Zamhar reappeared in his mansion in Qasira, he laid Alicia gently on the bed and called a doctor.
The doctor is a vampire doctor, he couldn't take Alicia to a human hospital as it would raise questions on how she got the injuries? And he wasn't ready for human drama.
The doctor cleaned the wounds and administered an antidote for thee poison caused by the claw scratch.
"With some e rest she will be fine." The doctor said as she stood up to leave.
"Can I get something for the scar?" Zamhar asked the doctor.
"Ah yes," The doctor said and handed Zamhar a cream.
"Apply twice a day and the scar will be barely there in two days. One more thing, she needs a change of clothes" The doctor instructed.
"Hmmmm." Zamhar acknowledged and the doctor left.
He stared at Alicia sleeping peacefully sleeping on his bed, her breathing had steadied and he enjoyed the sound of it, he could imagine her expression once she woke up and saw him.
He wondered why he cared and is so attached to this little human. It was unsettling yet felt so normal. Like it was his job to care and worry about her.
A maid knocked on the door and Zamhar asked her to come in.
"Master, Master Liam is here to see you." The maid said not daring to look up at the man.
"Bring him up." Zamhar said in a cold tone with an expression that matched his tone.
The maid scurried away immediately the instructions were passed to her.
"I see we have a guest." Liam commented the moment he entered the room.
"What do you want?" Zamhar asked without looking at him.
"Relax bro, can't you at least welcome your older brother that is just coming back from a trip. I came to see you first." Liam said placing his hand on Zamhar's shoulder.
"Why are you back so early?" Zamhar asked, his voice plain with no emotions.
"I heard we have a saviour now, so I had to return early." Liam replied taking a seat.
His head suddenly snapped towards the bed and his eyes widened slightly seeing the sleeping figure on the bed.
"You brought a human home." Liam said astonished.
"Yes she's the one and I think she's my mate." Zamhar said as if the words were to heavy.
"Whatttt?" Liam shouted.
"Shhhh, she's sleeping. Let's go downstairs and talk." Zamhar said and without waiting for a reply started walking out of the room.
Liam stared at the sleeping figure one last time, before following his brother out.
They arrived at the large sitting room and took seats opposite each other.
"So you're telling me that the human is the chosen one and that she's your mate. This is absurd." Liam exclaimed dramatically.
"I know, I didn't want to believe it at first. But the urge keeps getting stronger by the day." Zamhar said, he hated talking too much and Liam is one of the few people he spoke this much to.
"Wow. I wonder how she will feel hearing this." Liam said still processing the whole thing.
It's rare for a human and a vampire to mate but that doesn't mean it wasn't possible. But the fact that this particular human is going to be in a lot of danger in the coming days makes it much more complicated than ever.
"The dark vampires have started opening portals and transporting the monsters into the human world." Zamhar said ignoring Liam's earlier remark.
"That's expected, they are wielding the dark magic faster than we expected." Liam replied as if he already anticipated the entire thing.
"I can't hold them off for long." Zamhar said looking at Liam.
"I know, your girlfriend needs to accept her fate faster." Liam said sarcastically.
"Girlfriend?" Zamhar asked raising a brow.
"Isn't she your mate?" Liam retorted.
Zamhar knew where the conversation was heading and said, "Does Malika know you are back. And that you came to see me first." Zamhar said in a playfully threatening voice.
"It's getting late, I should be on my way. Have a good night's rest brother. And go easy on her." Liam said and disappeared into thin air.
Zamhar stared at the chair Liam was sitting and promised himself internally to get back at him.
He called over a maid and instructed her to change Alicia's clothes and clean her up. He specifically emphasized that she should be extremely careful.
The maid nodded fearfully and dashed out of the living room and headed towards the room where the lady is sleeping.
Zamhar walked over to the wine cellar in the living room and poured himself a glass. It's been a while since he last drank blood and it was telling on him. He needed blood as soon as possible.
He had to pay a visit to the bar soon. His mind wondered to the girl laying on his bed. He remembered her pale face when he saw her, her almost lifeless body that made his heart race.
He knew he was going to meet his mate one day, what he didn't know was that it was going to be a human. The creatures he considered weak and insignificant is going to be his mate.
The maid came down to inform him that Alicia was all cleaned up and that she is still sleeping.
"Hmm. You can leave." Zamhar said and the maid bolted away.
Zamhar gulped down the rest of the wine and walked upstairs.
Alicia was still asleep when he entered. She had a slight frown on her face.
Zamhar's lips curved up a little seeing the expression on her face he found it funny.
He st on the bed beside her. The maid had changed her clothes and cleaned up all the blood stains. She looked refreshing.
Zamhar picked up a strands of her black hair and inhaled the scent of her shampoo.
It scented like lavender and roses. He dropped the hair strands and his hands traced her face down to her neck.
He stopped himself midway between her collar bone and shook his head. He got up from the bed and left before he would loose control.
He left the room and gently closed the door behind him.
As the door closed Alicia's face twisted before returning back to normal.
