Jake was in his office room, his eyes fixated on his computer when the door flung opened, and her wife, and Their personal doctor walked in.
The doctor bowed and greeted him before stretching him a file. He knew what it was as he collected it.
“Please, just let it be good news” he thought, gripping the edge of his chair tightly. This would be exact three weeks since him and his wife did the IVF operation.
He gulped, scanning the paper, then he gazed up, his expression said it all,. "Well?" His voice trembled slightly. "What’s the result, what is this all about?". Even though he knew what the paper says.
The doctor sighed, “I’m sorry, boss. It failed.”
The words struck him like a train. The room seemed to spin, the doctor immediately left the room as Jake rubbed his face with his palm.
Jane, his wife Nodded, then she laughed—a cold, bitter laugh that sliced through him.
"Well, isn't this just perfect?" she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Jake looked up, confused. “Jane, what—?”
“Oh, don’t look so surprised.” She folded her arms across her chest, “This is exactly what I expected, I know you can never give offsprings!”
His heart sank, “jane?..”
She rolled her eyes, “you are a Faliure, I shouldn't have marry you and just go for your brother, I thought you would have a bright future in the family, but I guessed wrong!”.
Her words hit him like a slap to the face. Jane and him married three years ago, through a contract marriage. Jane was given the option to choose from any male of the Collins family, and she chose Jake.
Not out of love, but Greed. The Collins family was one of the biggest, popular and most influential families in the city, and Jake being the first grandson, and also a good businessman had a very high chance of becoming the successor, everyone knew that, and that was the reason Jane chose him.
“Jane, why are you like this, you said you won't care about the results that we would adopt a kid, also, I even paid you 30 million dollars to stay with me!”. Jake stated.
“And so?, Your money is nothing to me, look, I thought then that Mr. Collins would make you his hier no matter the situation, but he made it clear a week ago that only someone that gives birth to a male child can become his successor, and there is you, who can't provide any gender”, she laughed at him.
This pained Jake, but stayed cool, “So, what now”.
“What now?, What will happen now is that I will divorce you, you are the problem with impotent issues, I have seen a better offer, your brother said he will accept me back, so, I am going back to him”, she simply said.
“So, all this years of our marriage is just a transaction to you”, he asked.
“Yeah, in fact, I have never love you, I just want to be popular, I thought you would become the leader of the Collins family, but you are just a pathetic fellow, you even want to use money to clip me down”.
Jake scoffed, Jake never wanted to marry Jane, even, he didn't want any lady in his life since his first love broke his heart, but because of the family condition, he did marry her.
Jane came into his life, and gradually he began to fall in love, but just now, his heart shattered into several pieces. Jane never loved him.
Jake added, “You know the family said they would disown me if I ever divorce you”.
“Haha, is that my own problem, you should blame your d**k for not giving you sperm to make a child, look, I will be expecting the divorce paper, I am leaving now and packing all my luggage”, Jane said and walked out of the room.
Jake sighed, trying to stay calm. If this marriage broke off, he would fall hard. He currently owned the best-performing youth-run company in the city, but without his family support, he would crumble. He ran a hand through his hair, attempting to maintain his composure.
Then his phone rang. He checked it nonchalantly and saw the doctor's ID on the caller display. He exhaled, gathered himself, and picked up the call.
"Hello, Doc."
"Sir, there's a huge problem with the IVF procedure. You need to come here right now—alone," the doctor said.
