Chapter Nine: Alpha Michael

I slammed the door in her face and made sure to lock it. Why was she trying to act nice? For how long did she think she could keep the act up?
Annie was meant to be dead. I had seen her with my own eyes dying. So why was she still alive and even kicking?
She stood there for a few minutes with the plate in her hand before I saw her shadow move. She scoffed a little and then walked away muttering, "This is embarrassing".
I waited until she had completely gone before I opened my door to see. She had her hand full of plates as she gracefully walked down the stairs.
Her movement had changed and so did her speech. The way she carried herself too had improved. She now acted like Luna, not the spoiled sneezy brat that she had always been.
I closed the door again and headed to the bathroom. I took my shower and in a few minutes, I was done and was changing into better clothes when I heard another knock on my door.
"You better not be back here with a snack or meal. I told you I'm not interested!" I yelled as I matched to the door with my shirt flying. "Leave me the hell alone!".
I swung the door open to find a maid standing there. She held a tray in her hand and was there to serve me. My cheeks turned red with embarrassment. As I tried to cover my chest up and clear my throat.
"Come in. I didn't know it was you". She kept the food on the table and came back to the door to bow.
"Before you leave, who made the food?" I asked cautiously.
"The maids did."
I didn't know why but something about that saddened me.
"And what about the ones Luna Annie made?"
She shook her head. "Luna said you wouldn't eat it so she shared it amongst us. Everyone has had their share".
"Was it good? She did that?"
The maid nodded with excitement. She smiled happily.
"Yes. No one ever knew that Luna was a great cook. She said she would be cooking more often".
I asked her to leave and then closed the door.
"I can bet that the meal she made was not even that great. These maids and their exaggerations" I went back to where the meal had been kept and opened it. Suddenly, the food I was always eating did not look so appealing to me again.
I sighed.
"I have other things to do. I am the Alpha supreme. Things like this shouldn't bother me." I thought to myself and carried on with my duties.
"Thank you, everyone, for Coming" I said as I met the other Alphas. They all bowed to me and watched as I took my leave. I was almost out the door when someone asked a question.
"Alpha, I heard that your mate is alive and well. How did that happen? Aren't you excited?".
I stopped at once and drew in a deep breath as I turned to face the crowd.
"Of course I am. Don't tell me you can't see how excited I am to be heading home"
I hoped the rest of the Alpha's could understand the sarcasm behind it and not ask me any further issues. Without an answer to my reaction, I walked away instantly.
Stepping into the office, I made sure to lock the door behind me. All day, everyone had been asking me about my mate. No one concentrated on what I had to say and it was exhausting. "Can't they mind their damn business?".
I banged my hand on the table. All the office equipment fell off and rolled to the edge. I exhaled and sank into my chair.
"If anyone asks me about her again, I am just going to have to burst open!". I yelled out.
I relaxed for a few minutes before someone knocked on the door.
"Alpha, someone is here to see you". My beta wolf opened the door and bowed to greet me.
"Who is it again? I thought you said we had all meetings canceled"
I rolled my eyes and held my head so I could stand up.
"It is your mate, Luna Annie. She is here with a package".
I jumped on my feet immediately. I was too embarrassed to have acted that way so I covered it up by bending down to take my things off the floor.
"Let her in. I'm less busy as it is" I raised my face to my beta. He bowed and walked to open the door.
"Here she is"
I noticed the red bottom heels first. It was followed by my vision of slender-looking tall legs and then a short black skirt. She had a basket in her hand.
"Good evening Alpha Michaels".
My eyes went to her face immediately. "Hello Annie. What brings you here?".
"I was at the market and so I decided to come here and say hi".
I rolled my eyes at her, "Listen. I do not want you to come to my office or-
I suddenly remembered my beta wolf was there and stopped talking.
"Beta, would you please leave us?".
Before he opted to leave, Annie spoke out. "I didn't come for you".
I raised my brow at her, "Excuse me?".
"From all indications, I can see that you aren't so excited to see me and I'm not here for you either. I came for your men. I brought them pies".
I watched as she took out a piece from her basket and threw one at me. I caught it before I stood up.
"I heard they had a meeting of their own, I will be off then" She didn't even wait for me to say anything when she turned her back and left.
I was dumbfounded. "You have got to be kidding me" was she trying to get my attention with this stunt?
I threw the pie to my beta and walked towards her before she could fully step out. Grabbing her by the arm, I pushed her back inside my office, "Leave me the hell alone, woman! I do not like you!"
She pushed back hard causing me to grip her tighter.
"I didn't come for you. Leave me alone"
I pushed her away from me suddenly and almost immediately, the door opened to someone coming in.
"Annie! Michael!"
"Mr Fernando!"
