“You came by our place a few months ago and you liked my wife’s pie, I knew what you were that first night when you walked into the bar and since there hasn’t been any deaths or livestock missing we knew you were keeping a low profile just like us.” I looked at Madeline. “So are you a wolf as well?” she shakes her head no. “I just love a man with a lot of chest hair.” She said as she smiled lovingly at her husband, I giggled quietly. “Would you both like to come in?” I said as I opened my door, they both nodded and smiled before going inside. “Coffee or tea?” “Tea please, white with 2.” “Coffee the same.” I smiled then put the kettle on. “You live very well for a young girl.” John said from my tv. “I was born into wealth but I have since learnt to love the basics even if it seems overboard to others.” I walked over with their drinks then sat down. “John can I please ask you a question?” “Sure.” I took a deep breathe. “Do you know many others like us? I have only just learnt that I was adopted and I need to know if my parents were well like me.” “There was 4 original families of wolves, the Talbots, the Slaughters, the O’Dell’s and the Winters. My family settled here in the 1800’s, the slaughters were in LA, the O’Dell’s in Miami and the Winters in New Orleans.” “Do you know if anyone gave up a baby girl 17 years ago?” I asked sadly, I loved my parents with my whole heart and soul but I needed to know where I came from. I went into my room and pulled out the envelope from my grandmother, I handed it to John. “This is everything that my grandmother found about my birth parents but it isn’t much.” They both looked at the paperwork then at each other. “Do you mind if we take this with us so we can make a few calls?” I shook my head. “Of course not, anything you can find would be a great help thank you.” They stayed for a little longer before they had to head off. “Be careful tonight it’s the start of a full moon and we heard about your run in with Conner last night.” I changed into a wolf, twice the size that John had been with pure white fur except for a red spiral on my back. “Very impressive, somehow I think you might be able to handle for yourself but don’t forget it’s easier and quicker to heal as a wolf. Tonight Eva.” Madeline kissed my cheek then jumped into the ute and I watched as they pulled away, then I watch on my phone as they pulled out of my driveway and up the road. I had a shower then got dressed into comfortable sweats and a tank top before making a sandwich and settling on the couch watching all three hunger games. I fell asleep sometime during the second movie but I woke up to my phone buzzing quickly I grab it to see a large brown wolf coming from the direction of the Talbot’s farmhouse then another sensor picked up a half breed human/wolf, someone that was turned not born into this life I recognised him as the asshole from the bar.
