some fiction fantasy novels. "I was summoned here!" "Yes. Summoned individuals from another world like you are called “world travelers,” however, in your case, it should be impossible." He said which left me puzzled. "Why is that?" I asked. I am so confused, how is this possible; summoning someone into another world? "Summoning a world traveler requires a huge amount of magic power, at most, the rank of an Overlord, but the Overlord Summoner is long dead and no one has risen to that rank ever since." I see. So, me, being summoned here is an anomaly; I shouldn't be here. Why did this happen? Who did this to me? "Then how am I here? Who summoned me?" I asked him anxiously. "I do not know. Your summoner must have used a different method of summoning. If an Overlord Summoner brought you here, then I would have noticed the fluctuations in the mana." I don’t know how to respond to him. How can this be possible? There are so many questions in my head. Oh! My head! I had a tumor, right? And I should have at least 3 months left to live. Strange that I don’t feel sick anymore. "So, I'm stuck here," I concluded after a brief moment of silence. "I am sorry." He bowed. I can see his sincerity and his sympathy but I am already a dead person on Earth anyway, so, if I die here, it doesn't matter. "It's alright. I'm already counting my days anyway. I have a brain tumor and have only 3 months to live so I don't mind what's going to happen to me. I accept my fate. I am at the end of my line." "..." "That little fairy is your underling?" "Yes." "She took care of me. Thank you for that! Well, Mr. Ordeus, I should be going." I stood and prepared to walk out of the castle when the little fairy whispered to Ordeus' ear again. "Wait. You won't die." I stopped on my tracks. I faced him. "What did you say?" "You will not die, Mike Cole." What is he saying? Is he also a doctor or something? "I won't? How do you know? It’s too late for an operation." "Believe me! Aria here told me so..." So that was the little fairy's name, Aria. "What did she tell you?" I am curious. What does this little fairy know? Did she use her magic to scan my body? Did she know the magic that can cure a tumor? "She told me you will not die because you are already dead." "..." What!? Did I hear him correctly or is my tumor messing with my hearing? “Could you say that again, please?” “You are already dead, Mike Cole!” I heard him right. “…” I'm already dead. I don't know what to say. Wait! I still have 3 months! If I am dead, then how am I still breathing and talking to these guys? "You must be joking! I am talking to you right now, so I am not dead. My time is not up yet!" I said. "No. You died." "..." I was stumped. What does he mean I died? Dead people don't walk and talk. Seeing my confused reaction, Ordeus started to explain my current circumstance. "A week ago, Aria was playing in the forest when she saw you lying on the ground. You were already so weak. She was very sure you would die in a while." The fairy was continuously whispering on Ordeus' ear while he was relating it to me. "WHAT? You did that?" He suddenly raised his voice at Aria. The little fairy was about to cry but continued saying “pyonpyon” at him. I guess she's saying she's sorry. He sighed and continued relating. "At first she decided to leave you alone but eventually she decided to help you. When she came to you, you were already at your last breath. That's when she decided to feed you the “hero's flesh”." "H-he-hero's flesh? SHE FED ME HUMAN'S FLESH!!" This time it was my turn to raise my voice at her. "Calm down! She said it was the only way to bring your life back." She was prostrating on Ordeus' shoulder. "Ha…" So, I died but my life was brought back by Aria. That explains why I can't move or open my eyes at that time. "Am I a zombie now?" I asked. "Zombie? I don't know what that is, but if you mean undead, then unlikely." "What do you mean?" "You died, however, she brought back your consciousness. If you truly became an undead, then we won't be talking here. I would have destroyed you." So, I am dead! I am a walking corpse but not a zombie nor an undead. How is...? This is confusing. "If I am not an undead then what am I?" "You are the first human immortal." Shut the front door! Is there something wrong with my ears today? He just said I am immortal now! "Huh? I-im-immortal? Me?" Did I become immortal? By eating human flesh, I came back to life and became immortal? Is this what God said, to eat his flesh and drink his blood to have everlasting life? Did I eat Jesus' flesh? This is a joke, how is this possible? Right, I blamed God so he is playing a trick on me. Nice move GOD! Thumbs up! "Did you fed “the Almighty” to me?" I asked, worriedly. "Almighty? Who's the Almighty? We fed you a person's flesh but not the Almighty's." Not Jesus' flesh. Phew! That is a relief! Wait, "Then who's flesh did you feed me?" “I told you, she fed you the “hero’s flesh”." Who the hell is this hero that, eating him, made me immortal? "That “hero's flesh” is a special type of meat. Of course, as you said, it was a human's flesh. Aria, take him out." He commanded with a respectful tone as he said “him”. Aria floated from his shoulder. A pink light shone from her. In the next moment, a body floated in front of us. Magic! She just used magic! The body was enclosed in a clear, bluish sphere. It was a man at '30s with brown hair. He was missing a leg. "Whoa! Is that the body in which the meat came from? Is he still alive?" It is not Jesus; nope, not Jesus. Thank God! I thought I ate "HIM"; that would be sinful. I don't want to end up in hell when I die. "He's dead hundreds of years already, don't worry." I should be disgusted by this, but, somehow, that feeling is absent right now. I am not vomiting when I should have. "Who is that guy?" I asked. "This is my master, Ohm. He is like you, a "world traveler"."
