Chapter 16

Steve had me teleport the three of us to his friend Sam Wilson's apartment before Rumlow or any of the other agents could find us. Steve knocked on the door and for a moment I thought he wasn't going to answer. I was glad he did though. He seemed confused as to why the three of us were standing at his door. "Hey, man." Sam greeted Steve, still looking at us confused. "I'm sorry about this. We need a place to lay low." Steve said, apologising to him, not really explaining anything. "Everyone we know is trying to kill us." I stated, since it seemed like Sam wasn't going to let us in. He seemed shocked but nodded his head. "Not everyone." Sam said, not agreeing. He let us in though, I sat on the couch exhausted. I leaned my head back fighting the sleep that wanted to take over. Nat looked at me worriedly, she squatted in front of me. "Jade, you need energy. If you keep going..." She was saying, but I cut her off. Knowing what she was going to say. "I know, but like Thor and I explained back in 2012. I can't take anyone else's energy without hurting them. I just need to rest for a few minutes. I'll be fine." I told her. She sighed but nodded, knowing it was useless to argue with me. I leaned my head back, closing my eyes. I could hear Sam telling Nat and Steve where they could clean up at. I just stayed sitting with my eyes closed instead. I found myself standing in Pierce's kitchen. The soldier was sitting at the table with a loaded gun in front of him. I saw him glance at me but say nothing. I watched as Pierce walked in. He went to the cabinet ignoring the soldier and not even seeing me. I moved out of his way, glaring at him. I went and stood beside the table close to the soldier. "I'm going to go, Mr. Pierce. You need anything before I leave?" A woman asked from the other room, not knowing that someone was sitting in the kitchen with Pierce. "No. Uh.. It's fine, Renata, you can go home." Pierce called back. Not wanting her to come into the kitchen. "Okay, night - night." She called back, Pierce was nice enough to tell her good night before she left. I listened as the door shut, making sure she was gone. Pierce went to the fridge. "Want some milk?" He asked the soldier, who didn't reply. "The timetable has moved. Our window is limited. Three targets. Two level Six, one Level Seven," Pierce said as he poured himself a glass of milk before joining the soldier at the table. "They already cost me Zola. I want confirmed death in ten hours." Pierce demanded, just as Renata interrupted them as she entered the kitchen. "Sorry, Mr. Pierce, I... I forgot my phone." She apologized, noticing the Winter Soldier sitting at the table. "Oh, Renata. I wish you would have knocked." Pierce said as he picked up the gun, shooting her. I wanted to slap him but I couldn't. I looked at the Soldier to see him glance at me while Pierce wasn't watching. I put my finger to my lips, telling him to not let him know. He quickly moved his eyes back to Pierce. I walked over to stand close to Pierce, I moved my hands in front of me, making a purple mist appear. I flicked it at Pierce, making him freeze. I nodded and looked back at the soldier. "The three targets he is talking about. I'm level seven. Follow orders, trust me. Pierce believes you can kill an assassin, a super soldier like yourself and a demi-goddess. He's wrong. It's not time yet, so don't think anything of this. You will know when it's time. But first this has to happen. Just follow orders and don't let them even think that you know who I am. Act as if you don't know me." I told him. He looks at Pierce but sees he's still not moving before he looks back at me and nods, letting me know he understands. "Okay, I'm going to unfreeze him now and leave. He has no idea I was here." I told him. He nodded again. I snap my fingers and watch as Pierce places the gun on the table as if nothing happened. I winked at the soldier before fading away. I opened my eyes to see Steve, Nat and Sam sitting at a table talking. "So, the question is: who in SHIELD could launch a domestic missile strike?" Natasha asked. "Pierce," I answered, getting up from the couch and walking over to them. They all jumped when I answered. Nat and Steve both looked at me in question. "Who happens to be sitting on top of the most secure building in the world." Natasha stated. I rolled my eyes and shook my head, not agreeing with her. "but he's not working alone. Zola's algorithm was on the Lemurian Star." Steve informed us. "So was Jasper Sitwell," Natasha said. I raised my eyebrows, shocked at what I had just learned. What was Sitwell doing on the ship? "So, the real question is: how do the three most wanted people in Washington kidnap a SHIELD officer in broad daylight?" Steve asked. I sat down at the table to help figure things out. I wasn't about to tell them we were being hunted by the Winter Soldier. I knew he would fight us but he would also let us get away. He wanted out of their clutches and he knew I was his only hope. ~~~Bella's POV~~~ Jade's picture was plastered all over the news, Charlie was freaking out because of it. How had an Agent of the government turned bad? He couldn't understand it, but she wasn't the only one they were looking for. They were looking for the Black Widow and Captain America as well. Something was going on and I don't think those three had gone bad but they were trying to stop whatever was about to happen. The packs stood in the house watching the news with us. They even had their imprints and children here playing with Renesmee. Charlie was here as well watching the news with us. We were watching as a helicopter flew over a highway as SUVs chased a small car. A man with a metal arm jumped from one of the SUV's and landed on the roof of the car. He pulled someone out of the car's window and tossed him into oncoming traffic, killing the guy. He then took a gun out and started to shoot it into the roof of the car. The car stopped all of a sudden, throwing the man off the roof and into the street. One of the SUVs slammed into the back of the car, pushing it towards the man. I watched in horror as Jade climbed out of the car window and onto the roof. We all watched as her outfit changed before our eyes to that of her witch's appearance. She moved her hands with purple mist around them while standing on the roof of the car. The SUV that was pushing the car was soon flying back, landing on the other SUV. She turned around right as the guy with the metal arm jumped back onto the roof and ripped the steering wheel from the car. He tossed it away before turning to look at Jade. You could see his hesitation but he threw a fist at her. She quickly blocked it, kicking him in the side. As they fought on the roof of the car, we watched as Captain America, Black Widow and another guy all flew out of the car on the car's passenger door. They slid along the road, Jade quickly jumped off the roof of the car, rolling on the ground before she was on her feet running towards the others. The car they were in slid into the side barrier. We watched as the four of them scattered. We could see Jade and Steve behind a stopped car. The red head was trying to get people out of the way when she was shot by the metal-armed man. I watched as Jade jumped up at the same time Steve did. Jade attacked the guy first but he quickly threw her to the side, not really even trying to fight her. It made me wonder if she knew who he was. "Do you think she knows him?" Jared asked from beside Paul. "From the way he doesn't want to fight her, I would think they knew each other." Paul answered back with the rest of us agreeing. We watched as Black Widow shot a grenade launcher, distracting the metal-armed man. When the smoke cleared, the metal-armed man was gone but the four of them were being surrounded by people in black. Jade glared at one of the men, he glared right back at her. I knew that those two hated each other just by the looks they gave. We watched as one person held a gun to Steve's head but the guy that was still glaring at my sister stopped the man looking up towards the helicopter that was recording everyone. The news had just saved their lives, but for how long? Carlisle turned the TV off and looked over at Charlie, who seemed to be having a hard time. "Dad, I'm sure whatever is going on, Jade is probably on the good side of it. You know she isn't a bad person." I defended her. I had never been a good sister, blaming her for my parents' separation but realizing she had nothing to do with it. Renee had informed me not too long ago that she loved Jade as if she was her own even though she wasn't. Renee felt trapped being in Forks and couldn't handle the small town life. Jade had nothing to do with us leaving.
