Chapter 5: Assistant Ray

1370 Words
TREVOR'S POV I found it unbelievable at first, but the papers I was looking at couldn't lie. Assistant Ray didn't just leave New York City, he left the country as a whole. "Why did he leave?" I asked Mark. "That's yet to be uncovered. Our men are still investigating it. I already had the ambulance go to pick up your father. He is being taken to the mortuary. We need to fix a date to put him to rest." Mark said to me. I fixed my fingers inside my hair, scratching it as I couldn't help but try to avoid a lot of things clouding my senses. All of these happened to me in under twenty-four hours. I looked outside the car windows and saw that it was already so dark outside. "Just drive to my house," I instructed, and placed my head on the chair to catch my breath. Soon, we got to my own mansion. I then got out of the car and walked in while Ellen followed behind. After parking the car in the garage, Mark came in. I sat on my couch, feeling really tired as I massaged my forehead. "Where is the kitchen? I will make you both something to eat and drink." Ellen suggested, and I waved it. "No, I'm not hungry. I will be in the bedroom. Join me after eating, okay." I said to her and then walked straight into my room under their watch. ********** The next morning wasn't any better. I woke up and stood up only to see Ellen sleeping soundly. She looked really stressed, and I knew it was because of me. I walked closer and then kissed her forehead. "I'm sorry you met me this way. I wish my life were any better." I whispered and then went into the bathroom to have my shower. After that, I got dressed for the day in a black suit and stepped into my study room with no idea of what I needed to do. Losing my father was the worst thing that could have happened to me. I never knew my mother, and this man had taken care of me, making sure I never felt like I needed her. Now he was gone, and I was all alone. A tear rolled out of my eyes. Sniffing, I took out a face towel and cleaned my tears. Then there was a knock on my door. "Come in!" I said in a low voice. Mark walked in. "Good morning, master." I nodded my head. "What is it?" "I am here to ask for a good day to lay the master to rest," he said to me. "Tomorrow evening. Also, do everything to keep the media out of this. Nothing must leak. We will only give out a public statement after he has been laid to rest to avoid distraction, and yes, keep his so-called brothers out of the preparation. They will find out at the same time the public will." I told him, and he left to make preparations. **** The evening of the next day, my father had just been laid to rest at Heaven's Gate Cemetery. A very private and standard cemetery in the city. Everyone around was putting on white. The people around were not much too. It was just the workers in the Billions' home, which included the maids and guards, then me, Ellen, and Mark with a priest. They were all giving their last respect and left after they were done. Soon, Mark left, and it was just Ellen and me. There, I knelt down at my father's grave and cried, not being able to hold myself anymore. "I will make whoever is responsible for this pay for their crime. I'm sorry, Father, I wasn't there for you enough. I will be everything you have ever wanted me to be." I cried out. Ellen came closer to me and held me very tight, not wanting to let me go. I found solace in her arms, and that made the bond I had with her get tighter. We were there for another hour, and after that, we got up and left the cemetery. Getting down from the cemetery, Mark opened the door, and I got in with Ellen. He then drove us back to my house. I took off my dark shade the moment I got into my house and went straight into my room. It was already 8 pm, so I freshened up and decided to get some sleep. "Trevor, you haven't eaten since yesterday. I understand what you are going through, but this is not fair to you. At least do this for your father, please, Trevor." Ellen came pleading with me after she had made some food. I then agreed and followed her to the dining room to eat. Together with Mark, we ate dinner, and after that, I felt a bit better. "Mark, you can now release the news to the public. Use the company's PR and ensure they don't get loud about it." I told him after taking a deep breath. I went to sleep that night hugging Ellen like my life depended on it, but was woken up the next morning by some loud argument that seemed to be happening outside my building. I got up and noticed that Ellen wasn't in my arms anymore. I then walked into the bathroom and freshened up. Dressed up in a green suit, I stepped out with my dark eyeglasses to see what was going on. "This is very bad, and we need him to come out here and explain this to us. We feel insulted!" I heard several voices as I showed myself outside. Turned out it was some extended family members, especially those gold diggers, who hated my father but loved his money. "I'm here!" I said to them, standing firm, and watched as they all went mute. "What now? Oh! You heard the news, and now you are here to talk about how to split his wealth?" I asked them and they went speechless. Obviously, they were scared to speak. They could only talk too much in my absence. "Trevor, we are here so you can explain to us why you hid our brother's death from us and why you made your uncle unconscious and have him lying on the hospital bed struggling for his dear life." Sia Billions, my father's cousin, who was already in her mid-fifties but had yet to get married or have a child, questioned me. "Good! Your brother is my father, and I have every right and higher right to do whatever I want with his corpse. You weren't present when he left this world, and everyone who was present attended his funeral. If you cared this much earlier, he would still be alive. Also, my father was poisoned right under your watch in your god-forsaken family meeting. Aunt Sia, don't you think you owe me some explanation about what happened to my father?" I asked, and they all went silent, not wanting to say a thing anymore. "I just gave Duke Billions a taste of his own medicine, but that doesn't mean I'm done with him. I will come for every single one of you until I am satisfied." I assured them, and they moved backward, feeling scared. "I want you all out of my house this minute, and anyone that dares to bother my peace like this again will be put in the same state as Duke Billions..." I warned, ordering them out of my house as I watched Mark drive in. They walked out, and I turned to go check up on Ellen. She must have been frightened by the recent drama. "Master!" I heard Mark call my name and turned to see him coming out of the garage. "What is it? Get ready, we have to get to work before things go wrong." I told him reluctantly. "I'm afraid things have gone so wrong Master... The family's company has been sold illegally," he reported, and I froze in shock. Billions Empire? "Who dared to do that?" I growled, already thirsty for blood. Mark was looking as devastated as I was. "Assistant Ray!"
