Gary's face changed when he saw Shirley like this. Gary had known Shirley's health wasn't good since he was a child, so he was very patient with her.
Cheryl laughed to herself as she watched them look at each other across the room. "In that case, let's cancel the engagement. A woman like me really shouldn't be Mrs. Wen. I don't want to be Mrs. Wen either!"
Gary's face turned cold right away. He got close to Cheryl and said, "I don't want a woman like you, even if she throws herself at me! I find it dirty!" Only the two of them could hear him.
Cheryl couldn't help but laugh when she heard this. She never meant to get close to Gary or marry Wen. Because they were "childhood betrothed," she used to be nice to Gary.
At this moment, Shirley walked ahead and told Gary without ado, "Brother Gary, Cheryl isn't a child anymore. Don't blame her. I didn't discipline her well. I was also in the wrong. If I had cared more about Cheryl, I wouldn't have been like this. It's just that Cheryl has been rebellious since she was young and isn't close to Mom and me."
Even though Gary was still mad, he felt better when he heard Shirley say she was to blame. "She's just a loner. Don't worry about her. If she were like you, she wouldn't have done such a thing."
There was a time when Gary could not see Cheryl, even though she was engaged to Gary. She didn't show up around the Wayne family very often, so Gary and Shirley got along better and could be thought of as childhood sweethearts. Also, Shirley's health had been bad since she was young, so he would not lash out at her even if he was mad.
Cheryl's face turned cold when she heard what Gary said. She had seen too many scenes like this over the years. She looked over at Shirley and saw that she was quiet as she looked at Gary. Shirley's face showed a bit of mocking and pride when she saw her look over.
Gary looked over at Kathleen when he saw that Cheryl had stopped talking. "What do you think, Auntie? Do we still need to continue the engagement?"
Kathleen was happy for them to back out of the marriage. That's the only way her precious oldest daughter could marry into the Joe family and join a rich family. "I did not teach this daughter well and embarrassed the Wayne family. I have let you down!" she said with a mean face.
Cheryl was horrified to see the three of them thinking about their own things.
She didn't seem to have any reason to be here.
She didn't even say goodbye before she left.
From the corner of their eyes, the three people who were talking saw her turn around and walk away. Together, they fell quiet.
In his gut, Gary wanted to tell her to stop, but Shirley grabbed his hand and began talking to him before he could say anything.
Gary pulled his eyes away and looked like he was lost. The little girl he met when he was young came to his mind all of a sudden. She would careful and shyly smile every time she saw him.
When did it begin? On her face when she saw him again, she looked cold and uninterested.
When Cheryl left the Wayne family, she stood by the side of the road for a while to keep from feeling sick. She only hoped that she would never come back at this point. It looked like a pile of knives and a sea of fire here. It was important to Cheryl to stay away from everyone and sleep for two months.
No, she still had to work. She had to work to pay the rent. She couldn't even buy food.
She called a cab on her cell phone. Cheryl called her manager, Rachel, after getting in the car and asked her when the third female lead part would be open for auditions.
That was a long pause before Rachel said, "Cheryl, I took another look. I don't think that role is that likeable. Let's look at the others."
The first thing Cheryl thought was that it didn't matter if the figure wasn't likeable. Even though she really needed money right now, she knew before she could say anything that this was probably going to fail again. Since it's a big deal that she slept with someone, no smart director would ask her to be in a movie.
"Alright, Rachel. I'll listen to your plan."
On the other end of the queue, Rachel let out a sigh of satisfaction.
"Cheryl, I see that you've been tired recently. Rest well for a while. I'll help you find a new role. I'll tell you when I find it. I've already told the company about the trending topic. They'll handle it."
The company did not care about her because she was not important to them. Cheryl still agreed to make Rachel feel better, though.
She was drenched in sweat when she got home in the car. Cheryl got through her tiredness and took a shower. So quickly did she wipe off the water and fall asleep that she didn't even have time to dry her hair.
She slept all night. When she woke up, her head hurt so badly it seemed like it would burst.
