Nikolas casted his own portal. Rhaena watched him as he chanted the spell and made a hole of breezing air out of thick. The wind was too strong, and it made her hair sprawled all over her back until it reached her waist.
“Okay, it’s done.” Nik said, too proud of his work. Smirking in triumph. Rhaena rolls her eyes, while shaking her head.
“You better make sure that we won’t end up in Limbo. My sister needs me here,” She says.
“You know, you’ve known me for years. I think you should start trusting my craft and chanting skills,” He huffs.
“Yes, I’ve known you for years that is why I don’t trust your craft, your chanting skills and everything you do.” She said. “Do you remember when we used to live in my uncle’s camp along with the savages, and he ran out of warlock to portal Teiton to Kentoshi town to rubbed off the Market sellers. He assigned you to make a portal for Teiton, and you did. But, until now no one knows where he is the moment he stepped inside the portal you made for him.”
Nik let out an annoyed noise, and narrowed his eyes at Rhaena.
“Hey, I told you. I don’t know how many times must I tell, that it was his fault. I told him to think of Kentoshi Market, he was probably thinking of something else. Good thing for him though, the moment the war starts. He doesn't have to wield a sword or cast his magic until his last breath. He would be just in the Limbo for the rest of his life.”
“That’s worse than death, Nik.” Says Rhaena. Shaking off the idea of Limbo before they stepped inside the Portal Nikolas had chanted.
When they arrived in Sandsteels, the smell of forge iron filled her nose. She knows exactly where they are. She used to go here when she was just a girl, watching the Brotherhood of Irons forge the steels of the Knights of Sandsteel. Despite the steel they were using was ordinary and not of Galapornean origin. The way they do it, amazes her. It confuses her how they landed here when she was thinking of her uncle Orwyn. She must have been thinking of this place when they stepped inside the portal. The Iron castle is empty and silent as a ghost. Except for the waving sound of the flames on the counter where the melted steels are being mixed with other origins of steels. Her senses heightened when she senses something foul around the area. Nikolas gripped her wrist. His eyes wide as he motions for her too keep her movements slow. Rhaena nodded, her left hand reached for the hilt of her sword, while the other was ready to cast.
Something isn’t right here.
The House of the Brotherhood of Irons shouldn’t be this silent. It is supposed to be filled with the noise of their hammer as they slammed it to make the steels stronger and finer. Rhaena suddenly hears a rapid breathing. Her senses were so heightened that she could practically hear her own breathing and the beating of their hearts. It was dark inside, which made it more difficult for them to navigate the area. The floor was filled with water which made their steps louder and more noticeable. Nikolas’ face broke into a disgusted expression when he noticed the floor was slippery with muds. He hated living in the camps because he had to step and sleep on muds everyday, and it disgusted him. Rhaena smells something bitter and when she realizes what it was. She took a sharp breath and shook Nikolas who was already horrified.
“I smell blood,” She whispers.
Nik nodded in agreement.
Rhaena followed the rapid breathing, it wasn’t hers or Nikolas’. It was someone else’s. She found where it came from. Whoever that person is, it's hiding underneath the counter. She duck and was horrified to find her Uncle Orwyn hidden underneath the counter. Both of his arms were around his knees in fear.
“Uncle?”
“Lord Orwyn?” says Nikolas. “No wonder we ended up here, because he’s here, obviously.”
Lord Orwyn raised his head. Eyes wide as an owl’s eyes and it landed on his niece. He gripped her knees in fear.
“The fallens are here!” He cried out and it was already too late for someone pushed the door open and they could hear heavy footsteps coming towards them.
