Carlota! What the hell is going on with that girl? I couldn’t even say her name in my head without feeling irritation shoot through me. It made no sense. She wasn’t anyone special. She wasn’t even in our circle. She wasn’t popular, she wasn’t powerful, she wasn’t anything. Just a girl who fixed bikes and kept her head down.
Then suddenly Gabriel was defending her. Suddenly he was touching her arm, talking to her, looking at her like she was more important than me. I felt sick every time I thought about it.
