CHAPTER 30 Steadman straightened himself behind the steering wheel, experiencing a wave of exhaustion that was almost pleasurable, mixed as it was with relief and happiness for Maddie. He had a good feeling about the Jenners and their location—distant enough from the Swenson home to add a nice buffer and yet situated in a small, tight-knit group of neighbors where a stranger would be noticed and regarded with caution.
