Sages POV

Jays words rung in my ears. “I’m your mate.”

I just stood there shocked, freezing cold from the shower. I turned off the water and practically picked my jaw up off the floor.

“Holy shit.” Autumn said.

Is he f*****g with us? I asked her.

“No but we definitely do want to f**k him” she replied. Ugh she wasn’t wrong. When he came in here, even in his clothes, I wanted him. His hands on my bare skin made me tingle from my core and left my p***y throbbing for him. I didn’t even have time to wash my body. I dried off and went outside. On my way out I ran into Sara Jean.

“Hey Sug you’re missing the fun, we are headed into town to go get more alcohol… well, to interrogate witnesses but for sure going to get more magic juice for cocktails tonight. Want to come?” She said. Dang how could this girl think about drinking again. My head was still spinning from last night, or maybe it was from jays c**k pressed against my stomach when he grabbed me….

“Ah, no I’m okay. I wanted to pick some herbs today.” I said. I was planning to make dinner for the group tonight.

“Suit yourself honey.” She said. And we made our way back to camp. Bry came up to me and said he was going to lead the Interrogation.

“Will you be alright by yourself?” He said.

“Yes.” I smiled. I needed time to myself.

“Where is the alpha?” Blake asked. Was I paranoid or was he looking at me?

“Must’ve already gotten started.” Bry shrugged. “I’m sure we will see him in town.”

I was definitely being paranoid. Blake was clearly talking to Bry and not looking at me. Right?

Some hours later I was a mile or two upstream picking native herbs. They would go perfectly with the meal I had planned tonight. I saw some bunnies come to the water to get a drink when they saw me. I did my best to be as human as possible, hiding my wolf scent so they could exist freely in their own home.

I saw something over the horizon. One of the off-road vehicles the warriors brought to camp. I hope everything was okay and this wasn’t a frantic attempt to collect me for battle. Since I hadn’t been marked by Bry, nobody in this pack could mind link me. I kind of liked the solitude, me and autumn had enough on our minds.

The bunnies scurried from the water as the vehicle got closer, and as the dust settled I saw the alpha driving. My stomach fluttered.

“Can I take you for a spin?” He said. Good, we weren’t going to finish our conversation. The first, or the second.

I glanced to the mountains and the sun was still high.

“I want to take over” autumn said.

“Okay.” I responded. “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”

“Relax,” she said. “He is our mate.” Before I could respond she had shut me out completely.
