Chapter 17

Bella’s back hit the door with a dull thud, the sound echoing in the empty classroom. Ethan’s body pressed against hers, trapping her completely. His hand stayed planted beside her head while the other gripped her waist hard enough to bruise. “Let me go,” Bella hissed, shoving at his chest with both hands. He didn’t move an inch. Ethan’s smirk deepened, dark and cruel. “You’ve got some f*****g nerve, new girl. First you run your mouth in front of the whole cafeteria, calling me pathetic. Now you think you can tell me what to do?” Bella glared up at him, refusing to shrink back even though her heart was racing. “I said what I meant. You’re a bully. Beating on weaker students doesn’t make you strong — it makes you a coward.” Ethan let out a low, dangerous laugh. He leaned in closer, his face inches from hers, eyes gleaming with malice. “A coward?” His voice dropped into something cold and vicious. “Listen to me, you stupid little b***h. In this school, I am the rules. My family owns this place. I can make your life a living hell with one word. I can have every student here treat you like garbage. I can make sure no one sits with you, no one talks to you, no one even looks at you without my permission.” He tightened his grip on her waist, fingers digging in painfully. “I can have you cornered in every hallway. I can make sure you get ‘accidentally’ shoved down the stairs. I can spread rumors so filthy that even your own roommate won’t want to be seen with you. And if you keep acting like a righteous little cunt, I’ll personally make sure every senior here knows you’re fair game.” Bella’s breath hitched, but she forced herself to hold his gaze. “You’re disgusting.” Ethan’s smirk turned sharper, almost delighted by her defiance. “Oh, I’m just getting started, Freshie. You think you’re tough because you talked back once? Cute. By the end of the week, you’ll be crying in your dorm every night. You’ll beg me to leave you alone. And when you finally break…” He tilted his head, eyes raking over her body slowly. “I’ll ruin you completely. I’ll make sure every wolf in this academy knows you’re nothing but a weak, broken toy. You’ll walk these halls with your head down, too scared to even speak. And if you’re really lucky, maybe I’ll let you suck my c**k just to earn a little mercy.” He pressed his body harder against hers, voice dropping into a venomous whisper. “So keep running that mouth, Bella. Keep playing the hero. I’ll enjoy every second of destroying you. This school is mine. And soon… so will you be.” Bella’s chest heaved with anger and fear, but she refused to look away. Ethan stared at her for a long moment, clearly enjoying the tension, then slowly stepped back, releasing her. He reached for the door handle behind her, his smirk never fading. “See you around, Freshie. Try not to cry too loud tonight.” He opened the door and walked out without another word, leaving Bella standing there, heart pounding, fists clenched, and the weight of his threat hanging heavy in the air. Scott lounged on the worn leather couch in the senior common room, legs stretched out as his friends crowded around him. The conversation had been circling the same topic for the last ten minutes. “Dude, that freshman actually called you and Ethan out in front of everyone,” one of them laughed. “She’s got balls. What are you gonna do about her?” Scott shrugged, popping a piece of gum into his mouth. “I don’t have time for that s**t. I’m focused on beating Ethan’s ass in the basketball game next week. That’s all I care about right now.” He leaned back, a lazy smirk on his face. “Besides, I don’t need to lift a finger. Ethan’s already pissed. He’ll f**k that girl up way worse than I ever could. Let him do the dirty work.” Just then, Amelia sauntered over — tall, blonde, and wearing the kind of confident smile that came with being Scott’s girlfriend. She dropped onto his lap without asking, looping her arms around his neck. “I saw what happened in the cafeteria, darling,” she purred, leaning in to kiss him deeply. Scott kissed her back, one hand resting possessively on her thigh. When they pulled apart, Amelia tilted her head. “Want me to put that little wretch in her place?” Scott smiled against her lips, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “You don’t need to do anything, baby. Look — that loser Ethan will handle our work for us.” Amelia laughed softly and kissed him again, slower this time, while his friends whistled and cheered. Meanwhile, Bella was running down the hallway, breathing hard. Groups of girls stared at her as she passed, whispering and giggling behind their hands. She ignored them, desperate to reach her dorm and get away from everything. She didn’t see the foot stuck out in front of her. Her ankle caught, and she went crashing to the ground with a sharp cry. Her knees scraped hard against the stone floor, fresh blood welling up instantly. The girls burst into loud laughter. “Serve her right!” “Who does she think she is?” “Talking to Ethan that way…” “How dare she talk to my husband like that?” “She’s really in trouble now.” Bella sniffled, blinking back tears as she tried to push herself up. Before she could stand, a bucket of cold, fishy water was dumped over her head. Slimy fish scales and smelly water soaked her hair, face, and uniform. She gasped in shock, mouth open, dripping wet and reeking. The hallway erupted with even louder laughter and gasps. Bella shot to her feet, water and fish sliding down her face. “How dare you!” she yelled at the girl holding the empty bucket. The girl smirked and shoved her hard in the chest. “No, how dare you!” Bella stumbled but managed to stay upright. She looked around frantically — the girl’s friends were already gathering, eyes gleaming with excitement, clearly ready to jump her. She didn’t wait. Bella turned and ran. “Such a loser!” the girls shouted after her, their laughter chasing her down the corridor. She didn’t stop running until she reached her dorm room. Her hands shook as she fumbled with the door handle, finally bursting inside. Molly was sitting on her bed, scrolling on her phone. The moment she looked up and saw Bella — soaked, covered in fish water, knees bleeding, face streaked with tears — her eyes widened. “My goodness, girl… what happened to you?” Bella couldn’t hold it in anymore. She burst into tears, shoulders shaking. “I want to leave this place,” she sobbed, voice breaking. “I can’t do this, Molly. They’re all monsters. I just want to go home.” Molly stood up quickly and pulled Bella into a hug, ignoring the smell of fish water. “Hey… hey, breathe. Sit down. Tell me everything.”
