Eva slumped into the chair, her thoughts swirling with visions of getting revenge. Especially to her husband's family, They had treated her like an unwanted houseplant and maltreated her alot, she hoped for revenge. Mr. Thomas cleared his throat, breaking her reverie. “When should we arrange your termination? If you want to keep it, you will receive the termination fee instead.” Eva's heart raced, and she rubbed her eyes. “I will term—”. The creaking door interrupted her as Jake swaggered in, hands deep in his pockets like he was about to take on a horde of villains. “Okay, let’s do that. But remember, you will follow my rules!”. She could hardly contain her excitement. Before she even thought it through, she leaped up and threw her arms around him. “Thank you so much!”. “what! No unnecessary touching. That’s Rule Number One,” he growled. Eva quickly withdrew her arms and bowed. “I’m sorry, I was just... um, really happy,” she stammered. “Don’t be. There will be many rules, and I doubt you will enjoy following them. So until you hear them all, keep that smile in check,” he replied, crossing his arms. “Oh, I can handle your rules—even if there are a hundred of them! As long as I get to use you,” she beamed. Mr. Thomas jumped in, “Sir, I’m thrilled to hear this! We should start the antenatal treatment immediately. Since it’s through IVF, she’ll need special care.” “Fine, do that. I will cover every expenses” Jake muttered, realizing he had no choice but to go along with this scheme if he wanted to keep his status in the family. Plus, if the child turned out to be a boy, it would lock in his successor. He was just terrified of women and had sworn off love after Jane's heartbreak. But the idea of making the rules was enough to convince him to reconsider. Eva plastered on her best smile, her eyes sparkling like a kid as she stared at jake. Jake narrowed his gaze. “No unnecessary staring. That will definitely be in the rules.” “Oh, come on! That’s a bit much” Eva shot back. “Are you complaining already? Maybe we should just call it off,” he countered, raising an eyebrow. “No, no, no! I’m totally fine with it! Let’s go on!” she insisted. The doctor piped up, “Okay, Mrs. Michael—sorry, Mrs. Jake, follow me for your treatment.” Jake shot the doctor a warning glance, and the man scrambled out of the office like a cat caught in a bath. Eva followed him, grinning like someone who had just won the lottery. Jake remained behind, exhaling in frustration and somehow anger. ***** Jake waited in the corridor for Eva. Jake against the wall, tapping his foot impatiently. When the door swung open, Eva emerged, a radiant smile on her face as she saw him, “ woah, you are still here!. I thought you would be gone!”. “Since you are carrying my child, I figured I would better keep an eye on you,” he replied sternly with an icy cold voice,. “And that means you are coming with me to my house.” “Already? Won't we do our wedding” she asked, her eyes widening. Jake twitched his head and walked towards her, “Don't joke with me, you will be my slave just like you said, slaves never make jokes to Their master!. Eva was surprised, as she just stared up, she didn't expect Jake to be this serious. “Okay… master”, she said. “better… what your name”, he demanded. “Eva … and yours master”, she asked. “Jake… and stop adding master to every sentence, it sounds lame”, he said and immediately walked away, while Eva followed suit. They made their way home in silence, the atmosphere was tense. Eva couldn’t help but steal glances at Jake, his expression unreadable as he focused on the road ahead. When they arrived, Eva stepped out of the car and was instantly mesmerized by the sprawling mansion before her. It design took her breath away—tall columns, sprawling gardens, and beautiful flowers that surrounded it, that glimmered like something out of a fairy tale. She stood there, her mouth slightly agape. As they approached the entrance, three maids hurried over and bowed deeply. “Welcome back, sir,” they said in unison. Jake barely glanced at them. “Did you do what I asked?” he demanded, his tone icy. “Yes, sir!” they chirped, standing straight again. Satisfied, Jake nodded as he strode into the house, and Eva followed, her heart racing. Inside, the interior was equally stunning—open spaces, modern furnishings, and soft lighting that created an inviting impression. She felt like she had stepped into a different world. Her gaze fell on three large boxes sitting on the sofa, neatly wrapped and adorned with ribbons as Jake pointed at it, “Check it”. “What’s this?” she asked, curiosity bubbling up as she walked towards it. “That’s for you,” Jake replied. Eva opened the first box and gasped at the sight of a multitude of clothes spilling out—dresses of every colour and style imaginable. “All this for me?, This is too much!” she exclaimed, bewildered. Jake shrugged, unfazed. “No, it’s not. You are going to be my wife in everyone’s eyes, and you can’t just show up looking like you crawled out of a dumpster. There are 500 different dresses in there, and the cheapest one is worth at least $50,000.” “Fifty thousand?” Eva’s eyes widened. “Yeah, you must have been so poor to be shocked by that,” he stated, crossing his arms. “My family are people of standard, you will have to impress them. I can’t have you embarrassing me.” Eva couldn’t help but roll her eyes at his bossy demeanor. “Thanks for the generosity, Jake,” she quipped, trying to lighten the mood. “Don’t call my name when we are alone; that will definitely be one of the rules,” he said, adding, “My lawyer is on his way with the contract, where I will outline all the roles, so dress up.” Eva clenched her fist and uttered to herself, “As long as I will get my revenge, I will keep up with everything!”.
