Natalie sat on her futon, staring blankly at the television set. She could see the flash of colors and movement of characters across the screen, but she could not hear a sound. An empty bottle of Merlot sat on her glass coffee table as she swirled the last few drops in her glass.
Connie was away for the week visiting her parents in Yangshuo, so Natalie was all alone. She had no idea what time it was, since all the curtains were drawn to create a dark mood in the apartment. Every single lock on the door was secured, and she felt hidden away from the rest of the world.
