Chapter Fourteen
Ian’s eyes flew open when he felt Elizabeth’s sudden movement in his arms.
She pressed back against him, whimpering.
He shifted his weight onto the elbow that was still under her neck and gazed down at her. “Lizzie.”
She whimpered again.
“Lizzie.” He put his hand on her shoulder and gave her a gentle squeeze. “Wake up.”
She gasped and flipped on her back, her hands going up in front of her face as if she were fending off an attack.
He grabbed one of her wrists. “Lizzie, it’s okay. It’s just me.”
She allowed him to pull her hand down.
“It was just a nightmare.” Was it? Elizabeth did say she had nightmares about her car accident before it happened. Had she dreamed of another imminent attack?
