I stared at the screen, my heart pounding. My hands shook as I tried calling him back, but it went straight to voicemail.
And then it hit me.
A sharp, searing pain exploded in my chest, so sudden and intense that it knocked the breath out of me. I doubled over, clutching at my heart as a guttural growl tore from my throat.
“Ah—!” The sound was raw, primal, and filled with agony.
The pain was indescribable, like my heart was being crushed in a vice. It radiated through my entire body, setting every nerve on fire. My legs buckled, and I fell to my knees, gasping for air.
“Eden,” I choked out, my vision blurring as tears burned in my eyes. “What’s happening?”
My wolf was silent.
“Eden, answer me!” I growled, my voice breaking. But he remained quiet, whimpering.