She put up with the pain and got up to find something to eat for her cold. After that, she ate the bread she had saved and drank cold water with it.
Cheryl didn't do anything for three days and only ate bread. She made herself a bowl of noodles when she felt strong enough.
Alex, Rachel and Gary's cousin, called during this time, but Cheryl didn't answer. When she called back, she said in a calm voice that she had a few days off to watch a movie and figure out how she felt.
Since they had been playing for so long, they didn't notice anything was wrong with her and just told her to rest.
Cheryl finally got better on the third day, and her thought was clear as a bell. She had a sudden thought of something at this point.
Never mind what else she should have done; she should have bought birth control pills first. Her mind had been blank for three days, though, and she had forgotten all about it.
Why would you want to buy it now?
72 hours and 3 days. It had been too long.
Cheryl chose to attempt a Hail Mary. She cleaned up and then went to get medicine.
She hadn't done anything in over a month, and Rachel was the only person she had seen a few times.
One day, Rachel pulled her up quickly and excitedly, telling her to get dressed. After that, she quickly took her away.
I still couldn't believe what Cheryl saw when she stood in the hotel's beautiful dining hall.
Rachel led her to a quiet spot.
"Cheryl, take a seat first. I'll go look for my brother. I'll introduce you to my brother's friends later."
Cheryl said "yes." Even though she had doubts, she sat down and waited for them.
Kevin took a quick look around the dinner hall when he walked in and then fixed his attention on a figure in the corner.
He thought he had forgotten all about the girl after such a long time. He saw her out of the blue in the crowd.
She was dressed in an all-white gown. Her thin neck could be seen through her long black hair that was pulled back. She looked slowly around the dinner hall as if she were looking for someone.
"Kevin, let's go. Why are you standing here?"
Brian urged his friend when he saw that he was still.
Kevin slowly pulled his eyes away when he heard that. "Where did Larry say he was?"
"It's on the second floor. Let's go up first."
They went upstairs together. As they walked, Brian looked both ways.
Kevin knew what it was and asked, "What are you looking for?"
B.: "My younger sister. Yesterday, she pestered me to get her an invitation. She said she wanted to bring her best friend over. Let me see if she's here yet."
The only thing Kevin did was nod. He knew Brian had a sister, but he had never seen her. Brian couldn't stop talking when he talked about his sister. He only talked about how his sister had changed. She used to be soft and cute, but now she wasn't cute at all.
He would be happy to talk about his sister every day, even if she wasn't cute.
He had no chance.
Right away, Kevin looked in that direction. The girl was still sitting there by herself, but someone else joined her.
A man in a dark grey suit sat down next to her. Something was being talked about between them. The girl smiled, but it didn't go all the way to her eyes.
Kevin made a face and turned around. He wanted to walk over right away, but luckily he stopped himself in time.
He took it slow and looked straight ahead as he climbed to the second floor. Still, an unknown fire lit in his heart and burned him so much that he almost blew up right there.
He looked all over the first floor but couldn't find his sister. He got his phone out and was about to call someone.
Suddenly, there was a lot of noise not far away. He looked that way while holding his cell phone.
But Kevin had already walked over quickly before he could see what was going on.
"Holy sh*t."
Brian swore under his breath and quickly put his phone away.
Rachel was supposed to show up, but a guy in his 40s sat down before Rachel did.
He said he was a director and even named a few films that were his best work.
Cheryl didn't know who this person was, but she did remember how hard Rachel had worked to help her, so she chose to wait and talk to him.
After only a few words, she didn't think that person would start touching her.
These days, Cheryl hadn't been feeling well. She felt sick and wanted to throw up a lot of the time. Rachel thought she wasn't getting enough food and even told her to eat more meat, but everything that looked like meat made her sick.
The woman had just drunk another glass of wine and was so sick that she wanted to throw up.
Since she was sick, her anger grew stronger. It was too much trouble for her to act polite around the director anymore. She stood up and turned to leave, but someone grabbed her wrist before she could move.
Cheryl tried to get away but failed. In an angry fit, she picked up the wine glass from the table and smashed it on the man's head.
