“What is this contraption?” Kai points at the ultrasound machine, and I laugh because I can’t help myself. “What’s funny?”
I shake my head. “Nothing.” I take his hand in mine and lace our fingers together. “This machine will use sound waves to look inside my stomach to show our baby on the screen.” I point to the TV screen on the wall.
Kai looks so confused by what I just said. No one in the Wild Pack knows what an ultrasound is because they have never seen one. This is Kai’s first time; understandably, he would be confused.
This was Mom’s idea. She said checking on the baby’s progress while Kai and I are here would be good. So, here I am, lying on a hospital bed, waiting for Dale, Royal Pack Doctor, to check me over.
