Chapter 003 Luca's POV Even before I see her, I can sense her presence. That pull is more than just attraction; it's like gravity. The scent of her, akin to roses and an approaching storm, causes my pulse to quicken. She is present. I've been patiently waiting for this moment, for the appropriate time to show myself. Making the appropriate move at the right moment has always been about control for me. However, it's getting more difficult to control myself now. She is just turning down a dark alleyway when I see her, her silhouette contrasting sharply with the waning light. She is by herself, which is uncommon. Just the two of us in this forgotten area of the city – a great time. At first, she doesn't notice me. Excellent. I want to observe her and feel her without her being aware of it. I have more acute senses than any human. Everything about her is so...intense, including the way her breath catches when she's scared and the way her heartbeat quickens when she's by herself. I take a step forward, my boots silent on the sidewalk. "Alessandra." I hear her name slip from my lips as if a chain were encircling her. Her body stiffens as she freezes, but she doesn't look back. She seems to have already recognised me. "Who is present?" Something flickers in me, perhaps fear, as her voice falters. What scares me, though, is not fear. What concerns me is her attempt to hide her fear. Attempting to project strength. That's something I admire about her. I take a step towards her, casting my shadow over her. She's aware now. "You've been observing me," she replies, her voice barely audible. Her tone hints at the question, and it's evident that she's uncertain about how to respond to me. "I have." The admission comes far too easily. I'm not embarrassed, though. I've spent weeks researching her. Even though she is gorgeous in ways that almost seem unreal, it's not only her beauty that captivates me. Her allure transcends mere physical beauty. She carries it within herself. It is the essence of her blood. I move forward, getting so near that I could touch her, but I choose not to. I choose not to touch her just yet. "Why?" Although she speaks softly, there is a hint of mistrust in her tone. I say in a quiet, controlled voice, "I don't think you understand yet." "You're no ordinary person. And you won't be. She doesn't respond or move, but I can see how quickly her chest rises and falls. She is perplexed. I'm scared. There is also a tiny flicker of recognition. There is a subtle hint of recognition. She is aware that the occasion is more than a random meeting. I'm keeping something from her, and she knows it. I move forward one more step, bringing us closer. Her aroma is more intense and enticing now. I feel as though the air is encircling me, and I can practically taste it. "I'm not here by chance." It's the truth, even though I would rather not say it. "Whether you like it or not, you are bound to me.. She doesn't flee, but I can see her gulp and her lips quiver. She's not quite ready yet. Something flashes in her eyes—angry, perhaps? Or perhaps it's disobedience. With a shaky but strong voice, she asks, "What do you want with me?" Even though I know she can't see it, I still smile. I underestimated her might. Few people would be as steadfast as she is. However, a part of me wants to shatter her. I want to see her crumble as I touch and gaze at her. With a slightly too sombre tone, I say, "You don't need to know everything just yet." "You'll learn soon enough." She takes a step back and shakes her head. "Games are not something I have time for." I move closer once more, obstructing her way. “Alessandra, the present isn’t a game. This is who you are now. It doesn't matter how you feel about it. The space is too small for what's hanging in the air, and the tension between us gets thicker. Between us, I can feel the electricity crackling and pulsating. This type of strain causes your heart to accelerate and leads you to develop inappropriate thoughts. My breath is hot against her skin as I lean in. "Eventually, you'll understand." This is what I'm seeking in you. what you were intended for. I'm not sure if her eyes flash with fear, wrath, or something else, but it doesn't matter. I've already made my decision. She murmurs, "I don't think you understand." "Some prize to be claimed—I'm not some." I find myself laughing aloud. "No, you aren't a reward. There is much more to you than that. The tiniest touch of my palm against her arm makes it seem like fire as I reach out. "But, Alessandra, you are mine. You have always been. Her chest rises and falls quickly as she draws away. She shouts sharply, "Stay away from me." I grin once again, but more for myself than for her. "You can't force me to leave." She narrows her eyes. "You believe I will simply allow you to enter my life and take control of it?" "Not take over," I utter quietly, my words brimming with significance. "Modify it." I can see when she will finally understand. I can tell she understands exactly what I mean as her eyes expand. Her voice quivers with a mixture of dread and another emotion as she replies, "You think you can control me." She responds with a darker tone. "I doubt it. I am aware. The words that remain unsaid loom large between us. The alleyway feels smaller now, as the darkness creeps in like a living thing. Her voice is hardly audible above a whisper as she declares, "I don't want this." "I want nothing to do with you." I'm taking a step towards you. "That is not for you to decide." Her palm grazes the chilly brick wall behind her as she steps back. She finds herself confined. She is aware of her confinement. I whisper, my lips just an inch from her ear, "I'll make you understand." She trembles, and I briefly question whether I've gone too far. I don't stop, though. With a challenge in her voice, she continues, "You can try." However, I already know. She will change her mind. There is nothing she can do. I placed my hand softly on her shoulder, just enough to make her heart race. I'll show you, Alessandra. You'll discover your true calling. Knowing that she will continue to think about me long after I'm gone, I walk away and fade into the darkness. What follows? Is Alessandra going to resist or surrender to my power?
