Cassian’s POV: Alex presses a kiss to Cassidy’s cheek before we leave. She’s awake enough to feel it this time — lips twitching slightly against Max’s chest — but she doesn’t open her eyes. Max’s arm tightens around her waist automatically, pulling her closer like it’s instinct instead of choice. “Don’t move,” Max mutters sleepily, voice rough. Alex huffs quietly. “Wasn’t planning to.” I glance toward the chairs by the window. Enzo and Francesco didn’t make it back to their rooms. Both crashed where they sat — Enzo folded into the corner, arms crossed, Francesco slouched sideways with his head tipped back. They were supposed to keep talking. They lost the battle tiredness.
