Autumns POV
All I could think about was the gash in Jays back. Who did that to him? I wanted to kill anyone that brought harm to him all of a sudden and I couldn’t put my finger on why. It was like I was under some sort of spell.
I was dizzy with confusion and I didn’t want to confirm or deny anything just yet, it wasn’t fair to Sage. I knew she was counting on me to clear up some of what was happening but honestly I had never imagined we would be attracted to anyone else’s scent but Bry’s.
They were brothers, so maybe that’s why the alphas scent was intriguing? But Jay had never had an attractive scent… or really any scent now that I thought about it. Plus he was always such a jerk to Sage I never gave him the time of day. But now thinking of him hurt really pissed me off. Everywhere we looked I imagined each person in our camp doing harm to Jay and I pictured myself ripping out their jugular. Why wasn’t he healing? I hope he was okay. But moreover I needed to think about what this meant for me and sage as a whole. We had heard old wives tales about people like us being fated to more than one mate but we always thought that was kind of gross and more of an excuse to be practice polygamy than anything else.
Fated to two mates…? I needed to slow down. I didn’t know anything for sure yet.
“You okay?” Sage asked me, clearly picking up on my tense vibe. I didn’t have the nerve to tell her exactly what I was thinking.
“Yes just confused.” I sighed, sounding exhausted. It wasn’t 100% honest of me but then again, I was the wolf here. I was supposed to have some ancient wolf wisdom to make everything crystal clear, and right now I didn’t have the answer for my human. All of this overthinking was wearing me down.
My ears perked up when I heard Jay speaking to some of the other campers who I had figured out by now were mostly all warriors with the exception of myself and Sara Jean as well as her sister, whose name I learned was Bobbie May.
I watched Jay in anticipation, but couldn’t pick up that mesmerizing scent I just had smelled. What the f**k was going on? Right as the thought crossed my mind, his eyes flickered my way.
Sage gasped and tried to keep her composure. “He doesn’t smell like anything now.” She practically whisper-yelled to me.
“I noticed.” I said, secretly missing the sweet tang on my nostrils.
“You are weirdly calm about this?” She questioned me.
“Just trying to analyze all the facts first.” I said truthfully.
Bry came up to us and put his hand on our shoulder. “Really crazy about the mountain lions right?”
Uhhh, what?
